    Wife has this laptop. Just got upgrading it. I hope whoever at HP put this design together always steps in water when wearing socks. B/c this was a massive pain to pull apart and work on. They went all-in on this "form over function" sleek look by not providing easy-access panels on the bottom. Having to remove the entire mobo to upgrade/replace key components is awful. Surprised they didn't just go the extra mile and glue everything together to really underline the fact they consider these laptops disposables, and would prefer someone popping $ to just buy a new one. Hardware has been "good enough" for the past 5-10 years in PC / laptop world, so PC/laptop manufacturers have to find annoying ways to force more purchases, like making it a super PITA to work on them. Currently I'm trying to find a way to get a 2.5" drive into that empty bay, and all the folks answering on the HP forums keep saying 'get the hard drive kit' but don't provide part number. They go "look in the manual!" and the manual lists the part number for a rubber sleeve, but not the hard drive bay kit or the connector cable. It's like pulling teeth. Plus, I ended up on HP's parts site try to find the parts, and ran across the prices for 8gb ram, new SSD M2, etc.. and they are OUTRAGEOUS. They want $80 for a 8gb stick of ram, $250 for the small M2 SSD that came with it. That's crazy. Either HP is into highway robbery, or they're trying to price things i a way to push folks to give up and buy a new laptop. Not sure I'd buy an HP laptop again b/c of all this. Which is ironic, b/c I just bought an HP EliteDesk G2 mini pc, and I love the thing.

    Mac OS X If you are using Mac OS X, a preferences file will be created for you on the first time you run DOSBox (as of version 0.73). This file contains the same system settings and initialization values as the dosbox.conf file on other systems. It can be found (and modified) at ~/Library/Preferences/DOSBox 0.73 Preferences, where ~/ is your user profile folder (usually /Macintosh HD/Users/username/). The exact folder name in the Finder may vary, depending on the language you use for OS X.

    After you first run DOSBox, go to the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder and open the newly created file DOSBox 0.74 Preferences. The exact folder name in the Finder may vary, depending on the language you use for OS X. By editing this file, you can set the system settings and initialization values that define your emulated environment. You can also add MOUNT commands to the AUTOEXEC section at the bottom of the configuration files, so that you do not have to type them in every time you start DOSBox.

    At 9:58 in the video, you can see that there is a SATA slot that is currently unused in this model, which is the same model I own. I'm curious if it's possible to install a 2.5" SSD in the empty disk bay and connect it to the unused SATA slot using the purple SATA cable that you began to disconnect at 10:46. Interestingly, this purple SATA cable appears to have the same serial number as the one mentioned in the manual for adding a second disk. The only issue I've encountered is that the cable that came with the laptop lacks the SATA connector required to connect it to the SSD, as it only has the part that connects it to the motherboard. I know that there are easier ways to do this, but I already have an SSD and I wanted to upgrade my 14m-b and I can't afford a new M.2. or an official sata cable for this specific laptop model thanks for your time! amazing video

  • @Digmen1
    @Digmen1 11 месяцев назад

    I do wish the modular power supply makers would stop putting three SATA plugs on each cable - it makes it hard to connect up. I'd like to see three cables supplied with only one SATA plug on ecah one. Short, Medium and Long in length. That way we could keep our computers nice and tidy.
