New Mexico BDR Day 2 - October 2020 - Ruidoso to Truth or Consequences
Day two on the New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Route with the Yamaha WR250R.
This is a shorter video showing clips from NM BDR Day 2. This section isn't as scenic as day 1, but it is still a unique part of New Mexico.

It uses an empty relay socket in the existing wiring harness and the front option connector to power auxiliary lights and accessories with a compact wiring installation. My bike is a 2016 model.

    I also went to CR 308B (the location in your vid) during that time when Sandy Creek was flooding however it was way too scary and risky for me to cross. And like you've mentioned the other side is private most likely. The people living on the other side wouldn't have been able to come out during that time when Sandy Creek was flooded like that.

    I found out how to program this but start this on atleast 3 blocks of straight road to ride without stopping: Put the bike first in neutral- once you have it plugged into the ecu turn on the over- Hit the kill switch of your bike to on- The indicator should say L- Start your bike and from a stop shift into 1st- Let go of the clutch and ride in 1st gear while its flashing the number 1- It will then flash into a small letter N- When it does that IMMEDIATELY SHIFT into 2ND GEAR- ride in 2nd gear until its done flashing and turns from a number 2 to a small letter N- Then shift into 3rd and ride in 3rd gear until its done flashing and turns to a small letter N- Keep doing this all the way through until 6th gear these same steps and once you get to 6th gear ride out the gear till its a solid 6 and its not flashin a number 6. Then it will be program and done :) if you mess up while trying to do this and you get stuck at a stop sign or red light. Pull over and turn off the bike. Turn the key over and hit the kill switch on and then off about 6-7 times until it starts with the letter L. Then you can try to program the gears again. The programming must be done without stopping from 1st-6th gear :)

    2022 model rpm indicator; OMG so small. just sold my color TFT on bmw. what a difference. Can't see it in sunlight. So thought how do i see rpm to change gear; well every 10km as its set 10-,20,30,40km is each gear; nev er had anything go thru gears this quick. Thought my F800R was quick; a HD would be first at 40 mph and I'm in 4th gear. WHY; spend my life shifting up to go around the corner; 3rd gear creeping ! Really. So disappointed. even tr07,9 was way longer in first, 2nd. other than that; comfy and nice bike for the bucks. Scooters leaving me in their dust !!

    I'm shocked at having to replace a chain at such low mileage. My previous bike a Honda varadero 1000 the chain lasted 42,000 miles & infact the chain was still in the green at the adjusters but the sprockets were well worn . My cb500xh had a replacement chain fitted 2,000 miles before I bought the bike & I'm hoping that it lasts alot longer than yours. Thanks, Ian.

If your focus is dirt road and trail use or you just like quality suspension, then yes, the shock kit is definitely worth it. The fork kit is also very good. With both, the suspension is much closer to a quality enduro suspension.

    • @joshuaw8540
      @joshuaw8540 3 года назад

      I didn't do the full NM BDR. I did the route from Carlsbad to Grants then went back to Carlsbad. I also skipped some of the BDR on the 1st day to reduce the mileage. The days are long and seven days straight of 150-200 miles wore me out. It was still enjoyable, but shorter days would have been nice. The route from Truth or Consequences to Reserve is amazing, but the rocky section noted on the map really is rocky and is slow going. There wasn't anything too difficult on the route - the most challenging sections were the sandy stretch along the White Sands missile range and there is a relatively steep climb out of Chloride canyon.

    Not sure if someone else has mentioned yet, but to get the cluster connecter off, you need to move the lead over a hump in the frame where a grommet holds the cluster. Hard to describe but once you do that, you get access to a bit more length of cable and you can pull the cluster forward enough to disconnect it.

    This is the kind of niche content I love this website for. It's so interesting to see other places in the world that aren't the usual places that people go. Thanks for posting your travels!
