3 things you need to know about buying pickleball paddles in 2025
1. USAP Status - Changes to Paddle Approval Process
Overview of USAP Changes: "First up, let’s talk about USAP. There have been some important updates to the approval process for paddles. USAP certification is now more expensive, and some brands may not be officially approved despite using the USAP logo. Be aware of this when shopping around."
What to Look For: "If you're buying a paddle, especially online, check to see if it's listed on the USAP’s official approved list. Some paddles, particularly on platforms like Amazon, might show the USAP logo but are not actually certified."
Pre-order and Waitlist Situation: "A lot of companies, including ours, are offering pre-orders while waiting for...

Big changes are coming to pickleball paddles in 2025! USA Pickleball (USAP) is introducing a new test that checks paddle power, spin, and even uses X-rays, meaning we’ll see paddles focused more on control and comfort rather than just power. Meanwhile, the UPAA has started charging high fees to approve paddles, making it tough for smaller brands. Big names like Joola and Franklin might lean tow...

What is the diff between UPA-A and USAP? For my (new) paddle, UPA-A certifies my paddle, and USAP did not certify my paddle.
Benefit of having a stamp is you at least can hope they were looked at, made to specs and are good quality paddles. Non stamped paddles could be great high quality paddles.... or Chinese junk and might come with issues. Which means if people want to be sure they are getting a good paddle they will look at name brands who have reputations to keep up and the little guys will get overlooked much more often. The little guys, especially newer ones are going to be even more dependent on the reviewers and word of mouth but will still lose out on a lot of sales because of fear. Sort of the same thing just happened in Cornhole...a number of manufactures stopped paying the fees to have their bags stamped but at least the "tech" to manufacture a cornhole bag is a lot less than a high quality Pickleball paddle so the risks are lower.
would love for you to make a vid reacting to our paddles and testing them out on camera with balls. We can send you a free shipment. Message us for details!
Can you make a control paddle with a pistol grip? I play a pistol grip paddle and there aren’t many choices out there.
Do you have anymore of the 5 panel hats?? Just curious 😅
Thanks for putting this together. I really wish there were more Juiced paddle reviews on the Tube.
CRBN Tru Foam has been Approved by USAP. Waiting for Release which should be Jan 2025
Joola is one of the biggest, if not the biggest paddle company, and they are the biggest offender. The idea that throwing money at it legitimizes the paddles is laughable.
PPA/UPA = Incompetent AND Unethical USAPA = Incompetent (but at least they seem ethical)
It's the Crbn Trufoam.
I don't have any of your paddles yet but, in the new year, I plan on buying one because I like to support companies with principles. Thank you for putting the game first.
I make my own paddles for 10 bucks, and don't give a rip about a little sticker on it. don't care about piddly ass tournaments.
Where
Show us on the doll where the tournaments hurt you.
I only play recreationally. I don't play tournaments and I don't watch pro games. So, while interesting, this stuff doesn't really affect me. Personally, I don't like the sponsorship of pro athletics because the cost of the sponsorship is coming out of my pocket when I buy the equipment.
I have both prokennex black ace & joola mod. They're both have been approved and now they want to take back their approval? It's awful. I've also been playing with the black ace for 2years now. The frustrating part is that it's the only paddles that help prevent my tennis elbow and does not hurt my wrist. Frustrating
Good luck with all of the red tape!
Looks like that pocket on the bottom/back is lined like a lunch bag. A great place to keep snacks and protein drinks cold with an ice pack!
Perfect reminder at the end, that it’s more about the player than the paddle. Thank you for the informative video.
Don't get a cheap one as you risk tennis elbow with that
Wonderful. What settings were you in at some of the time? Thanks.
i am drawn to your sincerity and your obvious love for the game & for innovating within the paddle space. Although i've never hit a Kiwi Labs paddle, you've got a new subscriber. Btw, the website contains no mention or extra details regarding the ''free paddles for life giveaway'' that i can see despite searching; just fyi. Much gratitude for this great breakdown of your paddle lineup.
Exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you so much!!
Great hearing a company owner's perspective! I think companies having to compete on price--with the old model keeping the barrier of entry so low--was a huge benefit to consumers. (And then having the marketplace being so confusing was actually what helped reviewers have purpose and break out as the established reviewers had [and still have] access to paddle companies that are very hard to get to even now.) All that being, the positives that stick out to me are two-fold: 1.) I do hope the new paddle regulations will at least keep the nature of open play a little less like a battlefield. 2.) With the new fees, I hope USAP will be better equipped to be faster-moving to not be put out of business and to continue steering the nature of how pickleball is played (at least) at the rec level. If the paddle business becomes purely pro-focused, I think a lot of the social benefits of pickleball will be at risk as folks will be more hesitant to drop in with the game becoming more dangerous and accident-prone with hotter and hotter paddles that folks don't know how to control. This is a surefire way to kill the growth of the sport, and I'm still not sure how viable pro pickleball is as an entertainment spectacle--and even more so if there are fewer people being introduced to the sport at the rec level. UPA's strategy might result in more intense games, but will the gameplay be any more engaging? And who's the audience? I think anyone watching the pro's play are players themselves, and the audience will only shrink if the rec play gateway/entry point to the sport is squeezed shut. But those are just my thoughts! For me, I like that pickleball is a fun and relatively worry-free recreational activity that gets people moving and interacting. And I see USAP as pretty much the only avenue focused on promoting/maintaining that, but they will need capital and resources to maintain influence as the bigger paddle companies would prefer to regulate themselves--first, on paddle standards, and then, second, either intentionally or unintentionally, on price--with collusion and price fixing at higher dollar amounts being the ultimate result IMO. Also, love the Circuit by the way! If that's where rec play goes, I'm excited! Fingers crossed! And sorry if I should have used LESS words here! The grammar police are working overtime! Lol. 😂 Keep up the great and insightful content, Larry!
Where are you...I want to come try out all of the paddles...so I know what you're actually talking about. Then I want to buy the best one. I don't care about price.
We're here to pick-leball your brain...don't censor yourself.
The word is 'fewer' not 'less.' That is, few paddles, fewer companies, not less companies and less paddles.
🫡 Keep up the insightful content Larry!
As someone who loves playing with a 16mm paddle, I can say that the 14mm Circuit keeps pulling me back!
I would love if you made a specs chart with all paddles’ specs for quick comparison.
You guys should do a power foam paddle though. There is no budget foam power option. Such a big hole in the market. Everything foam power is $250+
Your office reminds me of mine. A piece of a new project here, a failed part over there, some stuff that only you might think is cool. Keep up the good work!
lol yes. Organized chaos 😂😂
Larry, you can talk as long as you want. Thank you for putting this video together.
Be careful! You just opened Pandora’s box
I’d love to try the both. Lol

