What October lull? (Crazy cold front action!)
It will be a lot of money in the future. I see they only planting pine ,hard wood will be king, who holding on to them, like my self.
I bought a wooded farm this past fall that had not been hunted. I put several ladder stands in the woods. I only hunted the woods one time and got busted going in, while I was on the stand, and when I was coming out. There is no way they could smell me due to the thermals.
How do I get in touch with you regarding a consultation?

I had a forestry report done two year ago that list the trees and the DBH size for the trees. It was part of a plan for EQUIP, can I use that when I finally sell timber?
Was it done at the time of purchase and was it appraised?
I want to know how can I have a 5 acre lot in cleared for free by selling the clearing company in the timber on the lot. For example like some soil companies will pay you for your topsoil and put in a pond for free
Seriously the music is louder than your voice. Wtf
Love your desk. I always log as a last resort/step, after non-commercial thinning has been done properly and a burn or two is completed. I don’t want to give up acorns or oak leaf litter that will carry the fire that allows the area to be managed as needed. Some woods are too far gone sadly or weren’t woods to start out with and need a different approach.
I have about 5 acres of timber to sell in Summerville, SC. Everyone wants to charge me to take it away. Do you have any recommendations?
Yeah that doesn’t surprise me for something that small. The cost of moving in is more than the value of the wood
What an amazing showcase of a full day's work! Logging Ohio hardwoods looks like a challenging and rewarding process. Great job! 🌲💪
❤ Absolutely Awesome show❤
Thanks for sharing your experience, helps me decide what to do with my woods. Like your format except the music, makes it harder to hear & focus on your words/teaching. Just not necessary & distracting from the meat. Food for thought for you. It won't keep me from watching your kids. Thanks again for sharing
I was just walking my line today and noticed they had repainted the trees and put up the pink markers but my question is to you as a logger if a tree has blue markings paint on it do you cut that or does that mean that’s the line and you don’t cut I’m sure they only cutting pines but the trees in question are oak trees and they do have blue paint do y’all cut them without talking to the joining owner it just seems to me the pink tape is more on my side and they are going to take that blue marked oak should I be worried sorry for asking I know your busy I just don’t know where I stand I would rather give up pines than oaks but yes it is painted who would you talk to about this the land owner didn’t live by oh and it didn’t have new paint on it where as other trees are painted fresh does that mean anything
How many acres is the property? And how many acres did you harvest?
55, cut 40
Man i have 20 acres in michigan. Im working on it for habitat work. With everyones advice i went to the usda got a forestry plan made. Forester came did his plan. I did this in hopes of him helping me log. Contacted 3 foresters only 1 got back to me he made my plan. Wanted him to help me log. Basically told me it wast worth it. Now im contacting loggers. Getting nothing dont people work any more. Got with one other forestry just before the plan at my house for my mother in laws house in sothern michigan she had close to 30 nice black wallnut trees forester made a contract and after the time on the contract lapsed never got a bid for any loggers. Im about to just cut my woods all for fire wood. Lol
Unfortunately, that is the reality of some blocks of Timber. If you have nothing but low-grade timber and small quantities, you will not find anybody willing to cut it as it is a net loss most of the time. In that scenario, Yes, you’re literally better off cutting it yourself and working it up for Fire Wood.
Which part part of southern ohio are you out of?
I live in tuscarawas Co but work across most of Ohio.
@treestandforestry cool, I live right outside Fayetteville, oh about 45 minutes east of Cincinnati, I've cut timber on and off for about 15 years, but about a year ago I went off on my own and obtained my LLC'S and became fully insured, I run a small 2 man crew, just me and a gentleman that works for me, i love cutting timber, I just wish I could find more jobs, but it's pretty cool coming across your channel and knowing your from your in ohio
The lack if pressure is Huuuge the Timber definitely helps n pays bug benefits but 15 years of no hunting n zero impact .. helps lol ! Lucky man !! I have 270 acres in WPA n have done 3 select cuts n takes a bit for them to come back in May do one more larger cut !! Continued Success 😎 🇺🇸
A real cutter,be careful.
Will 50-100 year oaks still produce acorns?
Yes
Filling some freezers
How many deer did you just wipe out of the local population over the next 10 years? You'll be bitching in a couple years about where the deer went.Geniuses!
Do you ever donate the meat? I don’t even see that many deer in a week in Oregon 😢
😂❤
Yes, we have a lot of families in our area that don’t hunt that love the meat!
Young man, you haven’t seen cold hunting weather 15 or 20° I laugh you have no idea about hunting in cold weather I’ve had in Ohio Central Ohio all my life 05° below. You need to rethink your whole idea about cold weather hunting in Ohio. I think you can do a lot better than this video. This one you can maybe pack it away.
🙂
I live here in southern central Ohio and there's hundreds of deer you can look at anytime but the farms there on dont allow hunting and they own so much land all those deer never leave. It's really a shame because the car hits are crazy numbers where the deer cross to the other side of the road.
corn piles, cell cams and crossbows with scent proof blinds means they are mostly dying. Pennsylvania syndrome setting in
Ohio isn’t what it used to be and neither is Iowa and Illinois. There are multiple reasons for this, some having more impact than others. I’m 57 and I’m sure I have lived through the Golden Age of deer and turkey hunting. But, a word of caution: do not judge your properties against the ones you see on TV and other media. Most of those are not realistic. A guy can waste the remainder of his life chasing greener grass that doesn’t exist outside a fantasy world.
