Mental Health how have you been coping? #mentalhealth
Просмотров 44011 месяцев назад
A few hours over the woods today trying to shrug off some mental health baggage. How have you folks been of late? I find this is sometimes the only way I can get some peace of mind when things get me really down. What’s your way of combating these issues? They say it’s good to talk, but I have trouble communicating with these emotions and feelings and believe it or not I can talk to a camera an...
Christmas Eve Bimble at Winspit Quarry
Просмотров 30411 месяцев назад
As it says above…… just a quick bimble around Winspit Quarry. This has been on my to do list for a while now so it’s finally done. Apologies for the audio but it was absolutely blowing a gale hence the lack of talking. I’m hoping to get back there in the summer months when the weather is more in my favour as it would have been nice to get the drone up. Winspit is a disused quarry on the cliffs ...

Autumnal fun in the forest

A few hours out in the forest walking alongside the local wildlife. A small campfire and the pocket anchor attached to a stake driven in the ground next to it a fire bowl for a few brews of coffee. Some chestnuts to roast from a previous foraging trip and a little play with my jaw harp. El Cheapo Tarp Bushcraft gear on a budget

A short session over the woods today alongside a different section of the M25 so apologies for the slight noise pollution. A brief look at a cheapo tarp I purchased from Decathlon a few years back if your budgets tight or are just starting out it’s worth a look at. I believe they also do a camo version now. No need for ridge lines at all. There are 6 tie outs in all that I just pass small hi vi...
Solstice Hammock Overnighter
Просмотров 2412 года назад
Nestled next to the M25 in Essex for a quick little solo solstice overnighter in the hammock. Rolled in late at around 21:00hrs and was woken in the early hours the following morning by a chorus of Robin birdsong and fallow deer edging into camp to see what I had to offer. Egg & bacon rolls for breakfast cooked on the Bushbox followed by a few brews of coffee and some pipe time before heading b...
Woodland Therapy - Processing Nettles for cordage

A couple of recent woodland sessions. Time out in the fields or amongst the trees surrounded by birdsong (in this case quite a few Long tailed tits) and the odd fallow deer passing by is the best type of therapy that one can have. On the walk in and along the hedgerows I start collecting some Elderflowers for a brew I’m concocting once back home. Then it’s off for a brew or two of coffee & nett...