do you do mentorship?
Possibly donating the paddles to schools who are starting pickleball teams would be a great option. I know in my school district an indoor facility just opened up so we’re trying to organize a kids’ league.
Proud of what you've done with your company Larry I'm sure this has been an amazing journey! I'm also in the game and I love seeing you do well with this!
What is the average weight of the paddle?
Same question 😂
Great looking paddle. Assuming not thermoformed?
That's a nice-looking paddle at a great price.
Dude! You forgot to mention the sweet new color overgrips! And that 10pack rainbow!! 😂😂😂
🎉
Another solid offering! Can’t beat raw carbon for under $50!
kiwipickleball.com/products/citrus-t300-raw-carbon-pickleball-paddle
I teach a lot of kids and oldies in my neighborhood… it keeps kids focused and away from crimes and something to channel their energy into… but i keep running out of paddles and mostly we use makeshift wooden paddles. It would be nice to have something decent
Did you mention the price?? 🤔🤔
Swing weight and twist weight please
Thanks for the update! Who does this paddle serve? All court or control leaning?
@@MattyRut2922 definitely all court. It’s very dynamic too. It offers (in my opinion) the most consistent power progression. Meaning, as you hit it harder it will hit true to your power level. Hit it soft and you will get a nice soft shot, hit it hard and you can really feel the 6mm cells+kevlar doing some work for you!
I'm starting to break in my 14mm circuit! Absolutely love the feel of the paddle and wasn't expecting to like a 14mm so much especially since I've typically used 16mm
Wait, what about the beginner paddle you mentioned releases next week?
