  • So we finally got a couple of days with a westerly wind, ideal for the slope on which we fly, though it was a little cold for this time of year, 12-13ºC, and we're in flaming June! This time last year in 2023 we were having a heatwave and temperatures hit the low thirties. However, back to the flying. It was good, we flew our two lightweight, light wind Karei models on different days, bro David flew his Raptor (from Baudis) and I flew my little MadSlide from a plan by BPLR as well.
The one thing I'm not happy with about the Karei now I have flown it a few times is the slow roll rate. It's fine in light winds but even flying faster and increasing the inboard and outboard ailerons to a massive amount it still doesn't roll any faster. We're not sure it has enough torsional rigidity at its wing tips. Nevertheless, it is perfect doing what it was designed to do - VTPR in light lift and fly slowly on the very edge of the slope, something it does admirably.
