Klorifiend made the forge of sin, so i think its more like the flame is eternal and feeds on the soul that the lifeweavers manipulate (each death makes you reincarnate into a flower or something like that and the greathive uses it as fuel for its lifeweaving, the artifacts themselves hold an insurmountable content of souls inside of it), kinda ironic how the lifeweavers in this case are Villians and Klorifiend is the good guy, considering he burns away the soul freeing it

i remember once reading one of the lore books in game, about 3 life weavers on a quest to revive an old dead hero, and how it ended horribly. since the heros soul was already lost in the depths, the thing that was in place of its soul was one of the deep gods i think, or just a being from the depths in general. i remember the way they sealed it away was by sacrificing themselves and trapping it in a metal box, which nullified all lifeweave, thus making the heros body still again. the way they tried to revive him in the first place was by transfering life from an entire field of flowers around the heros corpse
