Had my late 66 plate OG M2 for just over a year myself. Aside from the discovery of all three diff seals leaking, which was a 4.5 hour job for my excellent technicians, so labour costs were quite high, I haven't had any other issues.

Hi, do you reckon the same splash cover will fit on a 4 series convertible?

So curious as to why any sound improves with the removal of a speaker. Wandering if it’s just not as loud or focused in the front and it makes everything else sound balanced.

I prefer to adjust the sound with a 30 band equalizer and time alignment to each set of speakers in the car. That does require alot more complicated digital interface (toslink) aftermarket amplifier(s), quality dsp, and software to do that using a microphone and white noise to get the frequency response flat first.

Im watching your video as I pick up my car on the 18th June 24 from BMW Southend.2018 car dct 25k miles for 28 grand in white. I’m buying it to get back to enjoying a more engaging experience. I had M2 competition before and M4 Im really not a fan of the engine easy power and terrible noise even with Remus exhaust. I’m thinking these cars will be good news going forward. Thanks Kevin

Alex How did you gain access to install the mesh behind all the grills?

After 4 years with a tuned & modified 2017 M140i, running 455bhp/634nm, upgraded brakes and other bits, I recently got into an OG M2 (late 2016 model). The M140i was noticeably faster from a roll, but the M2 is levels above in every other way. I never expected it to feel so raw and mechanical, for a modern car, I love it.

Where can I order the part from? Please

Strongly suggest removing the " I sprayed the diff with oil" comment. Might fing yourself in a legal battle with BMW if they find this out.

For me: 1. economy 2. Standard gear lever throw/feel 3. Rubbish standard engine mounts 4. Rubbish standard brakes

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm in two minds whether to go back to a Porsche Cayman or go for an M2 so watching and reading the comments about M2s has kinda opened my views on newish BMWs and reoccurring faults. As I would not using a daily, but as fun weekend car I'm in fear that I prolong the inevitable issues which I don't have time to resolve due work commitments. I guess it would have to be down to the extended warranty, so what is the renewal cost year on year and can you extend it further than just a year? TIA

No need to remove the tweeter - just remove the main speaker and disconnect both wires there, and the tweeter is then disabled. Saves some of the fiddly work. Just leave it in place, but disconnected.

LOL!! You think YOU have problems… 😂 I’m having to go to town on my 85,000mile OG F87 on so many areas just to get her back to a complete reset. That’s literally every single fluid, brake rotors and pads, brake and fuel lines, the plugs, coils and sensors, the entire cooling system, pulleys and the intake chargepipe and brackets plus all associated bolts, seals and clamps. I did get her for £14,000 with a full service history and basically all of the mileage was highway driven but the second it threw me an engine overheating warning, I knew I had to go the whole way. Luckily I am a trained mechanic and have worked on countless cars but this one is new to me with all the associated techno-gadgetry and software based input. Mess anything up and you’re stranded so may as well go top to bottom. I know the fundamentals are solid but holy crap there’s a lot that can and does go wrong on these things… which the BMW Stealership only makes worse with their highway robbery prices. FCP Euro to the rescue! Pray for me! 😂🙏🏻

I've been having my M2 for 6 years since new and I don't know since when, I started to feel strong pulling/tramlining on some roads like you do. It's quite noticeable and it scares me sometimes if I hold the steeringwheel with one hand. I did alignment a couple times at different places and tried new tyres. Nothing fixed it. Weird that I definitely didn't notice in the first couple of years.

Been watching your videos on the M2 while considering buying one a co-worker owns, 2018 manual M2 like yours, considering your experience would you say its worth owning one as a daily driver? Not interested in racing the car or even really pushing it to its limits just thinking its a good deal and a great nice car to own would really appreciate your advice thanks and excellent job with the channel I do enjoy the content cheers brother!!!

I have a M235i and before that I had a 435i. The 4 series HK sound system is tremendously better than 2 series.

Try for the bimmertech Alpha One or Bavsound speaker upgrades.

I’m debating an M2 or M3. How is it having a 2 door as a daily driver? Does it get inconvenient having to bend the seat down for people to get in the back?

One thing I'm learning as I spend more and more time in the car world and meeting other enthusiasts is that outside of factory warranty, it's never worth looking for a warranty. The consensus seems to be that when you're buying a used car, aside from really obvious signs of neglect or abuse, there's no real point in trying to ascertain whether or not the used car you're buying is going to be problematic in the future. You just assume it will be, and you're going to need spend money to fix shit that breaks. And 99% of the time, the dealer is the worst place to go. Indy shops are the way to go. I'd gladly buy a used car from a used dealer (and not the manufacturer dealer) and save the dealer premium and skip any sort of extended warranty. Warranties are only good until you actually need to get shit done and realize what a headache it is, and how hard manufacturers will try to deny warranty claims and not spend any money.

That’s crazy! I bought mine m3 f80… week later already back to dealership, oil problems as well, in a week I top up 2L of oil… not happy

I take it you are on the stock Pilot Super Sports? I ditched mine for BMW OE PS4S. The only thing with the star marked PS4S is you can only get them in M3/4 fitment so 255/275. So much better on cold greasy roads, very seldom lose traction compared to the PSS and I have BM3 stage 1.

I’ve owned my white manual m2 since jan 17, I’ve only had one issue and that was condensation in one of the rear light clusters and they were both replaced under warranty even though the car was modified. My car has been serviced at North Oxford every year and again never had any problems with them, also they have been a great help with discounts on Mpeformance parts. In the time I’ve owned it I’ve fitted Full Mpeformance carbon kit, splitters, defuses, spoiler, m2c mirrors, m2c Seats, 763m wheels, Litchfield Ast suspension, camber adjustment hubs, custom stage 2+, Wagner sports cat, cfs intercooler, dorch stage 2 fuel pump, flex fuel sensor, intake pipe, diverted valve, m2CS steering, lsd and traction software. I absolutely love how it’s been so far and certainly will be keeping it for a fair few years yet. Hopefully this year I want to get the gts bonnet and maybe get it wrapped.
