    You don’t have enough weight on your rear wheels. Tighten the tensioner for your springs on both sides. A screwdriver is all you need to turn the nut that’s at the end of the spring.

      That's an expensive lesson! The r-net controller is not the only electrical connection that cannot get wet. Just not having water in the controller does not mean a short has not occurred, and obviously, from your chair's behavior, there was a short. A wheelchair tech could check all the systems and possibly find and replace any systems damaged by the short but it will not be cheap. No computer chip can simply be reprogrammed--which is what this dongle does--after a short. Damaged components must be replaced.

    This Three-Wheeler is homemade? Very nice! There's a guy who welded two electric bikes together for his girlfriend. She transfers onto it with ease. They got married about five years ago, and Jerry (jerryrigeverything) on youtube has built a company to make/ sell the evolved version. What a ride for around five-thousand dollars, and on my wish list, second only to healing and restoration for every human being with an infirmity, disease, head trauma, cancer, etc. If you rolled in your newish M5 along those familiar sidewalks, I'm impressed with the comfortable ride quality.

    Some spots along the trail look fairly steep and long for a PWC, according Permobil. I lived two miles from White Tank Mountain Regional State Park (west Olive Ave. Maricopa). It was a five-mile round trip to the library there. Three PWC's handled it wo any problems, but Permobil warns me not to traverse such long inclines as it would fry the motors in a 2023-24 model. Thoughts?

    I just watched a twenty-minute video on Permobil caster flutter on a generation 3 M5 pwc by 'Totally Normal'. He's been in an F3 with aggressive tread tires. The video is eight years old, but he's presently very satisfied w his '23 F3 and was successful in stopping caster flutter on the older Permobil mentioned - interesting. Also, he assured that 'fixing' or working on the flutter problem won't void the warranty as the issue in considered a defect in parts/ workmanship. He did mention Permobil uses larger casters than previously, at some point. Eight-inch casters on m3, m5, f3, f5, presently. It occurs to me that the aggressive tread tires are slightly larger in width and diameter than the standard tread tires and they come with rear fenders, adding 7.5 mph plays a part. My initial in home F5 demo, the Numotion Rep. suggested standard tread for my use in Southern Indiana, adding the aggressive tread have softer tread compound and more open tread (wear faster). I thought that was a weird thing to say as we get a healthy amount of snow down here and the more frequent tire/ wheel replacements means more money for my vendor. That said, it's funny that Permobil's every picture pwc advertised has aggressive tread tires. Hmm.

    I'm in the process of replacing my present PWC. I'm aligned with V.R. and going through final motions (seating eval report to my counselor's desk - expected by late Dec. or early Jan.). My C500 sits, it's the best pwc I've experienced, poor ride quality, though. I talked w Matt Miller, permobil customer service and he suggested an F5 as opposed to the M5 largely due to caster flutter issues. Truthfully, I believe an M5 is the better choice per my condition at sixty-eight yrs. of age. I'm disappointed after watching your experience. A piece of plastic falling off a wheel due to flutter issues - wow. The Tech ignoring the l. r. caster looseness - I'd get to know his boss, really. A shock absorber ill adjusted, now I'm rethinking a Permobil. Working on your own pwc - could that void the warranty? ...not too many quads that can do this. If you have any encouragement to proceed w Permobil, please reply. Appreciate you sharing!

      Permobil is the best. A few minor issues don't make it bad when compared to chairs that are always broken.

    • @horsewnoname872
      @horsewnoname872 8 месяцев назад

      @@wheelchairghost I agree with you. The vendor who showed-up for my seating eval. refused to sell me a Permobil, six years ago, and said he didn't make enough money and gave me three lame choices - quantum, ROVI, Invacare's tdx sp - this Quickie qm710, I brought up and it spent on year, collectively, out of six, in the shop. At 2,600 miles, this Quickie - three motor replacements (another pair were in the works, wrong replacements were sent before moving back to Indiana), three joysticks, three swing-away assemblies, caster, fork stem, struts, frt. springs, two wires to Joystick, and error code 8104 still haunts me. Preferred Homecare, Phoenix Valley had to be hounded per lies - "parts haven't arrived yet," while twice Techs failed to walk my parts order to the girls whose job was to order parts - calling sunrise medical helped catching the lies. I really feel another mid-wheel would better suite my circumstances, still. My Permobil '14 C500 was Maintenace only and has 3 thousand miles. Do you think aggressive treads have any role in causing the flutter you're experiencing?

    • @wheelchairghost
      @wheelchairghost 8 месяцев назад

      I have no proof of where the flutter comes from, but it seems the tread wearing down has reduced flutter to a reasonable amount. Adjusting the shock and tightening that bolt also played a part in the problem. @@horsewnoname872

    • @horsewnoname872
      @horsewnoname872 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you! You've restored my faith in Permobil as my choice. Permobil's owner's manual states 'this wheelchair is made to last five years,' a first in my experience to see this. Matt Miller, Permobil Rep. shared all Permobil PWC's use two pole motors instead of four pole motors as my C500 has. He assured motors will never be a problem, though. Inflation has made me suspect of about everything, like the paint turns out to be plastic parts - anything to cut costs. You're Permobil, your assurances restore my confidence. Again, Thanks!@@wheelchairghost

      If it helps... I think my problem is better because of two things. Tightening the left caster shock adjuster and wear on the caster tires. The angled crack issue went away. Flutter is seldom and due to random causes now.

