We definitely need some type of regulation in our industry...... Also note, how we feel about someone outside of the facts, should not stop or hinder, businesses access to a platform that they meet the criteria for.... Key phrase is "meet the criteria"

Bad guys will always do bad things. This is just going to add loops for good people to jump through and like that guy said they are going to monopolize everything. It's odd that an entity can just appear out of thin air and FORCE you to use them to just go about your everyday life. Keith Perkins made some good comments in a recent video that made some sense but I just don't know about it all. It seems like a way to just make more money off these shops and or force the little guys out of business. Like he said, crooks will always be able to steal the cars. This isn't about car thefts. This is about control.

Dude, what would you rather, getting a VSP or getting the government involved in producing legislation? The OEs aren’t going to allow just anyone in the theft side of things. NASTF is the go between us in the aftermarket and the OEs. FYI, part of the VSP program will be entering your credentials in your scan tool.

Its been past the 45-60 days since they threatened everyone with locking them out and still nothing has happened. I'm a locksmith that owns my own business and I do have a NASTF account but at this point, I'm not even sure what's going on. Kind of sounds like everything fell apart according to their plan in the beginning.

What's your take on the new Supreme Court ruling reversing the Chevron doctrine? Do you think it will affect NASTF? It takes away all federal government agencies ability to create regulations and interpret law. Kind of destroys the "Law enforcement is going to make you do it anyway" argument. Keep up the great work!

You call is 'circle answering', I've called it 'question shifting' or 'blame shifting'. The same thing is done in gas lighting and by narcissists to make you feel little or dumb. -- I think it's so funny how they're saying 'all tools' will require NASTF like it's federally against the law. And then ya'll asked 'who's all in', and you got ONE answer: AUTEL.

Mechanics in Texas don't need to be licensed and don't make keys but are going to have to get a licensed to work on modules that have security info ! I have 33 + years experience as a locksmith and thinks it's crazy to force mechanics to get a locksmith licensed with is impossible to get without 3 years experience as a locksmith working for a licensed company! Locksmiths in Texas can work as a contractor and not an employee as and for other locksmith company's. Why? We still go through all the background checks withe includ the state and fbi. So who the fuck is nastf to tell me that I have to be an owner or a employee? Who the fuck is nastf to force mechanics to get a locksmith license to program a TCM, ECU, DME ect. FYI my buddy is has had his mechanic shop established for 30+ years and does work that nobody else in the surrounding area can do! He does work on BMW, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar, Ferrari, Lamborghin ect. F nastf and their bullshit excuses and lies

Autel is using this at this moment to keep us in subscription for every tool. My main tool will cost me nearly 2000.00 just for the update and I normally wait a couple of years because we don't see the newest vehicles because of warranty. We now can longer use our tools for even a rear brake job because it will lock you out without update and new licenses and manufacturers will also charge on some makes to access the use without paying them for each use per vehicle. I called autel having 3 scan tools could not perform a function I used for years for electronic parking brake service mode for brakes

Just got locked out this week even to do rear brake job on a 2020 hyundai. Have to get license and also certain makes we will have to pay a fee to access each vehicle to enter that system at around 50.00 per vehicle. This just cost shop for just one scan tool nearly 2500.00 for updates and extras for out maxisys ultra tool

They’ll answer to us when we unite. They know we are divided as divided can be. They will not tell the truth until all this garbage of power and control is established”voluntarily.” Then, we will know it was aloe all along. “Never let a crisis go to waste” also works.

The market will respond and everyone will flock to "non-compliant" tools that will be less of a pain in the ass for 98% of the time. This will accomplish nothing except possibly make things more expensive for the end customer on newer vehicles that require these "compliant" tools. I agree, I just see a power grab to have control. No vehicle I know was stolen with a scan tool. Usually stolen keys and broken ignitions.

Ford use to have a 10min timer before 2013. Even if you increased that to 30min and have the vehicle do some light/horn actuations, that should help with theft and then if you want instant access, a actual voluntary nastf login could be used.

There's a group of people that keep preaching professionalism and taking a position of moral high ground. That same group were the first ones to act immature and launch personal attacks on people that dare question what they're preaching. That's not leadership that's the mark of tyranny. The only thing worse are the ones that criticize them in private but play along in public. Being in this industry is disheartening in many ways, especially with the childish cool clubs and cronyism. The hypocrisy is rampant! The irony is it's another case of so called conservatives selling out to quasi government for a bag of silver coins. It's hard to tell at times if I'm listening to the crooked politicains selling out our country or an automotive group. Nothing about this is voluntary and it does nothing to address it's stated purpose. Nothing! What it does do is attack the mobile mechanic, small shops, and the consumer. That is the purpose of this program, that and to make money for the select few that are running it. There's no effort at notice to any party it costs money to EXCEPT for the ones that'd likely pay for a subscription. Read the Clayton and Sherman act and let's talk about that. This exclusion program and market cornering is exactly why we have antitrust laws. Try as they have to snake around them they haven't because they stayed their purpose to limit the market and drive up prices, that's illegal on its face. The whole story of the OEMs threatening to deny us all access, what a crock! They wouldn't dare, laws would pass so fast they'd lose their behinds! A little common sense goes a long way and that's their problem with you JK, you're telling the truth. Tyranny and conspiracy doesn't want anything to do with the truth.
