@@lrlapua8035 thx seems almost everyone has had bad results with the 62 gr ELD vt Hornady ammo from what I’ve read from comments and other videos about the 22ARC I pulled a bullet from 1 cartridge of 62gr and 1 88gr they both use the same powder which I believe is Leverevolution and with a 26gr difference in bullet weight the 62gr only had 3/10th’s of a gr more powder in it which should be disproportionate which would seem to explain the accuracy problem and weak ejection I was getting to the 4:30-5:00 o’clock

I too just bought a Ruger American Predator chambered in 22 ARC. First thing I did was clean the barrel thoroughly, took apart the rifle a retorqued the action screws. Bought a box of 75gr and 88gr factory ELD Match. First 20 shots were with the 75gr. 18 shot group measured 1.2" with mean radius of .36". I used the first two shot to zero my scope. Next box of 88gr ELD Match hammers out of my Predator. 20 round group measured .77" (sub MOA) with a mean radius of .26". My Ruger Hammers. 100 yard indoor rifle range. So no wind. Perfect conditions.

@@eee2115 The groups definitely prove that they are going to refund to be fair about it I have 3 other builds with Ballistic Advantage barrels and they shoot sub moa with my hand loads and good factory ammo I just maybe got the a lemon out the bunch I don’t plan on proceeding any further with the 22ARC Cartridge and might just try out 338 ARC in a AR pistol build instead thanks for your comment

@@Operatorofstealth I'm buying a barrel from white oak barrels. Not a big factory outfit putting out millions of barrels. Very high quality at a reasonable price. If you are looking for a blaster and not concerned about precision any barrel will do. I would also consider blackstonearms as a high quality, reasonable priced barrels. Of course, there is Kreiger, Barteline, Proof, but who has $800 for a AR barrel. I consider the price extreme and would only pair that with a custom bolt action.

@@kalcolt744 Thanks to @BallisticAdvantage they are replacing the barrel I have 3 other Ballistic Advantage barrels and all shoot great awesome sub moa out to each caliber’s ballistics limitations at distance and as part of several rifle builds using their barrels function 100% reliably so maybe I just got a lemon out the bunch but I will not pursue anything more regarding this particular barrel. I have built a dozen personal rifles 3 using BA barrels 6.5 CM, 308win and 6ARC all 12 function 100% and all shoot sub moa with my loads and good factory ammo I am no expert and always learning more but am familiar with cyclic rate, dwell time, harmonics, and things related to gas systems (buffers, springs etc.) but I have had issues with this barrel from the very first round fired through this thing and have put $300 of Hornady ammo with no improvement whatsoever so I will not put any more time or money into it. I will repost if things improve with new barrel I truly appreciate your input thanks

@kalcolt744 Roger that .. I'm a coyote hunter So I do cherish accuracy, and i'm a machinist, I do my best But I just can't set there and waste ammo on targets banging steel I like to make eat shot count and take care of predators

@@Operatorofstealth thx appreciate your input but those were the 88gr ELD Hornady factory ammunition I was shooting neither the 62 ELD vt nor the 88eld factory ammo have shot well I seen a lot of comments here on RUclips and forums all saying the 62gr ELD vt have not shot well for them but as it is right now I haven’t bought any dies for 22 arc so I am not going to sink any more time and money into this cartridge I have put together 12 builds in LR-308 platforms and AR-15 platforms all shoot sub moa 3 of the builds use Ballistic Advantage barrels which all shoot sub moa as well so I am just going to call it with this 22ARC I have a ballistic advantage barrel 6 arc build that shoots great never had any problems since day one the 22 arc brass I have accumulated 179 cases I will resize to 6 ARC but my days with 22 ARC are done thx again

@bnicedanicest6288 i can totally appreciate that My six arc grouped inside a half inch right out of the gate And continue to do so with every load variation, I made Once I went to my little twenty two arc, I have been fighting to get groups that I am impressed with It's possible but i'm kind of surprised.I expected that to be a tack driver It really makes me work for it

@@lrlapua8035 I Have AB Warthogs that literally help improve consistency They are made with such precision that the gas expansion is repeatable and never erratic.. You can tune your load to your barrel not the other way around ... That is a fact ...been like that for 130 years nothing changes..

