Tang Soo Do Hyung - Naihanchi Cho Dan
Almost equal to Jion from Shotokan.. very well executed.
Don't sweat it bro. Everyone has their own interpretation. I don't know you not your background. But I love seeing your take on things, sometimes it's often similar if not the same to my own, and others are completely different. There is beauty in difference. We are all different. It's not just finger prints. Just keep doing you. If others want to question throw snide remarks etc. just keep moving forward, let it go. I hope one day we will get to train brother. All my best. 👊🇰🇷‼️
Like ur videos dude keyboard warriors let them talk they just hate to hate
They I N S E C U R E
Kata does not save lives! These beautiful forms should not be thrown away they should be preserved but they should also be explained god dammit! Nobody has time and money to spend and waste on bulshit routines without explanation! If the traditional Arts are to survive there needs to be a change!
Hello sir I've commented on your nahanchi I I'm also a sardan in tangsoo do but I trained in shotokan first some 40 years ago and I am in my class moderating the forms between the to styles because I don't think the tangsoo do that I know change a lot of forms to far away from the actual bunhai that a lot of masters I know understand the practical applications of the pinnar systems you are a good and intresting martial artist and I love most your forms but the nabachin forms should be practiced the Japanese way you carry on and don't lett any criticism get you down your good for the Internet world of martial arts tangsoo
I don't do TSD or karate, but I actually enjoy your channel! Great teaching, great attitude really good insights and you move really well. I enjoy watching any really good teacher teach their art, even if I don't train it. --And that's the great thing about social media. The bad thing, as you know, is that it has produced a VAST number of people who are very, very opinionated and have very little or zero experience actually training. It always seems the comments section of just about any random martial arts related RUclips video is the largest collection of martial arts experts ever assembled. Keep doing what you're doing!
I think karate and Tang sudo are excellent traditional martial arts! My big issue is everyone's making demonstration videos of them doing their crisp kata routines without explanation of why the movements are the way they are and that just pisses me off to no end! When I was a child I studied ITF style Taekwondo and went through form after form after form and when I asked my instructors why we were doing the movements and what they meant they became offended and I was looked at as being disrespectful? I just wish martial arts instructors would start giving explanations and logical reason to the traditional movements instead of teaching dance routines for the love of God! Seriously if you go to a boxing gym you know what a jab is and you know what a Jab is for and then you learn the right cross and you learn what the right cross is for! The same with wrestling you learn what a double a takedown is for after drilling the movement why does karate and other Far East Asian Styles still have to have this beautiful Kata rendition with no explanation to their paying customers? Seriously that is why traditional martial arts studios are failing because they're not providing practical self-defense Behind These movements! Tell your students why they're doing what they're doing before they get their nose broken and laughed at❤ and this is not a finger pointed at you sir I love your channel I am speaking out against other organizations in general
Dude- you are one of the best out there on-line. I have noticed a few times that you do some moves a little differently than I have learned over the past 20 years but your technique is smooth and you are SHARP. I love your instruction on the Naihanchi forms among others. I am a Sam Dan in Tang Soo Do and I never really worked on perfecting these forms until I saw your videos. I frequent your content and it has helped improve my technique. Thank you. If someone is harshly critical of you they have to be jealous. Tang Soo!
Impresionanteeee!!!!Yo le pondría Música "Pim Pim Pum Faaaa!!
Very nicely done! Sharp with 100% of applications being clear and all the nuances being there. A really good example of how the kata should be done. Thanks for posting this!
@@practicalkatabunkai, no problem! Thank you. Really love this kata, my students do too.
Is this for beginners too
What could possibly go wrong?
Exercises that stabilize, the body supports reflexes and attention to your body. That’s the purpose of the dance, utilizing the breath.
This is a very good demonstration of form! Could you kindly give us an explanation of these movements in detail
You don't use an "offensive" hip when you step and punch in basic 1 and 2. Why is that? How do you get your power in the punches if you don't use your hip?
You are a good martial artist I whatch a lot of your videos but the way you do nahanchi or tekki what ever it's called you don't engage the harmony of the form example why you kicking the inners of your legs
Putting that work. What’s that inward leg snaps and the beginning? Low kick block, or to snap the back of the knee at close quarters? Cuz ain’t nobody gonna see that comin.
It doesn't make sense to me that Anko Itosu developed the Pinan katas just for the sake of athleticism. You can tell when katas are made for just for the sake of performing kata such as relatively newer katas like Fukygata Ichi because they start with a down block. There are a few other grappling techniques to you need to know before the practical application of Gedan Barai makes sense. But if you're teaching kata for the sake of performing kata, you start with down block because its technically easier to perform. Keeping this in mind, Pinan Shodan doesn't have a down block until the very end of the kata. This is evidence of a progression of grappling techniques to learn. If you look at the first few moves of Pinan Shodan (Heian Nidan), it looks like a grappling technique at close range, and you don't see this technique in other katas meaning that it was a technique that Anko Itosu came up with himself and it would have been the first thing he taught his students. That is evidence to me that the katas were not created simply for exercise. They seem to have a specific order of grappling techniques that Itosu would have wanted his students to learn. I don't have a source for this but I read somewhere that Anko Itosu developed the Pinan katas before he introduced them into the schools. I think that the Pinan katas are recordings of combative principles of grappling but the exact meanings were lost when they were introduce into schools because they didn't teach kids the practical applications. What are your thoughts on this?
