Hi Santosh, I have watched many of your inspiring videos, including this one. I went through a similar career journey and often look back and think about what I could have done better in the past (there will always be something more optimal that we could have done). I agree about your point about not getting comfortable and plateauing, but it is also important to sometimes look back and appreciate how far we have come from where we started and pat ourselves in the back. This journey in itself can and will be a motivating factor for achieving the next step. Keep up the good work and keep marching forward! Best wishes.

Nice to see video after a long time. I stuck very badly not able to come out from postdoc even after completing it four years. Recruiter deny the application in first state when they see the candidate on J1 Visa. No one is ready to sponser H1 Visa. Feeling dark future.

Thank you sharing for your story, Santosh ji, and moreover representing the story of, I believe, many. I have resonated with what you said at almost every word. Seeing you succeed in your transition inspires and motivates me to continue to strive for my own transition into industry. I'm currently in my 5th year of postdoc, having been trying to transition into industry unsuccessfully, yet continuing to, for few years now. One of the reasons I don't want to consider academia even as a second option, is I don't want to produce another PhD student, at least through me. I am not saying this in a negative mindset, but I truly believe, for most part of PhD population, both PhD and postdoc are wasteful and a trap. There are a majority of workforce who doesn't do PhD have move forward in career in many strides. And pursuing PhD is essentially distracting the intellect of people into less productive and very less rewarding career paths. If you don't mind sharing your opinion, do you share this mindset, and would you recommend someone to pursue PhD, in these current times?

Dear Dr Bharti, I watch your videos regularly. They are truly very informative and helpful for us PhD students. But there is one thing that I don't understand and that is whether it was your plan from the very beginning to get an academic position like assistant professor in the US or did you intend on coming back to India? In the first case, then it is very evident that getting an assistant professor position (tenure track) is very difficult in the US, especially for someone who has not done PhD in the US or Europe. Rather you could have immediately applied for assistant professor positions in India after 3 years of postdoc positions... I think it would be better if you could clarify this point because to us, the viewers, a natural question comes to the mind that why didn't you apply for academic positions in India and extended your postdoc!!!
