    By pulling at the side of the grain on a soft wood, this is testing wood not the glue. If it was end grain against end grain that would show different results. Have a look at the Project Farm glue testing. Testing is difficult to do and requires careful test design, equipment and execution. This was a good try.

      Hi mate, yes I got the one from Travis at Shop Nation. If you buy the one he’s got for the Hercules model of saw it fits perfectly. It does a better job but still isn’t perfect to be honest. It all depends on whether you’re sliding the saw or not. The beauty with such a big saw is that a lot of the time you can just chop straight down rather than sliding which I think helps.

    That gauge for angle cutting. Is it accurate? What do we do with the old kit, throw it away? What about an updating set from Evolution? What do the 'Big Brands' not want us to know? It's always nice to be sponsored by a manufacturer so you can always use the latest stuff but do remember that us poor dudes have to go out and buy it!

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear Месяц назад

      Hi mate, so I’ve answered the questions below for you: - The track square doesn’t work for angled cutting. You’d need to mark your line and then clamp the track to the wood to make an angled cut. - I’d sell the old kit if I bought a new one. That’s what I’ve done in the past and there’s always someone out there who will buy it. - the big brands don’t want you to know that brands like evolution have made a much more affordable track that fits all their saws for a fraction of the cost of their own brand tracks. - it is definitely a perk being able to get free equipment and trust me when I say that I’ve bought my fair share of cheap and second hand tools. I bought my evolution rage 5s table saw brand new when I got more into my woodworking and got everything else second hand from Facebook so I can relate. That’s why I always try and get discount codes for my viewers. Remember, there’s no rush to get the latest thing and you should never feel the pressure to keep up with people like me who gets stuff for free. I’m just here to show you what it’s like so if you do buy it you can hopefully make an informed decision. I hope this helps mate.

    STOP WITH THE "BIG SECRET BULLSHIT"

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear Месяц назад

      Thanks for your kind words. I think the fact that brands like Festool are charging £120 for a single 1.4m track or Bosch are charging £170 for 2 x 1.4m tracks with a connector and carry case when you can get a pack from Evolution with 2 x 1.4m tracks, connector rails, carry bag AND clamps for £100 (plus the free hose channel with my code) that is just as good would be a secret worth telling. There’s a lot of people out there who have track saws who may not realise that you can buy tracks from other brands that are compatible.

  • @awt
    @awt Месяц назад

    I bought into the evolution r185ccsx (the corded one) because I liked the idea of a single saw you can use on and off tracks. But I came to be quite disappointed with it. In particular, I find getting it on the track without dislodging the splinter guard quite difficult - you have to remember to pull back the blade guard, and, well, I never did. Plus, the dust collection is... Non-existent! As you observe, it just goes everywhere because of the open side. I managed to pick up the parkside tracksaw from lidl, and I love it. In particular, I like that it feels safer because you can put it down flat on its sole immediately after cutting. Plus, ofc, you don't have the issue with the splinter guard. I still use the evolution saw for non-track stuff, it's not a bad saw, just I think the track-ness isn't great. I'm quite tempted by some of those new track joining strips though!

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear Месяц назад

      Yeah I definitely agree that it would be good if evolution could make a plunge saw to go with these tracks as plunge saws are so nice to use. The tracks are fantastic and I’ve been told they do work with the parkside saws though. 💪

    Good review of the saw and the new track system. I have the old Evolution track which I bought on a deal with the clamps and the bag for just shy of £70. The track works perfectly with my Makita plunge saw, but does not accept the BenchdogsUK railsquare, or the TSO. I've never been a fan of the connectors that came with either track system as they don't hold the tracks together very well, and the grub scews tend to fall out with vibration. That said, I just couldn't realistically store or transport the Makita 3m track. I'm guessing the cam system helps in this department, and holds the track straight and firmly. £80 with the discount...Might be tempted.

      Thanks mate. I’ve got the Kreg 720 jig as well now which is awesome but I still find myself using this 320 jig regularly as it’s more versatile.

    Hello mate , thanks for the video. I’m joining to big wood boards together edge to edge to make a bigger board so after watching this I think I’m gonna use the gorilla ultimate wood glue. Appreciate the help buddy

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      No worries mate. I used the gorilla PVA glue. Make sure you haven’t got the Polyurethane glue as it’s very different. (Glue should be white and not brown). Make sure you clamp the boards really well when you glue them too.

    Are you concerned with the chemicals in the pressure treating process leaching out into the soil and your plants?

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      Not really to be honest. There will be a plastic liner for the soil so I’m not overly concerned to be fair mate.

    As you run long boards out the door put a hinged shelf across the door at the same level as your mitre saw for out feed support 😊

      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      I like your thinking! I’m going to build some cabinets for my mitre saw which might give it enough support but if not I may try something like that. 👍

    Nice job mate. Quick question hows the base camp mask? Is it any good? Planter looks awesome trust me though as someone who made 3 @ 2.2m legnth your better using the tanalised stuff bit easier cut assemble and move 😮 nice job though 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      Thanks mate, yeah it’s all tanalised so hopefully should last. The base camp mask is comfortable. It can be a bit warm but the soft straps is more comfortable than other masks I’ve worn. I find with my other masks that have plastic and rubber on the mouthpiece that they end up condensing and it can drip onto my project. This one doesn’t do that. My verdict on it is that is good but not perfect.

      @@lionandbear no worries mate thanks would you recommend worthwhile buying it (was yours sent to ya?) I really need sort out mask especially for when am turning and gonna start milling my own timber but am thinking a might be better off saving up for one the air powered ones least then don't have to go through every mask on the market to find the right one. Looks wicked that project hopefully wife is happy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

      @michaelwillson6847 I got sent it mate but had been looking at buying either that one or the RZ Mask which looks very similar. It’s definitely one I’ll keep wearing so I’d recommend it for that. Not sure if you’d want it for turning due to the amount of material flying around. I’d probably get myself something a bit more heavy duty for turning. This one is good for sanding and cutting etc in my opinion.

    hello i have this saw and i like it, i have a problem with the fence though, its not square to the table from bottom to top, so its not plumb, causing my cuts to be out of square, do you have any idea how i can correct this error, thanks in advance.

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      You might be able to get the adjustment you need by checking the angle adjustment lever. There’s a screw at the far end when you set it to 90° which means you can adjust it slightly to get it perfectly square. If that doesn’t work then it could either be the blade isn’t completely flat or the motor is mounted incorrectly. They’ve addressed this in their new table saw (tbl255) so you can adjust all this stuff but there’s not much you can do on the Rage5S apart from what I’ve mentioned above. Hope this helps.

    Are there any good the fire 50mm brad nails true fully could you used it to put a fence up with it but it only comes with one battery 🔋

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear 2 месяца назад

      I’ve just built a garden planter using 50mm brads and it’s worked well mate. It’s not too bad on battery usage but I’ve got the full cordless set with spares so can swap out when it runs out. If you’re building a fence then you’ll probably need a spare battery, if you’re looking for any other cordless tools from them then I recommend the circular saw and jigsaw, both of which are available with batteries so you have a spare.