You bring great credit to Tang Soo do. Mad respect for you Master
Do you your students know how lucky they are to have you? Outstanding work! Extremely relevant training
You are doing a great job! Well done Master. Your students are all up to speed for their ranks as well. Impressed as always!!!
As a Tang Soo Do practitioner, I have never seen this form before. Nevertheless, amazing application! Karate thought topic: Has anyone disapproved of your way of teaching? (Martial Arts with realistic application/sparring)
As a Muay Thai guy who looks to expand his knowledge, this is a gem, sir.❤❤
Very cool training method- great upload Master!
I wish we had one local, took it as a teenager and now I can’t find a gym anywhere
Wonderful kicking technique
cool drill
nice torque that’d smart
bye bye rib cage
I did tang soo do as a kid and i was taught to lick with the ball of your foot, not your shin, being your fist to the side for more power, and to always maintain front stance.
Poderoso!!!
Chega dar sono...
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
this is really good. exactly how Escrima, Karate, Wing Chun people should also be sparring!
Great training exercise
You need katana for that
Es tang soo do moderno, creo que en un enfoque de competición. Quisiera verte realizar las patadas de poder y sus variantes.
The school that inspire the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai series! I highly respect your open mind, which by no means is in conflict with tradition. In fact, always learning from others should be one of the more important traditions a school should have. I studied at Soo Bahk Do, and even though I don't regret being born there as a martial artist, I have to admit it has lagged behind Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do because of that obsesion with tradition, obsesion that doesn't allow for grow and progress, you know, that "our way is the best way" cultish attitude. I wish you the best and a happy new year.
Bro you his his check f u mean liver💀
Good stuff!
I was taught to point the heal of the support leg at the target (for a round, side, or swing kick) which you do in your video, but you don’t say anything about that. Keith Vitale, Joe Corley, and Bill Wallace all came to my studio in Tucker, Ga in the mid 1980s, and I feel blessed to have trained with all of them.
Great job on the lunch work Master!
That song in the back has a "time card's" vibes
I used to have a past with these kind of arts A past i'd love to forget, yet it's impossible But i'd like to do that so i could start over many things i did wrong in life Thanks for this video, may God bless you
Really nice, thanks for sharing. Would like to see the applications. I wonder if modern forms will sink into the martial arts community at some point. Would be nice to have something new that is practiced across a few different styles. I know Iain Abernethy's senipo has caught on a little bit but that's more of a historical look at Motobu's techniques than a general kata
Thanks! The applications are pretty straightforward. It’s just something I put together from techniques I use in clinch sparring regularly. I was really fortunate to learn Seinpo with Iain a few years ago at one of his residential courses. I agree that it would be good for modern forms to become more accepted in the art.
Hey Danny.......I like your approach AND mentality on how you train your Tang SOO DO, incorporating other of systems of Combat, Boxing , grappling and maybe a little Muay Thai, TO MAKE IT MORE EFFECTIVE for real street combat!......I am a long time Practitioner of the Martial Arts and worked out in the late 70's and early eighties with HAROLD GROSS , Chuck Norris's Chief Instructor. at Chuck's Sherman Oaks Ca TSD studio.......I worked out at one time or another with the 70's and 80's who's, who of Tang Soo Do ........I have always geared my training for real fights in the street, but none the less, I had a good time training in Tang Soo Do, but NEVER BOUGHT INTO ANY IDEA, THAT TANG SOO DO WAS VIABLE IN IN A NITTY GRITTY STREET FIGHT...........and that includes MOST styles OF 'TRADITIONAL KARATE........IF SOMEBODY WANTS A HOBBY OR A SPORT , THEN TANG SOO DO Is FOR THEM.......BUT, NOBODY SHOULD BE UNDER THE DELUSION THAT TRADITIONAL TANG SOO DO AND POINT/TAG karate IS FOR A REAL STREET COMBAT/FIGHT! .........But, THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS ........ some TANG SO DO PRACTITIONERS (VERY FEW), ARE ABLE TO MORPH THEIR TANG SOO DO for VIABLE STREET COMBAT EFFICACITY, BECAUSE OF WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF, ALONG WITH THEIR INSIGHT AND MENTALITY........... , The principal reason for lack of street efficacity with most Tang Soo Do is in the perpetuated archaic method of training...( Gichin Funakoshi is of many responsible for defanging and watering down karate's original concept and intent) ............KEEP UP YOUR QUEST FOR REAL RESULTS AND EFFICACY FOR STREET COMBAT IN YOUR TANG SOO DO/MARTIAL ARTS JOURNEY!
True Karate in his pure form
