Hi again. Looks like I have run into a little setback. I have a Elitebook pro 840 g5. It seems there are 3 Winbond bios chips. Two on the front and one on the back I can't figure out witch one that is the EC chip Front chip is 25Q256JVEQ and a smaller one under some tape 25Q80DYIG Back chip is 25Q128JVPQ Any suggestions? Would be very appreciated 🙂
Firstly I guess the EC chip is behind the processor,,, and also check how I differentiate between the Main bios and EC chip in the video.. if you have any questions free feel to ask.

So this is the procedeur ? 1: Desolder the chip from the back of the board. Extracting Bios from another computer. 2: Connect chip to your programmer etc CH421a. 3: Extract the locked bios file from the chip with software and save it with a name for example (Bios_locked.bin). 4: Open your saved file bios_locked.bin with Hex workshop and edit it (Remove lock) Here's where its getting confusing How exactly do you do that? 5: Save your edited file in Hex workshop to a new file with name Bios_unlocked.bin) Program Bios 6: Load your saved unlocked bios file with same program you used when you extracted. 7: Erase your chip with extracting program 8: Reprogram your chip with unlocked bios file. 9: Solder chip to motherboard and start computer 10: Follow startup proceeder Rebooting 3 times DONE.
This is not the simplest way.... At All. You did not mention that you need to remove the chip from the motherbaord and extract the files. You all should sue HP for preventing access to your own computer. There will be a class action lawsuit against HP for this kind of design. This is like buying a house from a builder and the builder refused to give you a the key to your own house. Lawsuit is coming to HP.
HP put the security just in case your laptop is stolen and also to save your data. But wait if you said the laptop belongs to you then you should know the password and if you forget the password this is the solution... That's if you don't wanna go through HP. Thanks

Do I have to flash both bios or only the one on the back of the motherboard. The one on the front says winbond 25Q256JVEQ

I have a HP 250 G6. Firmware update from windows, and doesn't start anymore. The chip is not exactly the same. There are two of them in that area, and the disipator is golden, diferent from this. Is there any way of reprograming, using the cable that comes with the usb programer circuit?
Yes its possible if you know exactly what to do///// but the best way is to disorder the chip from the board and make a backup.... then go to the official website of Hp and download the bios then copy the DMI file from the old backup file to the new bios download from the Hp website. Then you should be Good.

Will this work if SSD is bitlocked ? SSD is bitlocked and bios is also locked with password
First follow this process to unlock the bios after you install a clean windows then your bidlocker will be gone

Before you unlock was your SSD drive lock with bidlocker???
@@borvitech I don't know, but i fix Just now. Problem was double, first for solder and resolder i move some component on board, and second was the dump that i use for main bios, i flash whit original main bios dump and use only the edited ec, and after i make update directly from bios by using external lan. Now all Is ok, thanks for your precius info!

I would like to ask something does it mean if you EDIT it the process won't successfully? I am asking this question beause before i tried to flash different bios but i never win?
Backup the original file and edit the file then program it and put it back to the laptop... The password will be gone 100% free
