Nice video pal, what river is that ? looks really familier

Happy Christmas, and just keep fishing how you want to fish, not how any of us tell you to ! 👍😉🏴🎄
@@phil7301 happy Christmas and thanks for the advice 🙏
You never seem to loose feed Adam, do you do it at all? Im recovering from knee surgery so can't drive, thanks for the fishing video
Occasionally I’ll offer a small pinch of ground bait for smell to get fish a little active but 90% of the time I’ll just use a single bait and no offering at all but I’ll select swims that look like a fish could be active and feeding in. To use loose feed (free offerings) every time I go fishing would cost too much money. If you can guess where a fish is than it will probably eat a worm etc and if there is multiple fish present then hopefully they will compete for the worm. That’s why I’m always worried of spooking chub after catching one because they are not eating lots just the 1 food item with a hook in it. I also loose feed wet bread if I use bread. Thanks a lot for watching 👍
Merry Xmas nice fish 😊

@@BrianE2507-x2i thanks I put this introduction in this vid and next video it’s not new but sounds more cristmassy . Happy Christmas 🎄
Nice one! Especially with all the snags all around. Just like you, when hooked into a monster from the deep, I'm often thinking" Just let me see it and I will be happy"
Thanks and it’s so true especially here where everyone believes the otters have killed everything over a pound in weight. I was so happy to prove a carp can survive in this area🎣🐟
Not really sure why your intro has a river rodent, a major part of the decline of fish species in our once wonderful rivers, them taking the bigger fish, comorants " the black death " taking decent roach etc and pollution taking its toll too, its a wonder any fish are leftin our rivers!!!
@@bobchamberlain4823 yes and no. The otter has a place in our rivers far more than you and I. They can’t be eating only big fish as they have been in this area for 25 years + and I’ve caught a 13lb river carp and a 8lb 12 oz river bream plus plenty of large 4lb+ chub all in this Callander year. I’ve seen photos of a 3lb roach and many 2lb roach caught this calander year also. I’ve been told the largest barbel caught this year is 12lb + where you see me fish. Cormorants are feeding here because humans have raped the ocean of its fish. If the river was how you’d like it to be as in large specimen fish in every swim it would be bad for all the small fish fry and the fish eggs that big barbel, carp and chub etc would consume. To answer your question bluntly I like otters and I want them in our rivers. They get the blame for everything which honestly from someone who practically lives for rivers is just not fair. The Eastern Europeans have killed our rivers by removing large females during the spawning season. I’ve seen it happen and reported it on 4 separate occasions. They take the pike and barbel until they don’t easily catch them. They use gill nets. Now on to the water company discharging untreated sewage (bleach etc) on a day basis which affects the fishes biology so they cannot reproduce. Water abstraction causes silt to gather on spawning grounds. Please don’t be offended by these facts but also please don’t ask me such a stupid question ever again.
@dabberlocksisjustoutofview9013 I see far too many of the various types of German that are wiping out our rivers in suffolk, my apologies for asking " a stupid question " , I will just move on to other angling channels that don't include " fluffies and tree hugger climatetard hoax believers" 😁
God bless you
@@dabberlocksisjustoutofview9013 and God bless you too
Really enjoying your vidoes, Adam! Curious what size reel you generally use when quiver-tipping, 3000?
@@cm3499 thank you. I think this reel in this video is the 3000 shimanu something but it started jamming up slightly on the drag which would have lost a bit of fish for sure so I bought a maver something or other ( green one with green line) which is lovely on the drag as it’s on the front of the reel. I got rid of the gimmicky green line and put some 8lb guru mono line on it and I use loads of different strength hook links but usually 5.8lb fluorocarbon as my go to set up👍 thanks a lot for watching and commenting on my video 🙏
@dabberlocksisjustoutofview9013 thank you for your reply, 3000 seems about right for both float and light ledger. Keep up the videos, I'm really enjoying working my way through them 👍 Love the balance between fishing and just being there observing nature. Exactly how I enjoy my fishing. Tight lines and all that.
Light quivertip and link leger fishing can be infuriating at times, even the biggest of wrap around a can have you striking into thin air! Lovely looking swim though ❤
@@MrTim207 so true! I tend to believe the big fast bites are small fish and those tiny little ones that barely even move the tip are the big chub or the the slow deliberate bites which we all love. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting 🙏
Hi Adam, have a go with a Large, Banded, White Wafter, stays on till You take it off !! They're "Dumbbell" shaped so the band stays in the middle. And, catch a few fish on the same one.
Thanks for the suggestion 👍
Well done for not swearing. Nice simple fishing 🙂

Otter
There was always a big chub down by the wooden footbridge during summer 🤔

An interesting video as usual Adam. Just for my clarification - when you refer to the 'free' section, is it the stretch running from below the sluice gate, through Westmead playing fields? How far does it extend? Thanks.

