The best way to get good health is to realize that nomatter what you do you won't live more than 70-80 years generally in this world. Many die before that. The important thing is to keep toxins of the system which means drinking ALOT of water (sufficient amounts) and exercise to the point of fatigue. Then one must eat the bare minimum (very important) and then work on mental health as that affects the body too. Bicycling in my opinion as well as running is the best solution for all types of diseases from lack of work (prevention is better than cure).

It's sunna to have sugar as it is sunna to have sweet foods. To get really good health one should practice archery as a sport as it cures diabetes, etc. (running between the two targets). The biggest problem of the ummah today is that they don't move, they sit all day in front of a computer/X-Box and play games thus ruining the opportunity to get good health and fitness in their developing years. Some people quit meat and become vegan and propagate it's worth but they don't realize that we as humans have teeth both for meat and vegatables. You can't just disregard this (even those who opt for the 'Theory of evolution') and expect to get good results by not eating meat, what Allah (sw) made halal cannot be made haram and vice versa.