@@altruisticscoundrel always a possibility but in this case Ballistic Advantage guarantees sub moa accuracy with out having to use any such aftermarket devices to get their barrel to shoot good I have 3 other BA barrels that shoot well in 6.5 Creedmoor, 308win, 6mm Arc all do have muzzle brakes/compensators and I am very aware of how much tension that could effect the barrel harmonics by the amount of tension that could be caused by tightening a muzzle device to the crown area so I tighten very minimally just enough so the device does not loosen just a little bit more than hand tightening so yes I have considered that could be causing a problem but am pretty confident now that the only issue left is the barrel itself I feel I should not have to put any more money or time trying to get my lemon 22 arc barrel to shoot. basically I feel I wasted 160 rounds 240$ plus still have 3 boxes left plus the price of the barrel = $600 total messing with this barrel and I am just going to try to get a refund and call it done with my venture into 22Arc thx appreciate your input

this is way to much to be helped by tuners. I would think there is something else wrong with the system, i would check the chamber lead/throat and that everything is properly tightened down. Was this a bolt action i would check the action screws and barrel/stock interface and mounts for the optics.

@@jaredwaterworth5283 I would not recommend the Amend 2 mag I bought the same magazine 100% destroys every piece of 22ARC and 6 ARC ammunition I have tried to run through it complete garbage for 6arc and 22ARC imo also you might not be getting the amount of gas either because your gas port is too small or being obstructed by maybe a sliver of metal from the drilling of the gas port or possibly the gas port on the barrel might not be aligning with the gas port on the gas block maybe take your gas block off push a cleaning rod or insulated electrical wire into your barrel past the gas port take a drill bit small enough to fit into the gas port and try to push/smooth any material that maybe? obstructing the hole out by hand twisting up and down motions the wire or cleaning rod should be narrow enough to allow enough movement of drill bit to do its job and the wire or rod protect the interior of barrel from damage so drill can’t bottom out and damage the barrel good luck.

@ I got a 5rnd ar stoner and a 10rnd ar stoner the ar stoner mags are really ASC 6.5 Grendel magazines which should be alright, 220 Russian is the parent case of 7.62x39 which are the parent cases of 6.5 Grendel 6arc and 22ARC which is just a necked down 6arc like I was saying for me the the amend2 mags did not work for me in either 6arc or 22ARC and ruined a couple of rnds in my 6arc which runs perfectly fine w/ 87gr-108gr bullets the 62gr ELD VT fed ok in my 22ARC but weak ejection to my 4:30-5 o’clock also the accuracy was terrible I pulled a bullet and weighed the powder charge in the 62eldvt it weighed only 3/10ths of a grain more than the 88eld powder charge weighed which explains why the weaker ejection using the same powder for a 26gr difference in bullet weight, I’m only having feeding issues with the 88gr ELDs in my 22ARC

@@submoa6977 thanks I don’t think it’s short stroking because it’s getting last round lock back reliably I also have the exact same thing happening with my .224 Valkyrie and the 88gr ELDs specifically I also got 2 new magazines specifically for 6ARC/22ARC and it still happened with those caliber specific mags too I maybe it’s because the ogive of the 88gr ELD more forward and shape of the bullet causes it to ramp up more prematurely and the tips strike the top of the area just before entering into the chamber I have not done any reloading for it as I have not even bought any dies for it it being an AR I would want RCBS small base resizing die but I don’t think RCBS has made any yet for 22ARC

@@submoa6977 a mil spec rifle buffer should be good my cases are ejecting what should be perfectly to the 3 o’clock I don’t have that problem with the 62gr ELD VT Hornady ammo even though the Hornady factory 88gr ELD Match ammo and the 62gr ELD VT are both the same COAL 2.250 the ogives are way off each other which may cause the 88’s to not feed properly idk I took it out the other day and finished a partial box of 88 ELDs no problems but I only ran about half a box hopefully maybe running some more rounds through it will maybe smooth out the feed ramps idk I still got 40 rounds of 88gr ELD Match Ammo and 40 rounds of 62 gr ELD VT I’ll probably clean the rifle tomorrow and run a box of 88’s through and see how it acts

I appreciate the suggestion but I try to keep it simple I load for 6 calibers using Shooters World Match Rifle powder 40gr-77gr bullets in my 5.56 loads in my ARs 87gr-108gr bullets in my 6ARC 224 valkyrie, 243 winchester, 22arc, .308 winchester I use SW Long Rifle in 6.5 CM 6CM 224 valkyrie 243 winchester I use CFE223 and Varget H4350 too and H4198 IMR 4198 for my 45-70 govt thx happy holidays

@@Operatorofstealth thx, Blackhole Weaponry made the barrel its a 1:9 24” inch their twist rate is different because they use polygonal rifling (3 land caudel) I made the load in the summer time 90’s so I bet if I loaded up another 1/10th or 2/10th’s more of a grain I could tighten the groups temperature is in the 20’s - 30’s during the day now and powder was cold mine is an AR build so I can’t load up as hot as a bolt rifle I’ve seen bags of Winchester .22-250 rem brass at a couple places but I have just have a few hundred + pieces of Hornady brass and more Hornady ammo on standby

@@bnicedanicest6288 I have a 22-250 (Savage bolt gun) and was looking for brass/ ammo a few weeks ago, and I found some Hornady Superformance 50gn V-Max loads (from Midway? I think) fairly cheap.. about the same price as empty brass! My rifle has a 1:12 twist so I have been sticking with lighter bullets.. I'm hoping it will stabilize 70gn, but??