Kelly Kettle meets the south west coast path
Beware. These things leech out lead into the food. It's wiser to buy from more civilized, Christian countries.
These have been recalled now after testing showed massive lead contamination. They were not smelted and recycled properly when being cast. And don't bother refuting this or denying it like a true Trumper, its all over the news.
Do not get or use afgan pressure cookers they all have lead in the aluminum and poisons the food. Their being banned worldwide.
What size ridgemonkey?
Love this, chin up, fella. Counselling completely changed me for the best, and I would recommend it every time. Being outside in nature is the absolute best cure. I also love the Instagram mate. 😊
Hey brother Just wanted to say really enjoyed watching your video. All the best ❤️🫡
Thornhill Ultra Heavy (Scott!) produce top quality gear made here in the UK which will last an absolute lifetime. I've had several bits of kit made to order, including tool-rolls/fire-mats/bedrolls & tarps and it's all an absolute joy to use - no fear of embers or thorns or sticks ripping through the flimsy sil-nylon super-lightweight gear that arrives on that big boat from China every week - this is proper gear, made by a proper bloke for proper bush-crafting!! If you have only one decent bit of kit in your backpack, be sure it's from Thornhill Ultra Heavy and no, I'm not sponsored!! 😉
Where's the heroin pipe?
That scoff looks handsome mate!
the metal in these pots contain lead that is transfered into the food
That’s hearsay. Many cookware items around the world are made from aluminum. Why complain only about Kazan? So far, there is no proof of lead contamination.
@@AhnDhyYhu It's actually not hearsay at all, and yes, there is proof. Some time ago, Amazon removed these from their catalog entirely. They have tested positive for high levels of lead. This is just one of many studies you can read about. "After scientific detective work and years of study, environmental experts for King County finally nailed down the cause of high levels of lead in the blood of some immigrant children. They determined the children, largely new arrivals from Afghanistan, were being slowly poisoned by the traditional cookware their families brought with them from their native country. “Each scan takes about 60 seconds,” said Fellows as she held her XRF gun up to a pot from MenGrills. The scan showed 1,218 parts per million of lead in the body of the cooker and 34,000 parts per million in the brass valve in the cooker’s lid. That’s a lot of lead. Ideally, cookware contains zero amount of lead, Fellows said."
@@AhnDhyYhunot hearsay. Tested in Seattle by a reputable lab. These pots have been removed from sale by Amazon and others because of the lead problem.
@@AhnDhyYhu It was found out after a bunch of kids from a turkish community in Seattle were getting sick. After blood tests and such, it was found out they had high level of lead in their blood. Some of the kids have permanent damage because of it
@@AhnDhyYhuactually, there is proof that these pots, made from aluminum that's sourced from recycling used engines, themselves having been made with varying amounts of lead, also contains lead. These are unsafe to use.
Sorry to say but utterly a waste of time owning one of these in a survival situation. It is too bulky and heavy to carry when travelling unless you have a wagon/mule etc to carry it.
loving the viking look keep the vids up !
Will do fella😂
I’ve got a few tunics,boots & trousers etc….. maybe do a Viking video in the future 😂
YES !!!!@@field_stream_woodland3378
Nice bit of kit 👍
It is nice quality kit but out of my price range. Strange how a lot of bushcrafters are pipe smokers. I do too
It’s just great to sit puff & chill
@@field_stream_woodland3378 Yes and read. It is surprising how much time is spent cooking and collecting firewood. We bushcrafters are the wealthiest people on Earth
New subscriber 👍
Welcome aboard!
Yeah he sure does some great gear. Ive had a few bits off him and the build quality is amazing
Nice one, looks like a nice little spot for a brew. The Thornhill tarps are fantastic aren't they. I've got an 8x8 and the fabric seems to develop a nice patina after a bit of use. 👍
Thank you for introducing something I never knew existed. Looks fun and effective.
Can so relate to much of what you're saying here. I struggle with depression and anxiety and yeah definitely agree us blokes seem to find it hard to open up about it. Not a fan of Xmas, I get bothered by the environmental damage it causes our planet! I definitely feel better when out in nature and have tried talking about mental health on my own channel, but sometimes looking back think I just sound like a grumpy miserable git. It's not easy dealing with it. Lost my first wife to a crappy rare disease 20 years ago, my sister more recently, I can't cope with noise or crowds of people. Kind of rambling here but at end of day I do find camping, hiking and getting out in the sticks very therapeutic.
Just found your channel geezer good video . I’ve subbed
Many thanks
Hello Steve glad to see you back in the woods. I to have been through the mill over the years. Like you I stopped medication straight away it was terrible. The past several years have been much better since I cut out a lot of foods I mainly now eat meat and this is what turned me around I found cutting out carbs and sugars and alcohol really made a difference since I’ve been more carnivore my head has more clarity I sleep fantastic I have more energy and enthusiasm my mood is more settled my arthritis is getting better nowhere near as much pain and the best one is hardly any anxiety attacks which for me is a big deal. I no it’s not for everyone as we are all different but it’s helped me immensely. I’m so glad you made this video it’s really helpful to many people. So don’t give in pal it does get better. You’re doing the right thing by spending time in the woods in nature. One day at a time and you will get well. My strong advice to all who suffer take a look at your diet it’s amazing how much crap is put in our foods that cause inflammation and this causes many diseases including mental health issues anyways love and blessings to you all and may 2024 bring many happy days in the nature. What baccy do you have in the bard? The pipe suits your character great 👍
Hi i am glad you are on the mend and trying other things like cutting certain foods out, we know that some foods are crammed with additives that can play havoc with your body. I too changed my diet a few years back and dropped off around 3 1/2 stone pretty darn quick and I must admit I felt the best I ever did at that point. Unfortunately I’ve put around a stone back on so I am still down on my original weight but still feeling rough with the little extra gained so thats one thing I’m gonna be looking into shedding shortly. I felt a little more energetic at my lightest weight. Sleep is a big issue for me, it’s little or nothing sometimes and I have tried medication and had no success. I use an American cv (cherry vanilla blend) in the old bard pipe. Take care and a Happy New Year🎉
Hi Steve , been having some problems lately worked nights in nhs for 25 yrs , coming up to retirement , had an upset at work that really fudged my thinking ,had a little time off to get rid of that night tiredness you will know what I mean , had a change at work , thats made me a little more positive some sunshine could help ! as I Iook forward to spring so HAPPY NEW YEAR and hope its better than the last one !
Happy New Year to you too. Yes hopefully the longer days and better weather will help us to stay grounded and give us a more positive outlook on life my friend. Keep that chin up!
Karma is a bitch ain't it Steve. Catches up with us all eventually especially when you mess with other people's feelings and well-being, using them to make yourself feel better. You dont even have the decency to apologise, you just make excuses for your actions and blame everyone else. You deserve the Karma.
Hope you get through this rough time. Try and make a positive change. Always about if you need a chat. Happy new year. Cousin matt x
Its weird I'm from California and must have had an extremely different life but still struggle with the exact same things of being stunted at times and its no one else's fault but my own. The only advice I could give you is to try to have things in your life that make all the working and difficult parts worth it, whether that be just chilling outside or working towards goals that mean something to you.
Thanks for putting this out. I've had therapy after referring myself but it hasn't helped. I won't go to see my GP to be given a prescription or referred to another NHS service. Keep doing what you're doing man, prescription nature.
You’re welcome fella. If it helps just one person then it’s worth it. Trying to share with others as well as trying to be positive helps. Spending quality time outdoors and occupying one’s mind doing little tasks is a good start in the right direction. Never give up my friend
The boy must be a teenager now do you both still get out in the woods?happy new year 👍
Do you have an allotment? Growing foods a great hobby👍
Ditch the antidepressants and sleeping pills and put some thc in that pipe😂👍
Happy New year👍
And you Jamie
Hi, the stone was used for many of the prestigious buildings in London as well as many of the country’s cathedrals. Most of the caves I entered had been used for camping. It seems it’s quite a magnet for people possibly doing overnighters with most of them used frequently to have fires in and the odd beer or two going by some of the rubbish I witnessed
Just happened upon your channel and was wondering what they used the stone for from that quarry? What kind of stone is it? It looks like someone was living there in the one spot with what looked like the leather and the fire pit.
What's the red stuff?
Cranberry sauce
What a feast 👌
They have dangerous quantities of lead in them...
YUM YUM I bet that tastes as good as it looks a nice classic dish . Merry Christmas !
It was a cracking dish with plenty of other variations to try out as well
I have one of those myself love it 👍

Nice. Thanks for sharing. Have one, and just finished making a beef stew with it. Dinner for wife, daughter and myself. Put some red wine in it. Of course there’s another bottle on the table. 👍
Of course, you have to have another bottle of wine to wash it all down❤
