Glastonbury - Market Day
Glastonbury - and it's a Tuesday, Market Day in the centre of the town. I saw wet fish, vegetables and fruit and a plethora of rocks and crystals as well as a few clothes, mostly for women. It was August 6th and I travelled there by bus from nearby Street. Very touristy, I thought, and rather expensive too. I doubt many locals buy things from the independent shops but it was a nice place with a...
Karei Duo, the Woods Brothers fly their Karei Models.
So we finally got a couple of days with a westerly wind, ideal for the slope on which we fly, though it was a little cold for this time of year, 12-13ºC, and we're in flaming June! This time last year in 2023 we were having a heatwave and temperatures hit the low thirties. However, back to the flying. It was good, we flew our two lightweight, light wind Karei models on different days, bro David...
ARESTI 2M Chapter 1
The Aresti 2M is an enlarged version of the ever popular MiniVec. The Aresti has a 2m span and symmetrical section; it stands between the MiniVec and larger Aresti 108. Flown here by David Woods practicing side slipping in the lighter lift, the Aresti 2M makes the most of the lift when it finally comes through. It was a day of showers... we got very wet that day! This is the first of my Aresti ...
August Steam Impression

Canterbury & District Model Engineers Open Day August 12th 2012, Sturry, near Canterbury, Kent, UK Steam trains aren't really my thing but it was a lovely day, it was nearby and it was free. Besides, my friend Alan Plumb is a member and he invited me for the day. Here's just a couple of minutes of my impression of an hour or so at the event. What you can't get from this video is the smell of st...
Fairfield Church

The Walland and Romney Marshes fascinate me; I love the peacefulness of the place, the susurrant hiss of grass and reeds broken only by the squawk of jackdaw or crow. Fairfield Church, splendid in its isolation, near Appledore in Kent, provided me with an interesting subject to video with my TBS quadcopter and GoPro Hero2 on a very early Sunday morning in April 2013. I returned to the place whe...
A January Afternoon
A January walk along the clifftop at Reculver Country Park... Skiron's northwest wind bites my melacholy soul; Helios' golden aura and her chariot makes glow yellow my windburnt face as his steeds gallop across the western sky down to the waves of Ocean; their circadian labours nearly done. The sea still does its business, carving into the soft cliffs, undermining the clifftop. Over a thousand ...
Aresti 2m Chapter 2
No rain this time, just cumulus clouds on a warm English summer's day in July 2015. David Woods flies his Aresti 2M again at Ivinghoe Beacon. A Sony NEX6 was mounted on a Soloshot 'tracker', on a tripod, for the static shots and the Mobius Action camera was mounted in three different positions on the model; this compilation video therefore is an abstract of three flights totalling over 30 mins ...
Herne Bay-May Bank Holiday 2013
Herne Bay over the Bank Holiday weekend of May 5/6th saw me up very early and in the town. A quiet start to the day before the trippers, bikers, jet skiers and families arrived on their days out but they don't know the lovely, peaceful places that I do. Surprisingly for a UK bank holiday weekend, the sky was clear, it was warm, there was sunshine, a light wind... in fact, it was a perfect Sprin...
Futura Jet Turbine

A lovely Spring day on a flying field just north of London and I saw this fantastic glass and carbon composite jet turbine fly. Simon Potter of Phoenix MFC is the pilot of this model, and it just eats up the sky. A stupid mistake by me meant that my best footage was lost but I managed to put together these 2½ minutes of what remained. A lovely model, noisy too, but realistic. For more informati...
Orion over Sand Point
David Woods tucks a first in the Orion's belt as he flies two aircraft at the same time and comes close to wrecking them both! Well not quite what you may imagine since he 'parks' his DJI Mavic Pro quadcopter ready to film his Orion electric glider. He nearly did hit it once, we reckon it came within five feet from a disaster! Just imagine two lots of expensive gear colliding in mid-air. Sand P...

The Mars Spaceship
The Mars Spaceship, I guess, is a re-imagined, enlarged version by John Greenfield of a 1954 model. The original plan by Roy Clough, his 1954 'Anti Gravity Martian Spaceship', a 1930s style 'Flash Gordon' style of craft was published in Model Builder magazine. The original model was smaller and driven by a Wasp .049 I.C. motor. This particular lightweight model is very much larger and has an Li...

