18 different cruise lines? That's impressive. I was thinking this might be a good cruise line to take my 94 year old mom on to stimulate her brain a little more. She is in Southern CA so we would have to fly to Seattle. Any suggestions?

Okay, I've been experiencing phantom smells for quite a few years. It started with a very nice smelling perfume, then was vanilla icing, after that was cherry tobacco, the latest one is Christmas tree smell, this happened last week. These smells happened to me in different places that I've lived. I did some research and found there is such a thing, but I don't suffer from any of the health issues they described. So I'm not sure what it is.

I was on the American Queen last year from Red Wing to NOLA. It was my first solo trip since my husband passed away 2 years earlier. I had a fantastic time. I didn't get off the boat much at all. I signed up for the Field of Dreams tour and that was wonderful. My winery tour was cancelled. I just wanted to enjoy the boat. I'm so glad I did. The food was delicious, Phil on piano was so entertaining and so were the stage shows. I've cruised many places and on large ships but the Queen was my favorite. I hope she can be saved somehow.

American Queen voyages had the worst management, I worked for them, wasn’t surprised when they went under…

I use Cetaphil Gentle lotion in a pump bottle. It is fragrance and oil free ,at night. My complexion is beautiful , I get so many compliments that I don't look 70.

You have beautiful skin and you can get by without foundation. You are lovely.

I could just cry. We had looked so forward to going on the American Queen in May of 2024. Of course they closed the company down a few months before. I had hoped the purchase of the Queen by American Cruise line would put the Queen back in service....I guess that won't happen so sad.

The American Queen was built for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company. It was one of 3 riverboats, with the Delta Queen being the oldest. The other was the Mississippi Queen.

Sandy, you need to check your history on when John Waggoner took ownership of the American Queen. I believe you'll find it was 2011.

Sandy, your tour of the boat was lovely, and thanks for your comments. I was a Riverlorian on the American Queen, as well as the American Empress (and the Delta Queen before them). It breaks my heart that the last overnight passenger steamboat still operating, probably in the first world, may be destroyed without a fight. Our country was explored and settled using steamboats (an American invention!), and we can't do better than this? No riverfront can keep her. She is way too big for a town to afford to keep her as a hotel or museum, and it is not honest for ACL to suggest it--they know it can't be done. I wish I had a solution, other than running her, but the reality is that someone needs to put the money in her to fix up what needs to be upgraded, and keep her running. ACL does not want her running, because she is competition for them. By buying her, they can keep her out of the market. I had planned to take my granddaughter on a steamboat trip in a couple of years--four generations in a row--now that won't be possible.

Its very sad. I was an engineer aboard her for almost 30 years and worked the Delta Queen. I have alot of videos of these boats on my RUclips channel.

Sandy- my sisters and I were lucky enough to accompany our father (92) on an upper Mississippi cruise last August. What a magical experience and vessel. It’s heartbreaking that it’s being scrapped. I so was looking forward to cruising her again!!
