Finally got to see a Ygra win!

Still building Flubs, but chanced upon the idea to use Meria, Scholar of Antiquity in conjunction with a bunch of cheerios artifacts to just churn through the deck, ideally using noncreature artifacts to get benefits from stuff that triggers on casting noncreature spells *and* on artifacts entering. Displacer Kitten is one i'm really keen to test in it, since you can flicker your mana rocks. Throw in a few things that reduce the cost of artifacts and you're golden. Could even throw in the Jhoira that draws you a card whenever you cast a historic spell, so that you don't have to rely on Flubs being out in order to storm off.

I sorta get they're playing it. But a counter spell in a deck where you want to be cycling through your hand as quickly as possible seems like a poor choice. Even if it is as good as mana drain

There were a few moving pieces in the loop Kuro was presenting, so I'll explain in case anyone else was confused what exactly happened. Firstly, the lightning runner combo loop only works if you have 6 or more energy before you attack. In addition, if you want multiple combats you need essentially a "free attack" to keep lightning runner from dying, which is why he only attacked Wally for as long as he could. Kuro entered into the combat phase with 7 energy counters. On attack, razorfield ripper triggers giving him 1 energy counter bringing his total to 8. Lightning runners attack trigger gave him 2 additional energy counters, bringing his total to 10. Which then allowed him to pay 8 to untap his creatures and have an additional combat bringing his total to 2 energy counters. Before combat he gave his sphinx of the revelation +1/+0, trample and haste from madison li's activated ability, giving it now a total power of 5. Sphinx of the revelations states when you gain life you get that much energy. Thus once combat damage resolved, the sphix has lifelink, so he gained an additional 5 energy bringing his total count of energy counters to 7. In his second combat he starts with 7 total energy counters, razorfield and lightning runner give 3 energy counters on attack, bringing his total back to 10. Thus allowing him to continuously pay 8 energy during the declare attackers step as long as lightning runner was attacking. Sick video and it's been a treat seeing you guys link up with other creators from the U.S. 🔥