@ good luck I don’t know what twist ratios work the best with what bullet weights in the .22-250rem but I do know the Blackhole Weaponry uses polygonal 3 land/groove barreling so the twist rate is different than traditional rifling I put this rifle together as varmint rifle for high velocity 50 gr bullets I have tried loading 62gr bullets with Superformance powder but am still working on it might need to try a different powder I do think you might need a faster twist like 1:10 or 1:9 for the heavier bullets for a barrel with traditional rifling here is an article that might help in your endeavors good luck in your quest. www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/22-250/

@@woodman8261 yes although my experience in loading the 45-70 is limited so far I noticed H4198 has complete ignition or powder burn in the rounds I have loaded so far, meaning I bought 1 box of Federal Premium 300 gr Hammerdown factory ammunition and immediately noticed after firing some of the ammo when cleaning the rifle there were kernels of unburnt powder in the action, finding the H4198 and IMR 4198 powders have been hard to find in my area Sportsman’s WH only had 1lb H4198 and my local ffl only had 1lb IMR 4198 other stores had neither and even online like Midsouth SS were even out of stock of both

@@lurebenson7722 this is obviously assumptive hateration stupidity who said anything I was going to try to use this for hunting at long range I can hunt elk 12 miles away from where I live thick cedars where I will never get a shot beyond 50 yds this is the perfect rifle for that I just want to make sure my ammo is going to be as accurate as it can be obviously you lack stalking skills you need some long range crap to take game you can’t get close to I got mtn lion less than 20 yds antelope deer coyotes bobcat fox 5 yds - 76 yds I have never in my life needed any long range crap to make up for my lack of anything else I got all the long range toys and the space to shoot long range everyday if I wanted to I don’t got to anyone else’s range but mine don’t assume but I appreciate your comment regardless it says a lot about your lack of knowing, stalking and fair chase of game I am no expert at anything but have been hunting since a kid rabbits dove quail - big game and ranch livestock so I am constantly hunting predators at least a few times a week so much so I don’t really like anymore it is of no challenge. @@Operatorofstealth thx, the target isn’t level, but no I do need to install my level I leveled the rifle first before mounting and leveling the scope but I really don’t really encounter any signs of unlevelness unless I’m holding over with a Christmas tree type reticle at farther distances

@@Operatorofstealth thx for your input I appreciate it, yeah that amend2 mag is a 6.5 Grendel mag supposed to be good for 6arc or 22arc as said in the description on Primary Arms why I ordered it but never worked in my 6arc either the other mag is a ASC 6.8 SPCII mag that has run flawlessly in my 6ARC build everything from 87gr - 108ELDs and so far it runs the 62gr eld-vt flawlessly just seem to have problems running the 88gr ELDs in both 22ARC and 224 Valkyrie both my ARC barrels are ballistic advantage and my .224 Valkyrie is a Blackhole weaponry which when it feeds without the tips breaking off shoots very accurately I switched to 22ARC thinking I wouldn’t have the same problem as the 224 Valkyrie do with the 88’s both velocities 22ARC vs. 224 Valkyrie are about the same with the 62 grain bullets thx

I found it easier with the larger aperture to zero at 50yds on 300yd setting confirm at 200yds then go to 300 yds with the smaller aperture if you need to tweak it for your load then fine tune it then set and forget it to be honest I was slower at getting on target with the carry handle and BUIS sights so I put on a Primary Arms MD-25 red dot sight w/ American Defense QD 1/3 lower cowitness mount with MBUS Gen 3 fde I like that MD-25 thx for the compliment safe shooting

They were reloads of Federal brass, 62 grain Hornady boat tail soft points, cci no41 primers and shooters world match rifle powder I don’t know the velocity not enough barrel sticking out to attach my magneto speed also I have a 200 yd zero I think Hornady makes Frontier ammo with that particular bullet their 62 grain bthp is good too they sell the bullets and ammo on Midsouth Shooters Supply hope that helps

Thankfully I still can it gets harder to see when the grass grows tall and turns yellow the yellow targets match the grass I was shooting a 66% steel target at 635yds at dusk with my Ruger AR556 and Vortex Viper 1-4x once the sun dropped below the horizon I could barely make out the target anymore I hope some kind of legality prevents the pistol brace rule from going into effect I like shooting the 10.5” if not I am going to have to remove the barrel from the upper and put a 14.5” 6mm ARC barrel and pin and weld a a 2” compensator a VG6 6.5 Epsilon to be exact to make it legal thx for watching
