BUS FIRE AT LUTON DEPOT ( MAIDSTONE & DISTRICT )
Not from Liverpool but went there a few times stood on the kop. Went to the Grafton Rooms, WestDerby Road,Palatine Sreet.
Great seeing Billy Smarts circus, forgot they dressed the elephants up - a big day out with my dad - fond memories. Cheers.
The entire tram system ran off just two diesel generators. Far cleaner than buses.
Go collect stamps
Sad ain't it.me late wife worked on a lot of them burnt out M&D buses.
Thanks Dave. Amazing video❤
Wow!
Am back
No litter, today almost everywhere look's like a Landfill site.
I've been watching a few of these 'old Liverpool' videos lately and that is exactly what came to my mind. I got the 19 bus out of the city centre recently and made a point of looking properly at the pavements and the shrubbery etc as we went by. To say that this city is a s***hole is an understatement!
Great photos of a more orderly time. I used to travel on the 61 bus service when I worked on the docks in the 1970s until I got a car. The bus terminus was at Seaforth and was the link for those who lived in the Fazakerly, Walton, Kirkby area, and Norris Green en-route to Aigburth. The old Atlantean bus's were far better than the bone shakers they have today. Most of the 70s and 80s bus stock were sold to Asia after the privatisation of public transport in the 80s. Some however were bought by ex drivers who set up their own companies and did extremely well

What a window into the post-war Liverpool, @ 2.28 is the top of Lord Street after the second world war bombing. Yet by the mid 1950s the left side from Paradise Street to South Castle street was completely rebuilt in a short time even before regeneration grants were heard of. What an achievement to the people who ran the city back then. I worked in the city centre mid 60s early 70s and recall South Castle Streets wide expanse leading to Canning Place. I often travelled on the old 92B @ 5.00 that used to terminus at the chapel street end of the Pier Head opposite the Liver Buildings. The last bus to Northwood was at 11.55pm. Back then everything seemed to run on time and journey times to the city outskirts a lot shorter than today. Liverpool in the 50s and 60s was a very special place.
2:56 & 3:12 "The Throstle's Nest" pub on Scottie Rd, Next to St Anthony's. Nan was born upstairs there in 1905, And at 3:34 the Tate & Lyle's bridges over Vauxhall Rd, My G Grandfather was killed in 1924 building the one closest to the camera. Great photos.
My nan lived in Kew Street, just past St Anthony's on the right, as you look at the picture.
people were spotless they had nothing but they were clean look at the ally ways wow some dirty human being now
Think the photograph of County Road at 1:37 has missed the actual date by about 80 years!
My Grandad lived in one of those houses in L4 , great to see them.
We all live in a bad shit hole.

Any Wavertree Road photos from 60's?
A bit of nostalgia is good for the soul in times like these. Thank you.

Seen a woman get hit by a bus reversing out at Mann Island years ago, I was on the top deck of another bus, always bloody happened that 😔
Thank you for these brilliant rare Liverpool images. Some of the best, reasonably hi-res clips I have ever seen. Eventually when we can time travel, I want to go back and just walk around in those amazing times and see that beautiful city and interact with those salt of this Earth people.....Just one more time.

The seven idiots who disliked this..I just want to ask them..What the hell is there to dislike😡 I’m not from Liverpool or even the UK..But as a fellow human I’ve got lots of respect for people and places from of a bygone era that are no longer with us.
RUclips no longer show the number of dislikes, thankfully. I hope that you still receive this notification. And I fully agree 👍
Reconised some places would have helped if thay where named

I was born in Boyton street...off Earl road.....1949...then me and me mum went to live with her big sister( me auntie Marie).....in Liffey Street ..off Lodge Lane...I was 4yrs old.......I've got some brilliant memories of "belly floppin'" across back entry walls (5yrs old!)....and playing in the "bombdies".....ahh...I loved living down there..Liverpool 8.....before I emigrated to Kirkby when I was 7yrs old.......to start another chapter of my life....
Point of fact: Lowestoft & Felixstowe were Royal Naval Air Service bases until 1 April 1918...
Can each picture be kept on the screen for a longer time? It is scarcely enough time to view it properly as it is. Nevertheless, very interesting.
Cynthia Cullin you can pause the video and view each picture to your hearts content as I did.
0.28 The Overhead Railway station at the bottom of Park Road. 0.37 the Dingle Bus Depot on Ullet Road, with the Gaumont Cinema in the background. 0.49 High Park Street 1.00 Windsor Street and High park Street. Note the fire alarm on the corner. Break the glass and pull the handle to call the fire brigade. 1.05 North Hill street and Park Road 1.33 Park Road and Warwick Street. Surprised I can't see Sussex Gardens, and I don't remember the wall on the right. St Patrick's church in the background on the right. 1.40 Again on Park Road. Sussex Gardens have been demolished, and modern housing can be seen. Pickwick street on the right. The bus is hiding where Miltons the jewellers used to be. Anglican cathedral and St John's tower visible. 1.45 Princess Road and Upper Warwick Street. Looking towards the town centre. 1.53 the Dingle Bus Depot again 2.00 Park Place, the Volunteer Arms pub on the right, St Patrick's Church on the left Sussex Gardens visible behind St Patrick's. 2.04 Stebble Street Baths. 2.09 Memories of Swimming lessons in Junior school, and Saturday mornings if the weather was nice. Boys changing rooms on one side of the pool, Girls on the other. 2.13 The junction of Ullet road and Smithdown road. I don't remember this being Liverpool 8, more like Liverpool 15 2.16 Junction of Upper Parliment Street and Princess Road 2.25 Milton's the jewellers, was on the corner of Park Road and Upper Warwick street. 2.44 Garage on corner of Windsor Street and Upper Warwick Street. Garage is still open as a garage. 2.52 top of Windsor street, leading into Admiral street. Shop on left corner is seen at 1.00 This all I can remember. I lived in the area from 1958 to 1974. Please correct me if my memory's are wrong.
0:37, tram sheds, before bus sheds, I actually past my bus license out of there in the 90s