I see this and all I can think of are the Flash Gordon serials! Beautiful!
Outstanding!
Glad you like it!
Ming needs also a ship..-!!!🎉❤😂
and if you believe that one I have a bridge in NY
This is Awesome 👍👍!!
Nice! I built one of these from plans from 1990’s Model Builder Magazine and still haven’t gotten the nerve up to try to fly it yet! Maybe someday…
Flash Gordon………….
Is that a request or a statement ? 😂
nice
Omg, so cool. I'm going to build this right away
a lifting body.
very cool.
Thanks for sharing. It reminded me of a brilliant day soaring I had at the Beltinge Cliffs end of Reculver Country Park a couple of years ago. Superb, smooth lift.- awesome!
Thanks. You should look at this one then :-) ruclips.net/video/46yEMFK_yQE/видео.htmlsi=o-_sCnQ7FcpIo4Nn gw
@@favonius1 Thanks. Yes, that's the spot I was soaring from. What a splendid view of the crumbling cliffs! After my little escapade at Ivinghoe a couple of months earlier, I kept well away from the edge!! PS Thanks for all your help that day, by the way!! RIchard
I was surprised how well it flew. Aerobatic too.
Funnily enough I downloaded the plans for this just a month or so ago!
Hi there. Can you give me the address for the download, please?
I haven't really had many opportunities to fly the Karei in good air yet but my brother seems to like it because of its lightweight; around 1,4 kg for a 2,5m span is very good. I love the 1,5m MadSlide because it is so agile in comparison. In fact, I am building a second MadSlide at the moment.
Which one do you prefer Madslide or Karei?
The algorithm led me here. I'm forever changed now. Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for watching!
Yuup! We need to cherish these moments for when we cant make it to the hills.
Thats what slope soaring is all about :)
I'm on a quest for slope and it's a bucket list thing for me... This style of flying is awesome!
Hiya. We can only generally do this type of flying when there is no one about. Such slopes can be absolutely full of people, (picnic-ers, dog walkers, school parties etc.) on some days, especially weekends.
@@favonius1 Wow that is quite challenging indeed but it is a beautiful spot so I can see why. Enjoy! When able :-)
You guys get such rainy weather there but it leaves you with the most beautiful grass filled hills, a slope soaring dream of a location! Very nice flying! Greetings from the California desert! Lol! Yes I can only dream of a spot like yours! ✌️😎👍
Hi Mike, thanks very much it's always nice to get comments. Yes, we do have rain here and we do have wonderful slopes. This slope is on the south coast of England and its fir N and NE winds. We can have problems with multiple paragliders on our hills too if the wind is light. I guess we are blessed with great countryside and should appreciate it more. I see your Remote ID troubles with the FAA and our own CAA has been giving us some issues as well. Regards, Graham (favonius.com)
Beautiful
Thank you
Some nice flying there. Greg.
very Slick!
Thanks Kev.
nice ❤

Many thanks, an excellent aerobatic model from Baudis.. There's some more video on this model on favonius.com.
Muchas gracias, Chao, Graham (favonius.cm)
Thanks, sadly, some of these old guys are no longer with us over this last decade.
The good old days...brilliant...music is hilarious.
Lovely model and great flying skills....at 4.3 metres thats a nice model size in the air.
Big thanks
Good to see something sensible being done at this time of year!
Thanks Paul
I remember a lot of the faces from when I first joined the club in 1995..
Thanks Mike. Some are now gone, it's made me realise how old I am! Age reminds one of one's mortality. If you look at my videos I always include the time and place in the credits.
What? Is this? Wow! Thank you RUclips too, I think you grok what I like, even tho I never 'like'.
Ok dude, had to Google 'grok', a new word for me, so thanks for that.
The music is classical sounding. It's very beautiful.
The music is by English composer Ralph Vaughn Williams. Written in 1914, it was for piano and violin and said to sound like a Skylark hovering and singing in the sky.
I like it ... Best regards !
Many thanks for your feedback.
Some classic pictures in there. Be good to name them all!
I should have done that back then but I can't remember them all now. Here's 40 odd names to be getting on with: Simon Atkinson, Bob Anderson drinking beer, Chas Dunster, Pete Beadle, Pete Stevens, Vince Worsley, Bob Moller, Les Moulster, David Woods, John McCurdy, Me of course, Trevor Webb, Dave Brown, Dave Brackman, John Wheatley, Martin Forrest, Antony Cox, Mike Ellins, Nicky Ellins, Pete Weston and dog, Gillian, Tony Vale, Ian Anderson, Ken Ward, Dave Arnfield, Stan Sarll,John Milne, John Vella-Grech, TIm ?, Pete Perman and Wife, Nick Rolls, Tony Noel, Alan Spicer, Peter Thomas?, Roy Stoward LGC Instructor, Alan (glazier) Adrian Smith, Mike Waller, Barry Ensten, Mike Shellim, Jim Chambers, and John Beasley Spitfire Pilot. These shots are from my old Nikon D8, 200mm zoom film camera, transferred to now defunct PCD files on DVD back in the period of 1993-1996. Most were taken on the Beacon, some on that lovely field we once had at Eaton Bray on Ed's farm. Graham (I didn't know anyone looked at this stuff.)
Nice to a club field with a decent array of models.
This was nice to watch. Might be time to get another slope soarer. Kids have flown the nest. 😁
Very nicely flown! - The wing tip colour, is it the "Neon Orange" as they call it in the Baudis Factory?
Nice video - atmospheric music - sort of sums up why so many of us are flyers :-)
What a nice vidéo, thanks
Good video! I really enjoyed it despite having a stinking cold! Marcus 🙂
Great video :-) Perhaps the CAA should watch this and they may realise the hobby/pastime/sport is not about flying a camera on a drone platform using FPV.
