NASCAR Productions flash back to the revolutionary race in "One Hot Night: 1992 NASCAR All-Star Race," a one-hour documentary incorporating a compilation of newly discovered images and behind-the-scenes recollections from the drivers, key players and witnesses to the night NASCAR went primetime.
Ernie Irvan earned his nickname of Swearvin' Irvan he could not drive. He had to retire due to how many wrecks he had been in
We lost 4 drivers to Basilar Skull Fractures in 2000-2001 Tony Roper Adam Petty Kenny Irwin Jr Dale Earnhardt Sr All These Deaths hit the sport hard and hit the fans harder I hope that all the drivers went quickly and felt no pain when it happened We'll Miss you 4
1990 through the end of the 90s Era in 1999 was the best decade of Nascar it was at its peak. Nascar was ultimately mortaly wounded with the death of Dale Sr. and died in 2001 and ultimately died itself at the end of 2003 when Winston sponsored Nascar for the last year. That was it the end of an era. I quit watching after Dale died a part of me died with him. It was the first time I ever lost anyone I cared about I was 14 when he died. I don't talk about it much but I think it impacted me so much because he was my hero my idol other than my dad, because he reminded me of my dad with that big mustache. But two weeks before the 2001 Daytona 500 I actually had a very REAL and very weird dream that Dale passed away in the race it was kinda weird but that Sunday afternoon I was I my grandmother's house watching the race. It was nearly the end of the race and my grandmother changed the channel to Joyce Meyer and I argued with her to watch the end of the race as I turned it back on it was 2 laps to go, and then it happened on the last lap and when Dale hit that wall I got goosebumps and a chill down my spine. I knew in the back of my mind what had happened Dale lost his life. I lived 2.5-3 hours away and on a pitstop on the way home grandmother had to pee and get coffee and she bought 3 Dale Sr. Die cars that happened to be sitting on the counter that I asked her to buy for me because he was my favorite driver and I told her he probably died. When we got back in the van and she turned it on the announcement from MIke Helton cane across the radio and I curled my knees into my chest and started balling. I will never forget that day. I remember watching this race with my dad but was in bed for school before it was over. Dad went and bought me a couple Alan Quickie and Davey Allison die cast the day both of those guys passed away.... miss those days DEALRY now that I'm going on 40 years old
Kyle Petty proved his lack of talent at the end of that race. Wrecked Dale then about killed Davey all within 2 laps. Kyle had a fast car but no talent that night.
This is when NASCAR became Big leauge... the 90s where great for nascar! The drivrs are legends! You got Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt and Davey Allison and Rusty Wallace Bill Elliott ! also the cars where super cool too! Just a awesome Decade to watch nascar!
Rip bobie allison one of the best ever in history
I was 9. chokes me up every time. Time stops when I think about it. I watched every race up to that race. Not many after that day. I remember starting at the TV nothing else mattered had to know what happened. Had no idea at what I watched with his death and waltrips win until years later. I feel so bad for dw. Now if I watch nascar it's pre 2001
(#3) Dale Earnhardt "Forever" !
21:48 Ken is okay
RIP Bobby Allison
And Cale Yarborough. Both absolute legends!
20:57 BAD ASS sight right there. Nothing like the Texaco Havoline Ford. One sharp car! Rest Easy, Davey and Robert.
I hear Dale Earnhardt planned to retire after 2001, no matter if he won the 8th championship or not. So sad and ironic. He was ready to move on and concentrate on DEI, spend more time with Teresa, and farm. And there was serious thought he would retire after 2000. If only. I miss Dale Earnhardt very much.
Kenny handled the entire situation as best as he could knowing what he already knew but his heart ❤️ was broken.
When DW says “OMG Mikey you got it” you could see a brotherly love ❤️ but at the same time knowing his BF was in trouble.
Rip Dale sr. A legend gone too soon
That's The First Time I've Ever Heard Letarte's Voice Over Earnhardt's Radio
One of my favorite Back in the Day👍
Earnhardt died so that loser could win
Earnhardt died doing what he loved. Most are not so fortunate. RIP champ!
