Ohio is not California or Florida, and the Cleveland area blue collar demographic could not absorb the yearly price increases for a beloved family oriented amusement park. Those who could afford the price increases went to Disneyland. The management miscalculated, took on too much debt, and destroyed an affordable family summer attraction. My family went there for 40 years. It was sad to watch greed destroy this famous Ohio icon.

Shame on Cedar Fair for closing it, esp the way they did. It could have been re-branded (pay to ride) as to not compete with their other parks and still turn a profit. So many memories and to just close was atrocious. I did enjoy the documentary and agree that everyone had a part in the downfall, but CF closed it. Why wouldn’t CF pay to restore the Big Dipper? That was a beloved coaster. Why not move it to CP? I’m sure if funds were needed, people would’ve contributed. I too had many memories there. To bad it couldn’t have stayed open.

Crazy to think that I rode Serial Thriller once back in 2001 on our only trip to GLSF and then once when it was relocated to Michigan Adventure around 2009 without even knowing until I did research a year later.

Geauga Dog, the old midway games, the beach, River boat ride with real paddle wheels , the rotor , the rocket ship ride , the giant slide with the burlap bags , the old fashion car ride,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I went when I was a tot in 1971 till i was an adult and got to take my daughter there one time after 6 flags took over. SIX FLAGS CAN KISS MY A$$ !!!!

Love that I happened upon this. My favorite memory of six flags when it existed was the two story ball pit in the looney toons themed ride area. As well as the water based shows they had, jet ski, dolphin didnt mater loved it!

It's sad that over the years all of the developers thought that making it bigger and better was keeping it alive and that was the falsehood. This was the absolute best amusement park when it was small and personal

Great Video! Congrats on the success of your channel. You should look into doing a video on Coney Island in Cincinnati, OH (Batavia, OH). Coney Island opened in 1870 and, just like Geauga Lake, closed at the end of the season in 2023. Heartbreaking.

OMG! The river boat ride was the best ride for me. The first time I went to Geauga Lake was in 1968. We went every year till we moved to New Mexico in 1975. To this day I tell my adult son stories about having fun there every summer.

The problem was is six flags bought them the ceder fair thats why it was ruined and closed

I live 45 minutes away from Holiday world I am a platinum season pass holder, this park is like none other in the world, they rebuild the track on each of their three wooden roller coasters every year in every 5 years they rebuild the entire structure, that is how The Raven can still be in perfect condition after almost 30 years, I can tell you from experience they are the most safety conscious park in the world and the things that they do are just incredible, they build a new ride every year alternating between the water park and the regular Park

I'm 35 years old. Live in Youngstown ohio. Getting a season pass every year when I was kid. I have to many awesome memories there and it still brings tear too my eye knowing it's no more. Probably was my favorite place on earth. R.I.P G.L. You'll be missed forever

KI is a Great park! The Racer got a complete retrack for this year. I’m excited to get some rides on both blue and red sides. Mystic Timbers isn’t in my Top 4 at KI. I’ve rode it several times too.

I thought it was awesome. Blew my mind. I did a loop on a wooden roller coaster was a little rough but just as rough as the original beast haven’t been there since 2005.

I grew up going to Kings Island. I also went to Cedar Point a lot. I love BOTH amusement parks. I went to Disney World once too and I had this idea in my head that it was like Kings Island but even better and on steroids. And it wasn’t at all! It sucked! They had terrible rides and only a few roller coasters that had lines two to three hours long. I HATED Disney World. It’s funny because Disney is regarded as the best amusement park on earth and it’s not even the best in the US. Kings Island and Cedar Point are the best and I feel privileged to live near them. My favorite coaster there was Son of Beast and Vortex but now it’s the Beast since SOB and Vortex are gone.
