Volcanico magnifico! Coaches should be compulsory, but then there'd be some folks out of motorcar business. Lots of people, surprisingly. A stunning severe landscape keeping in mind you're on islands. Enjoyed that muchly. 🙂
The house at 9 minutes 33 seconds nick Burnham of youtube Aquaholic did a tour of it
Aah thanks, I'll take a look!
@shaungeraghtytravel aquaholic incredible £1.6 million waterside house tour
Another nice stroll through a place I'd never heard of or seen. Thanks for sharing your sojourns with us uncommonly commonfolk. (Now I want tapas and an array of subtropical drinks, please).
Thanks Joseph!
According to my follow-along map, that first beach is called Playa de la Mujeres (Women's Beach), followed by Playa de la Cera (Wax Beach), and finally Playa de Papagayo (Parrot Beach). Had you gone a bit further there are two small restaurants overlooking the beach. The photos show grilled fish and ice cold drinks of varying types. Thanks for another good venture into lands I've never seen, Shaun & Nina, and we'll come along again on your next adventure. 🏖🌍
Thanks Joseph. Most people who got to the third beach went by car, but if I'm there on a slightly cooler day I'll definitely walk all the way. Cheers!
Think I even saw you somewhere recognised that hat
Haha I guess there arent many hats like that around Torbay. Thanks John
Just got back from Brixham found it bit built up compared to were i normally go in north Devon loved Dartmouth and back pool sands but thanks for showing all the places I missed also loved babbercome
I followed your travels via your photos earlier in the year, so these short clips were lovely to see. My heart yearns for the time I spent there, twice, once on business, once for Fasnacht and romance. As you panned right from the top of Mt. Pilatus, the pointy peak across the Vierwaldstattersee (Lake of the Four Cantons), Rigi is clearly visible, which was featured in the previous clip. Glad I clicked on this as I thought I had already seen it. Ha!
Another fine walkabout in your local environs. Much enjoyed following along on the map, seeing where and how things lie and play out. Spent some time trying to find the name of the other little rock isle east of Thatcher Rock and could not find it identified on any of a few different maps. Had I waited in the video a bit longer, my search would have been rewarded with the name Oarstone. A lovely day to remember on Remembrance Day. ♪♫♪
Thanks for sharing your favourite places, Shaun and Nina! Such a lovely place!
👍👍👍
Dreek? Dreake? Great word, that. Dreary + freak, reek, meek, weak, creak? Did I spy the long iron tongue of a scythe fixed to the wrought iron, its handle standing beside it to the right just as you walked in through the stone arch? And are you north or south of Luscombe Hill? My guesses are just north between Colley and Greenway lanes, or just south where my map indicates "Dawlish Water". As a former guide in the mountains above Santa Barbara and areas therewith, if I ventured into places I'd never been, I carried a small sack of little push-pin flag markers to follow back out from a confusing wanderway, picking them up on the way out. Of course bones or breadcrumbs work well, too. Strange place and a horrorful tale. Surely someone has made a film or written a story about it, no? Thanks for another sojourn into Dawlishisly moorish places not far from home. ♪♫♪ (Note: Sorry for the long comment, but I found where it is along with Lidwell Farm in subsequent querying).
Dreich. Its a Scottish word meaning the weather is grey, overcast and dull. Sometimes it just fits perfectly. Yes the Lidwell Chapel is just to to the west of Luscombe Castle and Hill. When we look down the valley towards the farm, that's the hill on the left. The stream which emerges from the ground alongside the Chapel runs down the valley and eventually joins Dawlish Water until they reach the sea.
@@shaungeraghtytravel Thanks for the etymological on "dreich". A perfectly drear-encompassing word, indeed! I see the whole of Little Haldon on the map so thanks for the orientation. Sometimes the online pushpins don't align perfectly. :-)
When I saw the timestamp on the travelogue, I kinda surmised you weren't walking it, at least not without the jetpacks on. Very much enjoyed this jaunt with you and the lovely Nina as co-narrator. Calling out the stops was appreciated as I like to follow along on the map, town to village, looking for various all mentioned landmarks and rivers (Little Dart took a bit of time, but I found it and the Mole River). Did I have a three-tiered deja vu in the panniers market? And even some Herman's Hermits from the busker. (Peter Noone lives in my old home town of Santa Barbara and I've run into him many times over the years at the most improbable places. He's always spotting me first and waves hello, comes round, and for some reason he thinks he knows me from perhaps in the creative world circles, always friendly, and we share a few moments and he's off. Still looks 16 years old. Ha!) Anyway, Shaun, love these merry jaunts to places I've never seen so close up. Thanks for producing & posting! ♪♫♪
How fantastic that you followed our journey on a map. And what a coincidence that you know Peter Noone personally. I wonder if he would have liked the Barnstaple Busker's version of 'I'm into Something Good' LOL. Thanks Joseph very much appreciated!
