    I bet it's the heads with a valve not sealing all the way. with the backfire that's a sign. also the fluttering of the blow off valve usually means a vacuum leak.

      @@austinwood3581 I called procharger. They said that bypass valve is only good for 700HP and I need to move up to the big red race valve. The backfire is from the 2 step. Once I disconnected it, it stopped backfiring and intermittently pulling timing. I’m going to order Big Red and we will see

      @Fbodygarage yeah I have a f1x on my 408 and need a big red valve before and after the intercooler on charge pipes. the 2 step rev limit makes since on backfire. but the fluttering on valve shouldn't happen at idel should be wide open.

      @ They said it’s due to increased airflow from the size of the intercooler when not WOT. Usually you would adjust or change the spring to match the new airflow but since it’s a fixed spring, there is no adjustment or ability to replace. They said changing to the big red will fix the issue. We will see. I’m still planning on doing a leak down test and pressure test to eliminate any small boost leaks under boost. Everything has been smoke tested. No leaks. The fluttering only happened after installing the front mount intercooler. Fluttering was not present with the twin intercooler.

    do you need a resistor plug and a 12volt ignition signal for your alternator?

      @@austinwood3581 That is definitely a common problem on these. I’ve had to de-pin that wire from the computer to the alternator and replace it in the past but not the issue in this case. It’s just a worn out alternator. Mechman has to rebuild it every couple years.

    I had clearance issue with blower pulley and alternator pulley.

      @@53highlander yeah me too. I have a Mechman alternator which is like the truck alternator and is slightly bigger which caused a clearance issue with the 8 rib j-bracket. I ended up spacing the bracket with washers to fix the issue. Also the length of the belt plays into that too. The shorter the belt, the further the pulleys are from each other when tensioned.

      I am using the 10 rib pulley. the problem with adding spacer to the bracket it moves the pulley out of line with the crank pulley. so I had the center of the procharger pulley machined where the set washer and bolt sets.

    I went through similar with my F1A . Started out with 6 P1. 8 D1. Then finally Dan schoeneck cog for the F1. They put a lot of trust in pinning that crank 😂. Needed to be keyed twice. Ended up with a gt55 94mm but couldn't get anyone to weld the kit and no one to wire a dominator with 8 get sensors.

    That’s exactly the set up I ordered. I didn’t build my intercooler though. The updated bracket is much better quality than the old set up I had with the D1SC also better than the Aster.

    Brother your car looks awesome it sounds awesome I love the narrowed rear. I had a pro charger on my Forth Camaro back in the day with the 8 rib set up even went to the 10 and never could stop belt slip there was a bracket you could buy called the Asters bracket that Bob from EPP used to sell not sure if they do anymore I actually just purchased one for a new procharger setup but I'm going to put on my trans Am it's spring loaded and it used to be what everyone went with I'm not sure if that's still something you can get nowadays I also heard that the new pro charger setups came with a spring loaded tensioner that they have now I was wondering if your car has the spring load attention or if it's still a manual setup Also we never had any luck with the ProCharger intercoolers they always cause problems The only way we was able to modify them to work was to stand them in a vertical position where the fog lights go It was always simpler to just go with the front mount intercooler setup I'm very curious to see how your car progresses also thank you for your channel it's really cool to see these old cars becoming popular again

      @@rickyscz28 Thank you! Much appreciated. My thinking was to go through the normal steps of progression that most people would take to make more and more power with their 4th gen f-bodys. We have two different procharged 4th gen’s on the channel that are taking similar steps with different parts. My TA went from stock LS1 and 4L60E, to heads and cam, to 408 stroker and T56 swap, to 408 stroker with nitrous, to 408 stroker with progressive direct port nitrous and D1SC procharger with the basic accessories, then to beyond the smallest pulley and now the process of elimination to diagnosing all the problems that go along with those decisions. Belt slip, belt gets hot, blower spins beyond max rpm efficiency range, blower gets hot, intercoolers cause heat and restriction, metal air box heats up during heat soak, spark plug gap now to high, etc… Now I just installed the new 10 rib bracket with spring loaded tensioner and idler pulley. I went up from a 7.75 inch ati pulley to an 8 inch so I could go up to a larger blower pulley and make the same boost. I bought a 3.40 inch grip tec blower pulley. Also just installed a 1700hp capable treadstone intercooler. Also sent off the head unit to procharger to procharger to reseal. Now waiting probably a month to get that back to go back to the dyno and show the results. Then will probably go to a low ram intake, E85 or meth, etc… In the meantime, the other 4th gen on the channel just bought a TSP 408, RPM Trans swap and Holley EFI which we are starting to install. His TA started with LS1, added heads and cam, then everything BMR makes, then hawks motorsports 8.8 rear end (not narrowed), nitrous, then F1A94 with 10 rib bracket and procharged front mount intercooler, then blew the 4L60E and couldn’t max out blower on stock bottom end. So they are both going down a similar path but taking different roads to get there.

