    • @eyhpoon

I have never tried replacing the valve cover myself. I remember around 50000km, the dealer replaced the entire cover. It depends on what I need, I do quite a bit of research around for what I need and pricing. For example, I bought the oil kit/fluid kit/Brake kit from FCP in USA (although not genuine), shipping is very expensive but I think its important to get the right spec of products in these cases. The genuine Volvo tie rods however (plus a set of genuine rim, used but very new), genuine cabin filters and wiper blades, I bought them from auto supplies in China because that gives me a best price including shipping cost (because there is sea freight available, but buying from Europe/USA I have to used expensive services like UPS/Fedex/DHL). You can also try local Volvo dealer to order parts, but normally not the cheapest option. Brake fluid and Coolant, I just use the local product which meet the specs.

@@eyhpoonThe Transmission Control Module (TCM) registers ATF temperatures above a certain threshold. As the count increases over time, the TCM will modify the change profile to compensate for the age and condition of the fluid. You now have new fluid in which can handle higher temperatures but the TCM doesn't know this so the old fluid temperature counts are being added to the new fluid count. This means that the TCM could eventually be using a sub optimal change profile unnecessarily and prematurely. All of the above is dependant on transmission fluid history and individual conditions so none of it may be *absolutely necessary* or all of it will be absolutely essential. I don't know your exact circumstances but there is a process. Likewise with the fluid temperature. That temperature range means the fluid is at a specific volume. Too cool, you won't drain enough when setting the level, too hot, you may drain too much. Whether you do all this is personal choice but from experience of doing work myself, I do it like the manufacturer says unless I have a really good reason to be different. The reset process is shown in my video here along with a fluid change on a similar gearbox. ruclips.net/video/YaQ5VsCfMDo/видео.html Hope that helps.