@@shaungeraghtytravel I love maps and seeing the lay of the land. Village names and their histories intrigue me and as we've watched all of Penelope Keith's "Village Of The Year" shows as well as numerous other UK travel shows. She visited Porlock on the North Devon Coast, as well. Lastly, I think Peter would indeed love anyone covering his old songs. If I ever run into him again, I'll be sure to tell him of your timely Barnstaple encounter. ♪♫♪
Interesting place and great story! Thanks, Shaun!
The studio looks very nice I’m stung up a home studio for my shows
Very interesting.
Cheers Graham!
That place hasn't changed since I was there a few years ago.
You did well to find it Angus!
Fascinating. The energies there need major clearing!
Really enjoying your travels Shaun.
Cheers Deb!
Another fine jaunt in and through a lovely Devon Coast village. And may I compliment you on your fine camera work, steady and unjumbly, making for another excellent travelogue! 🙂
Over 20 years ago I spent hours in winter walking the whole beach night time, when needed, searching for oiled Guillemots and other sea birds. Rescued many, some survived. Lovely place Budleigh and the Otter too.
It is a beautiful place. Many thanks for commenting Bob!
Lovely....I know it well. Sand a bit lumpy what? Just kidding. God bless you out on your adventures. God bless Budleigh too.
The sea sounds different there, more basso and rockground as compared to our West Coast American waves constantly bearing tidings from our Hawaiian Islands and beyond. Autumn here finds us at 90-degrees F for a few days then more autumnal temps will at last settle in not unlike those adorable black swans! Great camera work, Shaun, especially noted on your professional pan of the train. We could use you on set as cinematographer! Sounded like those ducks were having a good laugh at something or someone. Love the river's stepdowns, slowing and regulating the waterflow. Who was that waving at you from the sidewalk at the 6:00-minute mark? A lovely village (and we've visited scores in the UK via travel shows and videos like yours), even enjoyed pausing the clip to read the history of water management improvements. Thank you for sharing these many looks at the Devon Coast and glimpses of your life there. 🙂
I worked in cuhfm hospital radio Ireland 102.0 fm
Good on you Barry. I did over 30 years at Hospital Radio Stafford too
What a lovely place! Nice to see a cameo from Nina too! 😄
I use Audacity to tidy up the audio files for my videos.
Thanks for the tour ,Shaun. Stunning spot !
Thanks for a fun and informative romp at the border between Wales & England. Those slitted/slotted windows were for arrow-letting---the merciless raining down of tufted bow-propelled pointysticks upon your enemy (or the occasional odd lazy gardener or after-battle bone-gatherer). This brief hour-long history video on Chepstow Castle populated in the margin, which I will place in queue for viewing later and provide link here: ruclips.net/video/TvLBtJRHBxw/видео.html
That bench outside is legend! Me and The Progmeister sat on it eating sarnies in the rain waiting for the pub to open!
Krazz is getting brave these days when you think that he was worried about being kidnapped when heading down the lane from our house to the pub next door!
An experience never to be forgotten! 😂
Wonderful video with beautiful views. Great actors who are very informative of what to do and not do when visiting historic castles. Makes me wish that I was there living in this beautiful stone castle. Thank you for sharing.
Chepstow is a lovely place. Thanks for your company, as always, Shaun!
Really enjoyed this, thank you! Looking forward to to the next episodes of Shaun’s Sojourns/Geraghty‘s Gallivants. 😄
Greatly enjoyed that wee walkabout, Shaun. Very interesting to us Yanks, the side-by-side shared history, the vinyl tortoises, the relative calm of a small town in the countryside. As you know, all of our old structures are either Spanish or indigenous-made, some still well in use and resided in, others in beautiful ruin. Santa Fe boasts the Palace of the Governors built in 1610 and is still in use, and Sky City, also in New Mexico, has been continuously inhabited since the 1100's. I've been to both several times as well as Mesa Verdé and many other indigenous sites. The UK remains quite fascinating to me for all the history and the amazing places I've seen only in travelogues such as yours. Thanks again and look forward to more of your sojourns. Great to see Colin in the wings as well!
Really enjoyed that Shaun and Colin! Thanks!
Lovely.