    My F5 vs I got in May this year came with the Permobil batteries. I'm used to the MK batteries that would go a consist 15 miles for almost 2 years before fading. I was impressed that I got a good 20 miles out of the Permobil batteries, but they faded fast and within a month, they where down to just over 10 miles. After over 10 years in a chair, I'm sick of the DME's always replacing my batteries with crap batteries that fade bad within 6 months and are totally shot in a year. So I upgraded to lithium. Just hunted a ton to find a 12 volt lithium battery for a direct replacement of my batteries. Had to put a separate battery meter to more accurately monitor the lithium as the joystick battery gage doesn't know how to deal with lithium. I also got a different charger. So I now get a constant 30 miles out of them and the batteries will last longer than my chair. I plan to get bare cells and use a separate BMS. That's your best bet for the maximum mileage.

      Frank, and anyone else who is interested... Below is an Amazon link to the dash cam. I made the mounting brackets from aluminum plate. The DVR module that comes with the dash cam, is mounted in a plastic box under my right armrest. Everything is contained neatly under the right armrest. There is just a power cable running to it. It can be powered by 12 VDC or through a USB port. For simplicity and a quick test, I originally ran the cameras taped to the chair with wires and power bank and DVR in an armrest bag. It worked well enough that I put in the work to set it up so it would be easy to use. I don't even think about it anymore, but next time I get hit and run by a car I hope it will catch the drunken jackal. It's also nice to have video of fun stuff that happens when you don't expect it. But no useable audio. There are also two pages on my website about the dash cam. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QB6Q3C5/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3TPRKKPWD3PAK&th=1

    Great video! I'm due for a new chair which is exciting and stressful cause you want to get it right. I've always had a mid- wheel drive chair and there's so many things I love about my Permobil M3. As my needs have changed I'm looking at the F3 or F5. Over the years I've really hoped that the driving range would increase. And I mean increase substantially. I'm wanting 60-80 miles per charge. I'd also like for the chair to charge in a matter of an hour or two. Wouldn't it be cool if you could charge the chair from your car? It's very hilly where I'm at and just driving around to the back of my home is steep. You do this enough times and the driving range is not only under what is stated, but as such, this limits what I can do during the day. That's not acceptable. Most people in wheelchairs don't live on a putting green where it's flat. I think there's plenty of room for power wheelchairs to at least meet the level of technology that everyone has in their smart phone, namely the type of batteries that they use. It just feels like the way all power wheelchair manufacturers roll is to do things like they always have. For the price of these chairs I expect more than a cup holder or USB charger as new features. All chairs should come standard with certain things. Lights, backup camera, the LUCI system, and the ability to go all day on a charge seems to be a reasonable thing to ask. I keep hoping.

    • @wheelchairghost

      Go all day on a charge? You're asking for a lot. No wait. That seems reasonable and it's easily done by changing battery technology. Uhm, you already said that. A lithium battery that would go 30 miles would be much smaller and lighter. It could be designed to fit around the machinery, making it possible to design far better chairs. The design options are endless. I believe the problem is simple. I call it "Nanny Syndrome." Everyone involved thinks they are our nanny. They think it's up to them to make decisions for us. A chair that goes faster and farther is too much for those disabled people to handle. The world builds motorcycles and jacked up trucks and fast cars. Any of them will flip over if you operate them wrong. Alcohol is sold on every street corner. People are even encouraged to jump out of airplanes. It's no problem. Able bodied people are allowed to be responsible for themselves. They don't need a nanny. Ahhh yes... that thinking is "Nanny Syndrome." We're not allowed to make our own decisions.

    Hey is it very expensive to build a chair bike from scratch?

      Hi Loree-Lou. There's no bike here. It's a wheelchair. Federal civil rights law defines it. Any person using this due to a mobility issue is using a wheelchair. Also, they are a PEDESTRIAN under U.S. law. That means you go anywhere people are allowed to walk. Expensive or not is a matter of perspective. Around $4,500 to build a Crazy Chair like this.

      Thank the sponsors of the trip. It cost me $15. That's not enough to pay for the gas.

      Lucky you to have such an organization nearby. I know of nothing like that in Barrie ON Can.

    Looks a bit windy there, I wish that there was somewhere where I live like that 👍

      If it makes you feel better, I don't live there either. It's a two hour drive which is normally impossible for me.

      It's all of that Old Man, plus it's like sacred ground for events from much of my life. Didn't think I'd ever get up there again.

    Thank you so much for uploading this video, super appreciated! I received a brand-new M3 about 10 months ago, but have been a little bit chicken to really test the range to the extreme. My chair has about 315 km/195 miles

      WARNING!!! Don't do what I did!!! I think the deep discharge destroyed the batteries.
