Shoot your bow, Like a PRO!
In this video I'm demonstrating the importance of proper nock fit on your bow string. A loose nock fit is almost as bad as having nock pinch from too tight of a fit, either on the center serve or from having your nock sets too close together.
The industry standard worries more about snugging the lower nock set up to the nock to keep it in place rather than the importance of the center serve diameter. The honest reason for this is because it takes more time to reserve a bowstring for a customer to fit their nocks than it does to tie in some nock sets (OR not even tie in nock sets and just tie a D-loop on 💀) and send...

I shoot 350 grain arrows with rage hypodermic broadheads. Setup is Cruzer g2 set at 60 lbs and 29 ". This season i shot a nice buck, quartered towards me. My arrow hit right shoulder and came out offside hip. Complete penetration at 60 yards. Everyone says i should go heavier? Dunno??
@@Voxguitarsrock If we were all shooting the exact same setup, it would make sense to listen to the masses, but since we all have our own bows set up specifically for us, makes sense to do what you know gives you the best success through experience and some simple math calculations 😁 You can lead a horse to water right? There is something called cleaning
@Emmitt-il7zp I clean animals, not arrows.

Do you use swept or full QAD broadheads?
@@elithegreat113 I have show both but I prefer the swept. I get a better blood trail with them and if you are shooting past 60y the swept fly better. You should check with your state laws however because the swept is considered a "barbed" Broadhead in a few states and outlawed. In Texas there's no problem.
@ yeah I live in Texas and use the swept QAD’s for aoudad and nilgai

Nice shop and setup. Really wish I would get my room that organized. I always take quick close up photos on my phone before I start so I have some good references if I get lost putting it back together. ❤

So the old question of which knot goes where. I see your loop knot on top is towards your face and the bottom one faces out. This is how I tied mine for yrs. But the RUclips experts have said this is incorrect. I feel the loop twist easier this way when my hand is at an angle along my face. Do you think it matters either way
I have done testing to see if it makes a difference in either POI or group sizing and the short answer is no, not at all. I shot at 50y, all arrows stacked in the same hole, then removed my dloop and tied a new one on in the opposite direction. All arrows stacked in the same hole at 50y again. The important thing is that your knots face opposite directions, not which knot goes on top.
@ cool. I wish all my arrows stacked at 50. The reason I asked is because the RUclips guy that wears shirts 3 sizes too small said it had to be top not facing out. I think my loop stays twisted the right way more so when the knot on top faces me. But either way I probably don’t shoot good enough to notice.
@@James-y1u8u I think we all fall victim to worrying about tiny details instead of the big picture. If dloop direction mattered, then it would be different depending on which direction the strings you are shooting are twisted, and also left and handed people. So maybe only left handed people should shoot a right hand twist and have their dloop tied the opposite direction? Let's not go down that rabbit hole of thought and spend more time working on ourselves. The last short video I posted is a tongue-in-cheek video to say people will shoot better if they practice more and worry about their equipment less. The most important thing is for you to focus on your sight picture I believe. Work to make the bow hold the best and keep your circle in circle of peep and scope housing lined up. Consistency and repeatability will transfer to accuracy 🙂
@ shoot more is good advice. Make your bow aim better is even better advice. I watch a bunch of Paige Pierce vids. She explains things real well. I just found your channel. Like the content of the nock fit. I like the guy in Australia too. He always is saying stop messing with your equipment just shoot. Thanks for the response.
@@James-y1u8u thank you for enjoying the channel! I plan on adding a lot more long form videos with tips for different experience levels. I only started making videos a couple months ago. Paige is a great one to follow. She is one of the few women in archery that actually do all their own work on their equipment. I really enjoy talking and shooting with her.

I just put a new set on today and my normal nock is too loose. Gonna try a different nock or reserve with power grip tomorrow. Def not gonna leave it goose loose for sho! Great vid! Thanks!
@@WayneStevenson-y6e It's amazing how something so small can make a huge difference in accuracy, but hey, that's archery! If you check the nock manufacturer's website they will often list the recommended finished serving diameter parameters for suggested nock fit. Take your calipers and measure your center serve to compare. For example the nocks I'm using, AAE IP-4 say "*Recommended serving size: .108-.112″ When measured, I end up on the high side of that for reference, but I go by feel like I showed in the video.
You need a larger draw length. Your arm should be completely straight
Dont have this problem with 30 30
How does this apply to three under?
My advice in this video is focusing on compound archery. For recurve and traditional archery, I would reference the manufacturer's recommended serving diameter parament for their nocks and use calipers to measure. Just like too loose a nock fit will cause erratic groups, too tight a nock fit will as well. I don't stand by the thought pattern of an arrow should fall off the string when the string is "plucked" however. The biggest point to consider is that nock fit will not be consistent across bow brands or string brands because a lot of them use different material or strand count. Trial and error is often the best way to figure something out, but knowing what to look for is half the battle.
DL is hella short. But working with it. Your form would be 100% better on a bow that fit
Time for a bigger bow!
What’s the weight?
@@JohnnyBarta 27#
@ I’m 14 and I’m pulling 65 is that good
@@JohnnyBarta I believe your question is honest, but this is a silly video. So here's my honest answer. In this video I'm actually tuning my 10 year old daughters bow which is 27#. I'm a professional archer and I shoot 60# in tournament and 50-54# for hunting. What draw weight is appropriate for you is determined by your physical stature and how much your practice. Very different for men and women, and for people of different ages. If you are comfortable, not shakey, and not sore the next day after shooting 50 quality shots in a practice session, then it sounds like your draw weight is fine. For most 14 year olds 65# is going to be way too much poundage. Being able to pull back a poundage a few times vs being able to practice making shots accurately without shaking and getting tired is very different. If you are hunting whitetail deer within 30 yards, anything above 40 pounds will get you there. My kids are 9 and 10 and my son shot his first hog at 8 years old with a 23 pound bow, dropped it dead. Shot placement and accuracy is way more important than poundage. Check out my videos here if you want to see his first hunt
what peep is that
@@GrowinwithAJ Hamskea Insight peep. I hunt with an A+ clarifier to clear up my sight picture so I don't have to wear glasses.

@@cheryl233 thank you! I used to have them in boxes and it was always hard to find the color I was looking for, or take category of what I had. I really like having the tubes of paint clipped to the wall like this
Thanks for the video. Even the quieter makes some noise. For me it would be imposible to hunt with your red one. And I think I would loose half of the wild boars before shooting with the black one. I'm loocking for a new release searching some information. Thanks, Sarah.
@@juanantonioespinosa8816 thanks for the comment! It depends on how far your shot is, how fast the arrow flight is, how skittish the animals are as well. It's always nice to be as quiet as possible. Usually the bow (or arrow flight) are louder than the release. The quietest release sold by Carter is the Whisper 2. It is even quieter than the revelation in the video here, you might check it out! Good luck to you!