    Chased a similar gremlin in a Vortech foxbody. Appears to be a boost issue, possibly belt slipping, but could be something else. Still occurred even after Renegade braket upgrade, 10 rib 8"/3.33" & hd tensioner. Would be fine up till 10#, then bypass valve would open at 12#, not building any more boost. There was a T off of bypass valve line for emissions stuff. The T was cracked, above 10#, the bypass would open due to vacuum from the leak. Now personally, always run dedicated lines w/ends secured for critical items (MAP, FPR & bypass/blowoff). GL

      @@ryandoyle4344 yeah that’s definitely a good rule of thumb for process of elimination. I had the 8 rib bracket assembly and 7.65 ATI pulley. I just bought the 10 rib bracket assembly and the 8 inch ATI pulley so I can use a larger blower pulley to get the same amount of boost. I also bought a grip tec blower pulley. This should resolve the possibility of belt slipping. I also just bought a treadstone 1700 HP capable front mount intercooler. This should resolve the intake air temps and any restrictions that may exist. I also sent the head unit to procharger to reseal and look over. So we will see what happens soon.

    Best set up is a race intercooler. 10 rib with procharger updated bracket and HD tensioner. Stand up radiator

      As for the FMIC, you can’t go wrong, that 408 is trying to breathe thru those two tiny little intercoolers, no bueno for your IAT’s there and loss on power too. But just my .02

    Man That's a Slick Ride! Can you share the back wheel specs,off set and tire size? I looked through your videos but didn't see what did you have to do to get them to fit? Thank you in advance if you can

      @@kbsmithgaming9560 Yeah one of the videos I’m planning on doing is walking viewers through all of the things that were done to each car prior to the channel and bringing everyone up to speed. I’ll be doing that soon. The rearend is Hawks Motorsports 8.8 narrowed 3 inches which made it easier to make those wheels fit. The exact backspacing I don’t remember because I ordered the rear end and wheels through them all together years ago. If you need the specs now that you know the rearend has been narrowed let me know and I will measure them for you. I plan to do that in the video where I go over the whole car. The rear wheels and tires are Weld Wheels S71 15x10s Nitto NT555RII 275/60/15

      I might in the future. I'm not trying to just hit a big number. I'm trying to see how much I can get out of the D1SC on 93 right now. The idea is to try to show the natural progression of things that most people go through, the troubleshooting and stages people go through over time to get better and better numbers. That way people can watch the failures and wins along with seeing the results of the different setups as they progress. Currently, I am planning on changing the intercooler, then probably going to the 10 rib drive belt system, then either add meth or change over to E85, maybe a different fuel system, etc. with dyno runs and track days along the way.

      @kief4diamonds Me too. My last engine came apart with 14* and made 590. Started smoking on the first run at the track.

    Someone needs to make a video for novices that shows us how to get the most horsepower with the least amount of wrenching. I'm trying to get a decent car with nice horsepower but I am no mechanic and dont have the money to pay a mechanic to keep wrenching on a motor all the time. If I wanted to get 600 or 700 horsepower at the wheels with a motor that I don't have to wrench on that much what is the recipe?

      @@dontworrybehappy975 That’s kind of the idea here. We are showing step by step what we go through, mistakes and all, from beginning to end to progressively make more and more power. That way you can look at the video and say ok, they installed / built this motor with these parts and with this combo they made this, and after they added these mods they made this. There are more videos to come with different gen Camaros and trans ams with different setups.