28:30 "Ken we just got word they had trouble reviving Dale" Would be interested to know what he said to that. Probably just "I'm not a doctor"
Happy and Sad that day. Mr. Ken Schrader, I'm sorry
34:05 it’s amazing that crash didn’t kill Davey
24Evee
23:31 little inchident
I watched the race and then I cried for hours.
He wanted to know who won the race Sadly he wanted to know about every 30 seconds
Can I say that Cale Yarborough one tough sob??? If I was alive in the 70s and 80s he easily would of been top 3 favorite drivers
I remember watching this race and it honestly was great overall. And kenseth went from overheating on pit road to winning
Davey will always be my favorite, he was so positive and always found that silver lining. My childhood hero left me at 9 years of age but at least I had a few years of Davey Allison to cheer for on the radio then the TV. Years later i find the silver lining. What a humble man, we are lucky to have that man in our world in our lifetime.
Danica Patrick go to the bathroom
And today the all star race is a joke
What is the song at the end
Wow now I know how the All Star race all started now
I come back to this from time to time and I’ll be damned I still cry. Raise Hell Praise Dale
Just a bad accident. I feel sorry for his family and friends. RIP.
It hits home everytime I take my Daytona Jacket out from that day To see that accident live and in person is something you can never forget
I remember getting disappointed that the Daytona 500 got postponed from Sunday to Monday because I knew I was gonna be forced to go to school. But I got lucky because I got sick on Monday with a fever, cold, and sore throat. But then I got annoyed when the rains came back and wondered if they were gonna postpone it again to the next day. Until they made the announcement on the news that they were gonna run the race at night instead. I was so excited and thrilled about it, and enjoyed the race all the way up to the Juan Pablo Montoya incident. I remember my mom calling me up from her place asking me what happened, I said I didn't know from looking at the replay, and when the replay stopped, I saw the huge fire coming from the jet dryer, and even the track got lit on fire. It was incredibly weird. I remember staying up to watch the remainder of the race, and going to bed at around a quarter to 1 AM. It was crazy, but it was worth it.
I don't think there is a movie or rock star that shocked the people more than the loss of Davy and Alan in 1993. WOW, what a devestating year for NASCAR and all the fans. There was a time my sons and I knew all the drivers and their sponsors, but today I don't know anyone who would waste their time watching a NASCAR race. All the greats have passed on or retired. There will never be drivers like Davey, Alan, Dale, Dale Jr. Rusty. Bill, Mark, Richard, Kyle, and all the others who carried us through the 80s and 90s with such excitement and thrills. These guys were racing for the love of it. Not like these cry baby jokers who drive fast and turn left of today.
If he wore a proper helmet he'd prolly be alive.
Petty cheated here, engine was too big
this was richard petty's last ever top 10 in a non points paying race
My first NASCAR race seen live was the Pocono 500 in 2003. Never forget the huge memorial to Dale outside the front entrance of Pocono two years after the accident, flowers pictures, written letters, etc. And like most of us thought that day...meh just hit the wall, he'll be OK....only to find out the impact almost took his head off....thanks to Dale, many lives may have been saved afterwards. RIP
Mike Joy is the definition of professionalism. One of the greatest to ever do it.
Alan kulwicki 1986 rookie of the year,1992 Winston cup champion and 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame and Davey Allison 1987 rookie of the year,1992 Daytona 500 champion and 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame. Both brightest stars gone to soon rest in peace Alan and Davey.
A Very Expensive Race for Race Teams and Car Owners. Along with Talladega.
True legends never die 🫡 rip dale sr and davey Allison
No one will Every Replace Davey and wish we could see MORE instead of Bumper car Earnhart that the Track people would just turn there heads Davey was the King number 28
I would give anything to have been alive and witness this along with the 92 Hooters 500. Amazing races, drivers, times, and memories.
23 years later, rest in peace to the best to ever do it. NASCAR has yet to recover!
What were they going up against in the sunday night timeslot?
NFL?
@@ROWDYBatrulha no, that would be finished. The super bowl is usually the first weekend in February, with daytona being the 2nd (usually)
