We take on a 4 day 500km 4x4 offroad track from Namibe Angola to Ruacana Namibia Africa - in 2 days
While overlanding through Angola, we came across a 4x4 only road through Iona National Park and just had to do it. It should take 4-5 days minimum to complete, we had two. That wasn't going to stop us, after all, we were driving a Landrover Defender, what could go wrong?

I needed to get from Dar Es Salaam airport to a bus pick up point to take a bus to Tanga on the Northern Tanzanian coast. Instead of paying $30-$35 for a metered taxi for this, I decided to do what the locals do and take a Tuk-Tuk for around $2.5 and it was so much more fun.
A quick dash from Howick Kwazulu Natal to Cape Town and back on a back road road trip.

This trip took us through many small South African towns in KZN, the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape, the Northern Cape, Free State and into Gauteng. The karoo, mountains, tunnels, winelands and more. Towns include Kokstad, Graaf Reinet, Southerland, Parys.... What a beautiful country.

I have found both ads on you tube but Land Rover did one called The last word, where a Land Rover climbed the cliff from the sea to Chapmans Peak drive.Anybody know where to find a copy of that ad. They were all brilliant.

Great cars, underated we had a 54 model for 19yrs. Overdrive would have been useful. 3.4litre is very long lasting providing oil & coolant are maintained. most mechanical parts similar to XK120. Good to see you using the car as they were meant to be despite restored condition. Mike from Western Australia

Mercedes Benz took BMW to court and withdrawn after a week of first being aired. BMW, though, got something through. 32 years later still remembered. Comparative advertising is illegal in South Africa.
Everyone tells this story in South Africa so I guess that week was worth it.

no, it is registered in 2022 as a 1964 model.
Interesting that one of the two E-types was apparently a clone of the original at some point….(?) 🤔
Not in this case, there's a Nissan with the same chassis number as this E-type. There was a range of Nissan numbers in the 80's which were the same as 3.8 S1 E-types from the 60's!

Yeah Pasha, SA has a huge diversity in landscape and environment, lots of it looks like lots of the US's diversity in landscape and environment. We pretty much just have different animals roaming around. In saying that, I think both countries have stuff to offer that the other doesn't.

40 year old restoration ??? It’s still sounds like a tractor. What’s wrong with it now. What have you actually done to restore it.
Well Russ, besides being slightly tappety, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and she sounds just like she should but then maybe you're not familiar with series one E-Types. The original moss gearbox (if you know what that is) is still installed which creates that whine sound, as they did when new due to not having any synchromesh on first. 1st gear is a straight cut gear not a helical cut gear.
The value is in the originality. Particularly the Mk1 cars as these are the most sought after. This car is worth a fortune. 🇬🇧