Good to see another video from you enjoying the river, emersed in the nature surrounding it. Hopefully the rain will hold off now for the coming days heading towards Christmas. Tight lines there 🎣.
Thank you 🙏
Water release from dams is a daily problem here, although I would have thought that at Chippenham, the amount of water released and the the length of time it is released wouldn't be quite low. Enough to mess with the fishing though! Here, the fish seem to feed better as the water level/flow changes...better as it falls but still better as it rises than at constant flow. No idea why...extra food washed down maybe??
@@tonylocke3010 thank you that’s very similar but definitely on a much smaller scale. I find it fishes best at it’s highest and then dropping. Oddly a constant flow whether high or low seems the best at Chippenham. I intended to share the video so as anyone who wants to fish there should be prepared to leave a swim at the drop of a hat. 🎩 thanks again 🙏
It breaks my heart to see the conditions..Really hope the fish can adapt..Nature always finds a way of bouncing back let's be positive ..❤❤
@@BrianE2507-x2i it’s not ideal for sure but it’s also a river carrying extra water at the moment so the affect is really exaggerated. Tomorrow will be a great days fishing, thanks a lot for watching and commenting 🎣🐟
15 years ago this was a really nice bit of river..lots of waterbirds and wildlife in abundance 12 months a year.. Very good fishing with a nice head of bream , roach ,perch and big chub around the weir pool..some really big carp cruising around too... Then just down stream fantastic chub and barbel fishing with some nice pike showing up regularly too.. Past the bridge ..Still good chub, roach, big perch the odd barbel and some good pike all the way through the woods.. Now ..it's a silent shadow of its former self..no dabchicks, coots or moorhens..no mallards or even domestic released ducks ( there was even a pair of gadwall here in the early 2000s..) ..half the big willows have gone.and the fishing is extremely disappointing compared to what it once was..hordes of minnows being the only really abundant species present..alongside a few smallish chub...it's very, very sad
@@Martin-v3v9p there are still some fish of all the species you mentioned in this stretch it’s only carp I haven’t seen for myself over the last few years. The moorhen are doing ok on this stretch but that’s the only species of water I’m likely to see here. It certainly does need plenty of tree work being done but that’s can be said for the whole river. I’m not sure how the fish fry would survive the recent floods which would in turn see the wildlife disappear? Lots to ponder when you fish here🙏
Surely it will erode the banks 10x faster coming up an down like that the fish dont stand a chance spawning
@@catalickconverta6823 it might less severe at spawning season and it gets more extreme with extra water in the river like today. Thanks for commenting 🎣🐟
Like the chubbing missions in splendid isolation on the bank, inspiring me to get back out there. Tight lines!

Hi Mate Believe it or not I caught that Chub on cheese paste, just above the weir at Kellaways. It weighed 13lb 13oz and a couple of weeks later it appeared on an On the Bank Angling video. Must just like the thrill of being captured. 😮
🤣 I think it’s a possible mistake there on the weight but I was also above the weir by about 500 or so yards so it must live there. They are such a long lived and fascinating fish. Thanks a lot for commenting and for watching my video 🎣🐟
Great video Adam, and river looking in really good condition. Was that a stretch down stream from Westmead playing fields? Didn't really recognize it, so just wondered. As I have said before, it's amazing to me that you don't see anyone else fishing in these lovely swims!
@@miketasker5661 thanks, I was fishing the bottom end of peckingnells at the start of the video and finished half way down the kallerways stretch. It’s really difficult to access the river due to overgrowth and trees plus snags in the river which pits people off fishing here and plus there are otters usually present but I’ve not seen them since the bitch and 2 young swam past me a few months back. Hallelujah beavers! Thanks a lot for watching and commenting 🎣🐟 ps the video before this one is below the playing fields 👍
Thanks for clarifying, Adam. Just about to watch 324.
