Tim Clinton, Ed.D. (The College of William and Mary) is President of the nearly 50,000-member American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), the largest and most diverse Christian counseling association in the world. He is Professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care, and Executive Director of the Center for Counseling and Family Studies at Liberty University. Licensed in Virginia as both a Professional Counselor (LPC) and Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Tim now spends a majority of his time working with Christian leaders and professional athletes. 10 minutes a day...5 minutes a day? Lower!
About 15 minutes per week...2 minutes a day!
Now, let's not have a rush to judgment. God doesn't punch a prayer time clock. In fact, His Son tells us in Matthew 6:7 to cut the meaningless words. God already knows what we need before we ask Him!
Now I bet you can recite the Lord's Prayer in under 30 seconds. That's about...3 minutes a week. Statistically speaking, that leaves 12 minutes. You're out of words, so what now what?
Be still...and know He is God. It's better to spend 12 minutes with Him, than 12 hours preaching to Him!

Just wanted to say thank you for this insight; it's been an absolute game changer! There are so many little things I've said or done in my relationship that have upset my partner and now I understand why, because they all boiled down to respect, which I hadn't realised was so crucially important to him. Since watching this I've had respect at the back of my mind when interacting and communicating with him and, and used the word "respect" specifically and I am already seeing improvements 🎉💥✨
Damn, i’ve been hating on this guy so much and now I feel so badly. He’s just messed up from watching his dad try to kill his mom and that’s where all of his ridiculous teachings come from. In his mind, he probably just thinks that if she hadn’t back talked to him or whatever, he wouldn’t have tried to strangle her. What a burden to carry. Imagine being so messed up over childhood trauma that you develop a whole ideology around it to command women to respect their spouse even when their spouse is being disrespectful to them. At least he turned his trauma into a 💩ton of money.
This is why men in America no wonder want to be with you liberal white feminist women and are dating international conservative women
Heart intention is far more important than delivery. Delivery is always going to be imperfect. We need to trust that the other person means well and CLARIFY. I find and observe in the west, men tend to clarify a lot more so. Women need to read the heart's intention behind a man who is trying to help but delivers badly.

Then he goes on to say, during conflict, men feel disrespected and women feel unloved… . So I’m curious with his oh-so-popular book “Love & Respect” why this info isn’t included. I mean, if you JUST read his book, it is said that men NEED respect and here’s how you wives need to show it to him. Women, you DESIRE love… here’s how he can show you… . Loses some of it’s manipulation when you admit that both genders need love AND respect equally. . This guy is so toxic.
No, no no! I sign all birthday cards to my husband with LOVE. If I put with respect, he'd wonder what on earth I was doing. It's something you write to someone on a job application. Ridiculous.

Why is it every time I listen to these it sounds like the woman is doing everything right, but she's misunderstood, and the man is the bad one.
That's because it's aimed at men. Look at the corresponding video aimed at women. It's a different emphasis based on who it's aimed at. This video has 20k views. The corresponding video aimed at women is has 58k, nearly three times as many views.

I'm currently there. My wife is so confrontational. Talks to me exactly the same way my mother would anytime I got in trouble as a teen. I chose not to dignify her statements or questions because I feel that it is super disrespectful for someone who is supposed to be my equal to me talking to me as my mother would. My lack of response only serves to anger her even more. We're stuck in this never ending cycle.

I treated him like a king, while keeping myself at the level of a queen, and I got 7+ years of lies and betrayal. He definitely would not have died for me, even though I would have done it for him. I now realize he was placing me in the role of his mother, and expected me to forgive everything he did, all of the lies he told, and love him like nothing ever happened. I’m not his mom, I’m not Jesus. I don’t have to die for him. I am my own person with my own thoughts, feelings and needs. I have lost all respect for him and am no longer attracted to him, and if he wants that back then HE is the one that has to change. Not me. I have a son. I would expect my daughter in law to treat herself with enough dignity to not put up with any kind of emotional garbage from my son as well. If he treats her badly, then she would be right to tell him about himself and up and leave. When you enable your child’s bad behavior, you raise entitled men who think they can do whatever they want and their wives will put up with it, because that’s what their parents and society showed them... and then we see podcasts like this that tell women to just accept that men aren’t as loving and that you, as a woman, need to change to fit his needs. False. Men need to be accountable for their own shortcomings. It is not a woman’s job to mother the grown men in her life. Please. Men, I have one advice for you. Grow up before you get into a relationship. Thank you.

You don’t have to die for your husband. You have to die to yourself. We have to, we must pick up our cross daily and follow Christ. To the life surrendered to Jesus, this is our command.
At marriageable age, I have enough respect for my son that I would not still consider my son as "precious baby boy". So it is actually my HOPE that he meets a woman who will challenge him to evolve even further as a GROWN MAN.

This is something important for women to hear. This is true men don't disrespect each other. We kill each other for that. If women do it we restrain ourselves, but we have a breaking point. This book is 100% true. Here is my problem. When women have to work full time and be moms we don't feel love and cherished by men. Yet most men, even Christian expect women to split the financial job as well as do the mom thing. Very hard to show respect. Both are competing for it then.
Terra Moody feminism is to blame for that one. Women want to be "equal" to men. We never expected or asked women to work. Women fought for their right to work. And the feminist agenda vilified women that were housewifes looking after their children. (Which is a very important job by the way) something society rarely does anymore (valuing raising children).

In I luv Lucy Ricky gets upset about money because Lucy is supposed to use the money to pay household expenses first. The only reason that would be the case is if he's pretty much leaving Lucy in charge of the money. But because she spent the money on an expensive dress he takes over the expenses and gives her an allowance that's left over after household expenses.
