Richard Leigh - Too Good To Throw Away

10/27/19 UPDATE: I attempted to remaster this to correct the skip that occurs but was not successful. There are some nasty scuff marks that can not be repaired that are causing the skip.
Uptown - (I Know) I'm Losing You [7" Single Version] - 1987 Oak Lawn Records, Dallas TX

Correctly credited to "Uptown" as it appears directly on the 45 RPM record label. I am aware that it might be credited to "Uptown Girls" elsewhere...
Damn why isn’t this streaming 😤
Works fine for me. Did you accidently click the mute button?
Oh no I can hear this fine! ❤️ it! I meant I wish this tune was available to stream on Apple Music or one of the streaming services but it’s not sadly 😓
@@iwant2pantsyou considerin it's out of print, I'm not surprised.
thank you robert may god bless you
Dallas gal here born and raised, from parents who met in the club scene in the 80’s, found a vinyl copy on eBay to present to them… they lost their minds to that siren 🚨🚨🚨
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing that info. :-)
This got played a lot on the radio here in Southeast Texas.
fabulous record
Listening to this still wrecks my heart after the breakup.😅
Sorry about that. :(
7/14/2023 I gave the record a good cleaning this morning to see if dust / dirt was causing the skip. Unfortunately it's still skipping, so I may have to try another cartridge.
such a good memory to hear this song again. thank you .
Oak Lawn Records released a few compilation CDs back in the day. This song is included on one of those discs - Oak Lawn Records Energy Club Classics. The collections are very rare these days. I'm not aware of any streaming services that have rights to air Oak Lawn Records artists. It's really a shame. Great club memories!
I play it from time to time on my Live365 station. Live365 handles royalty payments for ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and a few others.
💜💜
this is a gem, thank u so much for uploading this. and im grateful for everything that brought me to this song
❤️
Love it 💕
This songs is so beautiful
We've been up, we've been down, honey we've been around Hope we keep on, keep it on It's a mistery to some how we've done what we've done We've been together so long People they ask me what can it be What's the secret of me and you I just smile and say well you see it's this way Here's what you gotta do Smile if it kills you Find some kind lityle things to say 'Cause there is no doubt when you sold it all out It's too good to throw away Well, it saddens me so to see people we know Breaking of life they do And I guess me and you honey, we'll even prove That love that will see you through We've been together a long, long time Troubles we've had a few But when times get hard and things go wrong We know just what to do Smile if it kills you Find some kind little thing to say 'Cause there ain't no doubt when you solve it all out It's too good to throw away Smile if it kills you Find some kind little things to say 'Cause there ain't no doubt when you solve it all out It's too good to throw away
Love these guys!
I absolutely loved this song back in the 80’s…and still do 😂🤣🤣 That siren 🚨 🤣👍🏼

I like it.
Freaking amazing song
Glad I came across this!! Did you happen to be on KEOM a long while back.? I sure know the name **Robert Bass** ;-)
Yup...would still be there too if it wasn't for incompetent management after Dr. Griffin retired.
I remember this song at the club. The sirens would come on, and we'd rush the dance floor.
This so cheesey but still better than today's junk
Met Ron in 97 when I was at ABC RN on Montfort..later as Chief Engineer at Mix102.9 and 97.1, I engineered several Cowboys Radio Network games when KVIL was the flagship and ran into Ron many times, once he was in his robe and flip-flops! A great DJ, personality and loved his job..he was lucky...he did radio right..as it still should be...RIP my friend...you are missed..
Rest easy Ron 💖
Good stuff ... timeless... (Back in the day I was a listener...)
Rip Ron...Thankyou
Dallas Confetti's Favorite! Wild Bill Stanley at the box....
So do they still pay tremendous amounts of money to radio personalities nowadays?
The radio landscape has completely changed and there are few DJ positions available. The Telecom Act of 1996 was the beginning of the end.
For regular radio people, no. Ron finished his radio career at KLUV in 2005. He was the last of the Dallas greats, with big salary to match. So much radio is syndicated or "voice-tracked" today. Fewer live shows, so much less opportunity for developing new talent and the pay is lousy ... about $10-15 per hour. It's a shame, but the radio business got greedy, with the likes of Clear Channel and Randy Michaels. It's no longer about quality programming, but advertising revenue.
it’s too bad this isn’t in the US Itunes store
I still have this record! It's in a box with all of my other albums! I never got rid of any of my albums, cassettes, 8-tracks, 45's or CD's! 😸
I have the 12". Fav dance song of the 80s. Why can't you play it on Spotify??
Otis Conner Female Jingle Singers: Tom Joyner! Otis Conner Jingle Singers: K104!
Wow! Yes, I remember performing as Those Three Girls at Village Station in Dallas With my cousin’s ~ I was all of 18 years old and dancing to this song ~ Wow time really flies ~ in my 50’s now ~ still loving this song and the memories 🥰👍🏾💕🌈🌻
Great memories! Love it! Yes, time screams by. Please let me go back and do it over just once..
Wow had this on a12” vinyl!!! Miss this kind of music!! From Teena Marie’s Square Biz to hit dance tracks like this one!!! Can’t be it what so ever!!!!!!
How I miss those days
Big market radio. Must be like a dream.
This was back in the 1990s and the whole radio broadcasting industry has completely changed...and not in a good way.
Aaaawwwww Yeeeeeaaaahh.
Man that is the jam! I loved working out to this tune in the gym back in the late 80’s.
Exstacy Song for the club 1985 San Angelo Texas ....
Ron Chapman was THE BEST in Radio barr none!!!
The best beat of all time. This song rocks! And I STILL have the record as well. Are they still performing?
I doubt it...they originally recorded it in 1983.
I still have mine, too!
I remember hearing this on some Dallas radio stations back in the mid 80s and just assumed they were playing it all over the country. Had no idea it was just a Dallas thing.
There are always songs that do better in some markets than others. The fact it made the Billboard Hot 100 is impressive. Two other songs that were huge in Dallas include Wham Rap by Wham! and I Will Surrender by 4 Reasons Unknown. The latter was another band from Dallas, TX, and MTV gave their video a lot of airplay.
It was big in fl too. I had such a great time dancing to this
It was at the clubs and radio in Sacramento.
NY too.
The Old Plantation, El Paso, TX. No radio play but this song always got everyone dancing there.♥️
How quaint. Newspapers.
This was taped back in the early 1990s while the Internet was still in its infancy.
I had this album in early 80’s ... unreleased club version.. I wish I still had it
Omg a Dallas classic. Village station...we would run to the dance floor. Wow just awesome!! Takes me back to simpler times. Love love this. Still 🔥 😎
One of my all-time favorite songs! I remember this song from GDI on the river in Memphis Tennessee.
