    here my question sir: im a registered HVAC tech for a 15 years so can I apply for contractor license? or I have to tramit like a certified tech first?

    • @constructionseminars4197
      @constructionseminars4197 3 дня назад

      You do not have to become a certified technician first. Your 15 years of experience (as long as it was under a licensed HVAC contractor) qualifies you for testing for your own license.

  • @rideoregonfirst
    @rideoregonfirst 7 дней назад

    The way I read 220.82(C)(3) is that if you have a heat pump with a furnace, you would use 100% of the heat pump AND (code uses word AND) 65%% of the supplemental furnace heat. In this very common residential case, it is not heat OR A/C, It is A/C heat pump at 100% PLUS furnace heat at 65% as one of the choices in (C) Am I reading this wrong? All RUclipsrs seem to be sticking with heat OR A/C, not considering (C)(3).

    • @constructionseminars4197
      @constructionseminars4197 6 дней назад

      The purpose of the video is to prepare folks that are taking the exam. The vast majority of exams don’t take into account the common real world scenario of having supplemental heat. This is the reason that I did not include that information in the video.

      Using Annex C has nothing to do with derating. It is simply a sizing tool. The ampacity that you are allowed to carry is based on three tables in article 310.

    Thanks for the video! I was trying to find what I need to prepare for the exam and the information was too scattered and unclear. Now that I'm watching this, it encourages me a lot. I've only built a few houses, but have been designing and engineering them (as a hobby) for a while, yet completely detached from the verbiage used in the industry. If I can have the book with me at the exam, then that solves most of it.

    I find it very difficult to locate information in the IRC. Glazing is a perfect example. When you use the index it does not reference other areas that also give info for glazing requirements. I find this type of issue everywhere in IRC. When taking a test that only gives you 90 seconds to find the answer, the structure issues of the book make this impossible.

    • @zjomamma1904
      @zjomamma1904 2 месяца назад

      that's why he says you have to understand what is the context first. if you're looking for glazing in general( let's say opening requirements ) the index would send you to chapter 3 . however if glazing pops up related to energy efficiency (the context would be energy efficiency) then you would find glazing in chapter 11.

    I think the calculation is wrong. Adding all the load for individual should be 36,100 instead of 34,600. If you multiply by 10 unit that would be a big error.

    • @constructionseminars4197
      @constructionseminars4197 5 месяцев назад

      Yes, you are correct. 36,100 x 10 = 361,000. 361,000 x 43% = 155,230. 155,230/240 = 646.79 amperes. That would still require 700A service so the final answer on a test would be the same. Sorry about the mistake, looks like you are the first one to catch it. Good job. Hopefully the math concepts and steps still communicate well.