All the deer you see on that land is all there is in that vicinity why we are down to 1 doe yearly in certain county’s that once was abundant also before long deer will be gone and be man and the coyote pray this new bill is going to pass we’re out of state hunters can only hunt here on a lottery system
That looks like a franklin 170s2
Being honest here. I use to guide in KY long years back . Guys talking about their states being no good for deer hunting. Talking about leasing land. Well I made it make sense. Said if you only have a week or two to hunt for the year why pay 4 or 5 k a year to lease when you can pay half that and go hunt an outfitter. Just make sure it’s not a heavy hunted outfitter. Check their book dates for the whole season so you’ll know if it is.
Any recommendations on outfitters?
@ Best to find what state you are planning and research the outfitter before booking. 👍
Do you do timber appraisal in central Illinois?
Yes
Can you send me information?
Southeastern ohio here I've never hunted any other states but right here at home in ohio. When you get to many out of towers that will kill anything with antlers an then you set back an wonder why ohio sucks deer hunting just think of all the land that gets lease an again ya wonder why ohio sucks deer hunting how about guys don't drive deer like they usedto why they have no place to hunt. An everybody wants to set in a stand while gun hunting walk your lazy asses around the woods fields. Every youtube channel has the worlds best ohio big buck hunter's that ever lived some of the bucks they call giants is hilarious stop shooting small young bucks that's why i don't let people hunt not even family period
I live near chillicothe Ohio Are you interested in looking at my timber?
Had a timber expert cruise my woolot in southeastern Ohio and estimated we had 13000 bdft of walnut with 15% veneer averaging 23" on the small end...what is walnut get bought for this time of year in southern Ohio?
Depends a lot but you should be able to average 2.00-2.50/foot for walnut with some veneer mixed in.
Don’t sell why would you
Congrats on the doe! Sad but true reality that Ohio is far past prime. While the burbs of Columbus routinely put out giants on the TBofOH, the small property owners with corn piles and crossbows will blame license buying nonresidents rather than have accountability for how things have deteriorated. Between EHD and droughts, if people can’t control their index fingers to shoot more does and less bucks…hole in the hull of the boat will lead to a shipwreck fast.
What you talking about? That doe is next year's buck
What's fucking Michigan is shooting too many does and the season is extended to 4 months long. People shooting 2 bucks in Oct. Then the season is still 2 more months long. So they buy a doe tag and keep hunting bucks.
Lol. Ok.
What part of Ohio are you in and do you do consulting? I have 83 acres in Frazeysburg Ohio and have been trying to get it set up right, had it for 3 years now, put in some plots, but thinking of doing some selective logging to get mor bedding
Yes I do! That’s not far from me at all!
Fill out the “contact me” form on my website Treestandforestry.com
Looks like you helped the farmer and the DNR 😂
Whats wrong with corn piles you never hunted in south we proubly got 50 feeders on 2300 acre lease
sweet video. how do you get audio on those drone shots?
Will they want 25 trees 2ft plus in diameter?
Potentially, depending on species and you will need to find a small operation
Thank you so much for the great information. FYI I wear hearing aids and the music made it very difficult for me to follow what you were saying.
Thanks for the input, I have since eliminated the music in my videos
Good times in WV! I wish my 364 acres in Hardy County had that much activity.
Fine work. Enjoy the venison
Lots of good eating!
Good stuff! Our deer season was wild this year in KY. Keep it up
I have over 200 acres of beautiful white oak in west Tennessee that hasn’t been harvested in close to 100 years. Any recommendations or advice you would like to offer? Thanks in advance.
Yes, the main thing is to get all the trees marked that will be getting cut and have multiple buyers place prices on the same trees. Those two things will avoid a lot of issues that you may have. Also, if possible source people that you have referrals from people that do good work and do not rip up a property.
I have 41/2 acres in WV mostly woods is it worth looking into trying to sell my trees
No, most buyers have a 10-20 acre minimum
How are the ticks on the deer there?
I have not killed a deer yet this year, so I have not been able to examine any myself yet. Just from walking through the woods, though I have had a crazy amount of ticks this year.
That is fun action! We had does being pushed around back on Nov 2nd. I have 3 bucks pushing a doe about 300yrds away. Right now, watch your rut action as I watch mine live!
Cool
I have a lot of white ash on my 25acre. Average 22 to 32 at chest height. Tall and clear. Will it be worth it for me to sell?
Are my comments getting deleted?
No
I think it is youtube.... the word sh-oo-t.
Kinda frustrating that us public land hunters will have to drive around trucks that could be hunting private. Especially when you can sit on private and pass deer
Don't pass on a deer that would make you happy. Regardless of your neighbors. If you are not happy with 4.5 on private, you'd better only take a 5.5 on public.
@@wyattgardner3552😢
I think our lack of rain, and eager tag filler following EHD have shifted antler and age quality downward. Cant imagine what quality we would have if the corn piles went away. Good luck and keep sharing the grind.
Just had a good one show up so the Chase begins now!
