You are so strong, I know it is hard. Thank you for being so honest. I just found out my mom has stage 3a cervical cancer. She gets a pet scan on Wednesday and mri on Thursday. She will know more on September 10th.

I had to empty my parents house with my sisters after their passing. Same house for over 50 years and I made a promise to myself to not do that to my sons. So, when we moved 5 states in 2018, we purged so much. My closet - something in - something out. Loving it now.

Alot of people prefer/ are preferring smaller homes, minimal lifestyle. Our house is 1630 sq ft 3 bedroom 2 baths and its just me, hubby and 3 dogs. Only bought it in 21 because it was a great deal when rent was consistently going higher and higher each year we rented, Have a very manageable mortgage on a fixed income and hardly any furniture, its on a less than 4000 sq ft lot so easy to mow, works for the dogs, can do a lil gardening, property taxes are low and once we hit 65 property tax freezes, toss out old stuff over time..Only thing we really buy for the house are things we need, like bought 2 new ceiling fans, and small things here and there for the kitchen since I love to cook. SMALLER IS MUCH EASIER to manage, maintain, not having to go through 100 shirts and 75 pairs of pants to decide on what to wear for the day, deciding which of the 30 pairs of shoes to wear, which of the numerous loaf pans to make the meatloaf in, which of the dozens of measuring gadgets to use and on and on and on.. pppfffftt to all of thatt!!!!! I have 2 woks that I can cook damn near everything in, 1 big pot for rice, pasta, potatoes, 1 roasting pan for roasts, hams, turkeys, own 4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 small plates for just sandwiches, 4 cereal bowls, have a countertop dishwasher, 1 washer, no dryer, I hang dry everything. Whoever said more is better is a fruitloop.

Thank you Josh I am doing my best to de clutter my life but it isn't easy. I really should have started 10 years ago as now it seems to be such a mammoth task. I guess I will just keep chipping away and one day I might see the light at the end of the tunnel. Will keep watching you for any tips you might offer. Love and light to you and the family 🐰

I’m 71 and getting ready to purge my stuff! Most physical things do not bring me happiness and why hang onto things my children will eventually have to deal with? I want to be free of things to spend more time doing activities I love.

Yes I no my wife passed away may 1 2024 she was 56 thank God I have 4 kids in my life still crying you right nobody can take her place

Hi Josh good to see you ! I loved this video and it has really inspired me to give this decluttering thing a go. I am a self confessed hoarder and so consequently have loads of "stuff" left behind by my Mum Dad and Sister. I know that I will never use it but as you said all these items tend to hold memories of the person they belonged to. I am going to have a look on line for advice and books to read on how I can begin to try and declutter my house and my mind. Love and light to you and yours 🐰

You are so right!! Someone bought me a book called Simple Abundance years ago. The concept is “less is more.” It frees you eliminating things you don’t use!!

Oh as soon as you described multiple baking pans etc I has to laugh.... I am a kitchen "stuff" magpie but use the same core set of tins.... Equally I use many bad words everytime I bake and can't find a set of measureing spoons of which I could start a shop with amount I have.... It needs sorting and has been the catalyst to doing what we are calling our Pre Death De Clutter. I have in recent years had to empty both parents houses, a uncles house and move house ourselves. The double garage that was meant to be a workshop a storage place for dead people's stuff, our stuff that needs sorting and house now filling with more stuff as we can't find stuff in garage 🤦‍♀️ I am bar kitchen Baking Trays a natural minimalist I love the cleanness and freedom of space... My husband and daughter... Who is married and has her own house but so much of her stuff at ours.... are hoarders, keep just incase, it might be useful, you can't have enough leads.... not only computer leads but dog leads and collars of dogs long dead 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Trying to get them to see the memories are not physical things but heart and mind things is hard. I am not allowed to just go clear or put in piles definitely keep as use frequently, possibly keep as frequently used item on last legs will need to replace soon and here is replacement, donate, sell, accept in bucket so I can then get it more manageable for them. I had tried taking pictures of everything so they could look at it and remmber that was not a good suggestion for them. I understand it is hard for them but I know we would feel better, have more time to make memories while we can. I have now done a awful scenario to them of what if me and husband killed in a accident do we want this de clutter task left to my daughter and answer is absolutely no...so work has slowly started. I will lead with my kitchen stuff and show the daily difference it makes then we do a box or drawer each per day It will get done and make life better now and with a eye to looking after my daughter when I am no longer here. 🥰💜X
