I THINK IM GETTING A GERBILL GUYS

I had gerbils as a kid, they were awesome little pets. Unfortunately at that time there wasn’t as much information on the right type of care/enrichment. They still lived good long lives but looking back their cage was not as big as it should’ve been and we didn’t give them as much enrichment. I was only 12 though. Hopefully when I move I can have gerbils again and give them the right size enclosure with lots of enrichment though

Hi, I know this video was a while ago now so I’m just wondering how the melamine worked out for the topper? I really want to make a diy topper but when recommendations say not to use pines/plywood/chipboard or melamine then it gets hugely expensive 😢

its so strange how many things are advertised for gerbils and yet completely inappropriate for them.

Thanks for this video, I got ideas from you for building my topper for my 40 gallon tank. My son and I used poplar wood and I did use the same wire cage topper. It ended up very nice and the gerbils love it. Thanks for doing this video. I did fix the wire cage to the wooden floor differently. I just used small bungee cords to hold the wire topper to the wooden floor. It works fine. And It is easier to remove the topper in two pieces.

Nobody gives their gerbils a huge play-space in the house to roam around in with a lot of stuff including a huge wheel? Then put them back in their tank to spend the night? Why leave gerbils in tanks unless you are not home?

My dad and auntie when they were young loved pets and my auntie had a hamster and my dad with a gerbil .My auntie said I bet my hamster could beat up your gerbil and they put them together in a cage MY DADS GERBIL RIPPED OFF THE HAMSTERS EAR😭💀

My gerbil ate her family 😅so she is by herself but we have tried many times to find a pair for her and she just prefer by herself !!!! But she is one of a kind 😂

actually,, youre AMAZING!!! my parents and i were nervous about opening the front cage (we have the top and the.. front,, that are able to be opened etc etc) but as soon as i opened the latch and put my hand through, they instantly opened up, and even started playing with me!!! ive been working my butt off these past 3 days to try to get them as comfortable with my family as possible, and so far.. slowly, it's been making progress!! thank you!! :)

Would love to know where you got your topper wire cage. My current topper does not have a front door and I really want to front door on my topper. Thanks for any advice on where to get a good topper with a front door. I have two tanks on is 30 X 12 X 12 and the other is a 40 gallon breeder tank. 36 x 18 x 16. I was si confused when you were saying that treats wete unhealthy for them bc thats what treats are? Their supposed to be fun and tasty but unhealthy. Im not saying this as just for gerbils its for humans too ice cream is unhealthy for humans but its tasty so we eat it as a treat. But looking for healthy snacks and treats is recomended and smart. So keep doing that i just wanted a clarification.

So many people saying that hamsters are worse because they aren't cuddly/bite easily..um..I get the feeling that most of these people got hamsters without actually doing proper research?? I can't imagine any person who has DONE research on hamsters, getting one thinking that they will be 'cuddle buddies' and all that..I mean..that's literally not the hamster's nature. Yes they can occasionally tolerate people picking them up and cuddling them in some way but the general rule is the opposite. Usually they will mostly let you pet them and pick then up for a few pets/roam time but that's just about it. They're not your ''cuddly'' pet. So if you get a hamster without knowing this and you end up disappointed, it's not really the hamster's fault lol. I had done a bunch of research before getting my hamster, I never went into getting it thinking that it will be a cuddle pet so I was never disappointed either. Personally right now I have a hamster but I'd like to own gerbils too, I think they're also interesting in different ways.

Hi i saw like some bedding in my gerbils cage and some food on it and when i picked it up it was so smelly and i’m not sure if it’s gerbil diarrhea:(

When I picked up my gerbil it suddenly started shaking and stopped moving..... And for a while it remained silent... I quickly put it in the cage and it goes to a corner and lies... what happen.. I thought the gerbil had an attack.......do you know what happened...... Please reply😊
