    They shoukd of kept the craftsman renamed it the handyman and got rid of the handyman. #1 reason what handyman needs a corkscrew theyd more less need a quick tough phillips to finish work sround the house or change blades or bits on tools etc etc.

    The current version of the Woorkchamp XL uses a liner lock, which makes the caplifter lockable too, making it a great, small prytool. Additional, the current Workchamp does include the belt cutter from the 111m Rescue knife. My daily EDC is a cybertool, most used tools are the scissors (surprise :D) and the pliers (as a heavy duty tweezer)

    I have the brushed version. I got it from directtoolsoutlet.com 3 years ago for $75 to replace my gas one that died. It came with the same charger, 4ah battery, 5 refill strings and the quick change head. Love way lighter than the gas trimmer and cuts just as good.

    Because of the width i always thought the Swisschamp, workchamp ect. (so the really big ones with "everything" on it) were for collectors mainly. As a competitor of the Leathermans i would see the Swisstool. Sure Leatherman has improoved in the way of replacable saws and cutting surfaces inside the pliers. And you can open several tools with one hand. The quality feel of Victorinox they still don't reach. I have 2 Leatherman Charge ALx and 1 Swistool but i don'T remember the model, it has a bit set + an angles bitdriver. Like with allen keys you have a short and long side where you can put normal bits. Leatherman on the other hand offer a ratched which is great. But the normal bitholders on Leathermans need specific leatherman bits. (One charge lives in one car, the Swisstool in the other, and one Charge lives in my backpack for work. And a Vic Sportsman lives in my trouser pocket ;-) )

      A lot of people EDC the Swisschamp, also the Cybertool L which is about the same width. They are even suitable for pocket carry, my Swisschamp fits into the coin pocket of my jeans no problem. But because of the width it's not the best if you have a lot of cutting or sawing tasks to do. It's more of a carry to cover multiple needs which may or may not arise. For example if I'm going camping and know that I will need to do some sawing and cutting, I'll take my Farmer which is more comfortable to use for those tasks. For office work my Climber. Some people will carry a slimmer model in their pocket e.g. Tinker or Climber, and have the Champ in their bag for unexpected jobs. There are even larger models than the Swisschamp like the XLT, those are definitely more for collectors.

    I will never buy another Leatherman. They do not care about their customers, they are way over priced, they don't advertise their attachments or extras, and you can get amazing quality clones nowadays from Roxon and Bibury. I have 2 surge clones, 1 wave clone, and 2 old school Leathermans. I have them placed in multiple spots so I always have one close by when I need one.

    3:06 - I absolutely love the Surge, I think that if it had a better knife steel that was good enough that I dont have to carry a separate pocket knife, it would be the perfect tool for me. But even I think its too heavy and bulky to carry around if im not doing something where im likely to need it. I mean, its actually so much mass that I used it as a heat sink once.

    Good video. The weak point on it is the wire cutters. I used and abused it for 1 year. I’ve opened tuna cans with the package opener. It’s very dangerous I wouldn’t recommend it. I tried to cut 14 gauge wire the screw snapped it was a catastrophic failure. I bought a new one it’s so handy. I use it every day. Scissors cut zip ties real good. The key ring I took off. I use a quick release on my key chain. I snap it on the bottle opener.

      It's an older Craftsman before they added the hook. Handyman and Craftsman have been sold at the same time, then Victorinox discontinued the Craftsman line.

  • @simonh6371
    @simonh6371 29 дней назад

    I nearly got this but then I went for the Swisschamp (it was a good price and with black scales, my preference) just for the inline Phillips screwdriver, I honestly couldn't care less about the added fish scaler and magnifying glass, but to me the extra thickness is worth it for that Phllips SD. EDIT: as usual I typed the comment before watching to the end. THIS ISN'T A HANDYMAN. It's the now discontinued Craftsman. The Handyman has a corkscrew instead of the backtool Phillips driver. I'd probably have bought it, if it did. You have a great SAK there but they are hard to find nowadays.

    I think the main question is if how often do you use the pliers. In that aspect Leatherman is the better option. If you not use the pliers every similar tool is better in the victorinox. Even the warranty 25 years vs lifetime.

    Micra is 99% there for me, I especially like the knife more, the file, the tweezers, having a ruler, and obviously the scissors are great... but pliers are a nice tool to always have on hand, so many uses... so unfortunately even though I'd say the micra is better, gerber dime wins for me.

    Thanks for the review. I have had a Worx trimmer for the past 3 years an it is ready to be retired. A note about the fast charger, If you fast charge your battery you will reduce the life of the battery. As these batteries begin to age(more charge cycles), the capacity will begin to drop. Using a fast charger all the time just accelerates the decline. The best solution is to use multiple batteries so you can slow charge them overnight. You should be able to buy extra slow chargers cheap from all the people buying the fast chargers. So, how did I get my Worx trimmer to last so long. Easy. I made an adapter for the trimmer so I could use the 6.0 AH batteries I use on my Porter Cable Drills and such. I have many of these batteries and switch them out just before they die. I did the same trick with my battery operated blower and now I can do all the lawn maintenance and clean-up with two batteries. I am getting tired of the weak trimmer line of the Worx so I will probably switch to Ryobi tools and garden stuff. Thanks again!!!!!

    • @kgrdiy1928
      @kgrdiy1928 Месяц назад

Since he only wanted $10 for it, it ended up as a Christmas present. She quit carrying it, and I picked it up. My solution: three of the 6AH batteries + fast charger + solid cutterhead for the trimmer. The latter will work through heavy(ish) weeds and tree sprouts. I have three batteries because I also have the AWD 21" mower and the blower. The 6AH batteries work for as long as I care to keep at any given task at my age. I also have one of the 16" chainsaws on backorder at HD and I'm glad to say that I sold off the last of my gasoline-powered tools at a garage sale last weekend. Those batteries are eyewarteringly expensive so I'm hoping that the life is decent.

    Nice review. I carry both. The SC lite I carry in my wallet and have done so for 8-9 years. The minichamp lite I've carried for about 15 years and have a small pocket clip attached to the key ring. I don't always carry the minichamp, but do so when I'm going to need a bottle cap opener (like at a BBQ). What I love about the SC lite is the magnifying glass and the straight pin. I use the magnifying glass all the time if I've forgotten my reading glasses and can't read the menu or bill at a restaurant. The straight pin has come in handy a number of times primarily to unplug a spray can, open a SIM card slot or unplug a glue tube. A couple of years ago, I kept track of how many times I typically need to use one of these SAK tools and I was surprised to see it average about 5 times a day over a 2 week period, more on the weekend.

    • @kgrdiy1928
      @kgrdiy1928 Месяц назад

      It's good that you kept track of the usage. I found myself doing something similar. I wanted to make sure I was using my tools as much as possible. That's the point of owning them. I at least use the SC lite 4-5 times a week, more than anything, the tweezers and the scissors. Thanks for sharing 👍
