The Stone Roses at Reading - Ian Brown's interview
Просмотров 51 тыс.17 лет назад
This is a scrap of Ian Brown's 'press conference' held on August 25, 1996, hours before The Stone Roses' last ever official gig at Reading, apparently the last nail in the band's coffin. The quality isn't striking, but that's how I got it in the first place. Ian on John (who had left the band in April of that year): "My man didn't want to play with me (sic). He hasn't wanted to play with us sin...
The Stone Roses Live at the Haçienda + Reni interviewed

(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister filmed for Snub TV with a tiny bit of Reni speaking. That quote about being 'the biggest band in our street' had made it onto numerous pieces written about the band. Both the gig and the interview took place in Haçienda on January 30, 1989, or, according to a different source, on February 27. Here's a pretty good NME review of the gig: www.pdmcauley.co.uk/NME11Ma...

Willesden Medical Centre there in the opening shot, if anyone wants to recreate a low-budget Fools Gold vid without going to Lanzarote... Ian not a fan of the fruit from Anza's Bazaar and No. 140 is a sauna.... Where's Reni going? Is it into Savers?!
They had there whole world in there hards for a minute ❤😊😊
Oh look a P shop
It's not them
It's ian brown and an engineer thats who it is.
The Roses+Marley 💯
If you didn’t live through this phase you can never understand the impact these boys had.. it was like a movement against the system and they had millions willing to follow them anywhere
If I was told I would never ever hear a single note by the fucking Stone Roses again I really wouldn’t care one iota. One of the most overated tub thumpers ever.
They were good at this point. Shit beforehand and shit afterwards though.
"What's psychedelic?" - exactly
One day i'll hear some live SR where IB isn't outrageously out of tune.
listen to the glasgow green gig in 1990, Ian sings very well that gig, also their last gig with OG lineup before the reunion
Imagine Coldplay acting like this haha
Shaun Ryder slurring his words, piss drunk on camera. You would never be able to get away with that kind of behavior today. 80s
The Roses' peak is mindblowing. The talent was obviously there and their early stuff and Second Coming had their moments, but the 'magic dust' was really sprinkled on them around 1987-90. The look, the tunes. They had a stronger 'peak' than most bands.
You can hear Sunshine in that tune another belter belted out by king Monkee
The guy at 0:09 passed that box like a boss.
I think this was '89
Gareth looks, sounds, acts, and undoubtedly stank, like a fuckin...slimey bastard, it makes you actually literally cringe. lol You can just..sense the gleeful predatory way about him. It's fucking gross, and off-putting, or it is to me. He seems like one you wanna watch out having your kids around too.
Anyone the song playing the background at the beginning
God love em. Although didnt it make a big difference, squirrel records, or the disastrous deal that sabotaged their creativity and destroyed the band? 4AD was brilliant btw when it comes to end of the 80s Don't know why everyone complains about two great albums and a bunch of pioneering singles. Ian's solo catalogue is awesome with at least 3 great albums just for starters.
01:34 Note that the The Sun title has been written over with the words The Scum
What is the music playing at the very start of the video?
Love it
As much as the Roses are my favorite band, I don't know if they followed the exact trajectory they were destined to... They gave us an album without a single bad song. Pure perfection. Other groups we love give us 5 or six albums with a few amazing songs.
They gave us two mate…. Second Coming Is Mega !! 🤙🏽
"Fight those who fight against us!" Ironic when Russel Brand is right next to him.
Man made scoinc boom lucky boro fc
Jesus Christ it sounds bloody awful.
They were off their tits on weed everytime they were interviewed in the early days, no need to try and dissect what they were on about because like many youngsters of their day, they didn't give a shit, just they were brilliant at making music so their thoughts were recorded
That was so fucking depressing. I miss Baggy. I miss them. I miss Madchester. Just fuck all
Oooo to be in that crowd
Lazy Ian
His hair.....loving this hair style. Proper suits him. Best haircut I've seen on him. Looks awesome.
Awwww xxx
That album cover. Beautiful. Beautiful. Incredible.
Unfinished Monkey Business. Unreal. Amazing album.
It’s just too painful to watch, seriously, heartbreaking.
'I am the Resurrection' what a tune!
Ian proper giving us a looo at this favourite tamborine
Thankyou for sharing this human experience. Until we return to IWAB!! IS, WAS, ALWAYS BEEN!! Enjoy the Dream.
played this at my mothers funeral felt right
😂👏
Gareth Evans is like a real life version of David Brent
I was thinking g the same thing!
Lmao fuckin cartoon character.. except a weirdo on ..dirty cocaine.
what a Bellend
What a megalomaniacal p.o.s. Gareth is! So arrogant, so full of himself, so full of shite! Reminds me of a certain American president that just got booted out of office. Grime central. It hurts because the Stone Roses are one of my all time favorites. I remember aching for their second album to come out. I still get euphoric listening to the first one.
That Trackie top tho 😍😍🙌🙌🙌
In time he handed my award over!! 🙊
Someday Steve Coogan MUST play Gareth Evans in a film.
@28:50 LORDS OF THE RING THAT'S STONE ROSES SONG. 😂
Hearing and seeing the guys mixing Fools Gold is so fucking good
No slim jeans there and no slim fit tops and rightly so !!! 👍
because everyone wore them in the 80´s before that
I am convinced Gareth Evans is not a real person, but a parody, a caricature of the too-often heard of "band manager" preying on naïve', young musicians who simply wanted to get their music heard. These people lie, steal, cheat and exploit the talent of others for their own personal gain. To hear this guy say "nothing about the downfall" of the Stone Roses can be attributed to him and then to suggest "he was the Stone Roses" is breathtaking balderdash. Evans milked them, suffocated them, and ultimately he created the conditions that would destroy them. Lost with the demise of this band was potentially wonderful music that never came to be. A proper manager sees the first album as a spring board to greatness and immediately channels that inspiration into a follow-up. Instead their first album is a mere bright shining meteor of greatness that lasted only a short time. Stone Roses fans, hell music fans in general, should feel cheated the Stone Roses did not have the chance to realize their potential because their manager was a snake. But imagine how they felt? It was their career and lives Evans tossed into the trash. I hope Mani gets that chance to piss on that dude's grave.
Love Stone Roses and Ian’s music but honestly he can’t sing. Feeble voice. No power.
