Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (and one Last Crusade) Fedora Review!
One thing I'd like to mention, re: your comments on how the ToD hat went through a lot during filming - there would have been several hats made for both Ford and for use in Stunts. It wouldn't have been the same hat throughout and Ford and his stunt doubles wouldn't have shared a hat. This is one of the major reasons why the hats look different throughout the films.
Yes there were about a dozen hats made. But they all went through hell due to the sheer amount of stunts in this film. But all the Sri Lanka stuff was done first and that's why the hats look the best there. The hats where Ford is wearing them in the mine scenes were filmed way toward the end.
@@MickeyLeeBukowski cool, I'm glad you get it - I often see people talk about these sorts of things like there was only ever one made 😆
This is literally the best fedora.
Agreed!
Indy didn’t care about damaging his whip, it was a companion tool which he would replace when required
Hahah yeah and he had about 15 in reserve from the prop department if one got destroyed. Most of us aren't that lucky or well-heeled.
If i could afford these hats. I'd buy 4,lol. One for fancy dress occasions, one for general wear around town or public events and two ...for when I'm hiking trails or rough housing in general, lol.
Oh man, I'd have to take out a second mortgage!
Hahahaha😂😂😂
Another vote for Screen Capped hats. Brian is a true artist. For the price, it can't be beat. I don't personally own hats from other makers, however, I am sure they are great, but I can't imagine they could be any nicer or better quality than Screen capped.
And he just keeps getting better and better too!
Reload the auto-safe 😂
LOL good idea!
Ryan Reynolds in Fallout?
😅😅😅
Is the pew pew worth the time collecting star caps? cause I think it is
If you're doing an energy weapons build hell yeah
I remember the first time I was going to let him go but then I kept talking to him and then he got more suspicious of me so that I killed him out of anger of his suspicions
And he's got like 7 blue star caps so it's all good!
"You been doing what now?" Don't follow me homey.
First rule of the wasteland!
I have a David Morgan 8 foot whip, same style as Raiders. When I was learning to use it I caught myself across the back and shoulder and actually cut the skin over my shoulder. 🤠
Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark.
He has jumpscared me more than once and I kill him every time
Always in the weirdest places too
N'wah does much... much better fallout skits. I feel like I just watching a HS film project.
He does original stuff. We are recreating scenes from the game using the in-game dialogue. But thanks for the comment. Engagement is engagement.
I had to laugh within the first couple of minutes because my first whip was also from Todd's Costumes, and my training also came from Adam Winrich's videos! Loved the video and the title really got my attention too!
I bet a lot of us have similar stories lol
Should do a vid where you try buy an implant
Hey that's a good idea!
Great video! It is too bad that the use of the whip kind of fades throughout the movies. If only someone like Anthony De Longis had worked on the original films, Indy could have been quite the whip cracking machine haha! That Trinity whip is absolutely beautiful!! Really love the color. As for which way to align the natural curl of the whip, my understanding is that holding it with the curl facing forward (away from your hand and body) creates a louder crack, but takes a lot of arm and shoulder movement. Aligning the opposite way so it rolls out creates a more precise and effortless crack, but it is not quite as loud. So I guess it comes down to what you want to do with the whip haha! Thanks for the awesome content!
Thanks for the comment! I think the whip conceptually works better in a more fantastical setting (like for instance, "Zorro", which is where Lucas got the idea for it). In the more grounded world of Indy, there's only so much you can do with it before it gets a little campy. But cracking them sure is fun! And thanks for the insight on the two methods of cracking -- my experience definitely lined up with what you said!
Soooo good!
Yesssssss!
Can you cure my radiation?
That was Part 2 :)
wat?
Don't worry. Physically you're fine!
@@MickeyLeeBukowski I don't understand the shot doesn't make sense.
This is just a recreation of a dialogue exchange from New Vegas. It's what happens when you ask for healing when at full health
I love fallout and just the way y’all speak capture the charm of it well lol good job!
Thank you!
This needs more attention!
I agree!
I just need to cure my mentat addiction
Hey, pipe down. We can't talk about that here, out in the open
Just ask Rex or ed-e they’re all the emotional help a courier needs
Unless you're wearing a hat!
funny!
hahahahahahah
😅😅😅
I love it!
Thanks :)
Y'all are funny!
😂😂😂
I love it!
Thank you 😊
Best doctor in the game!
I've owned a number of Indiana Jones hats over the years and worked on dozens more. It never fails to amaze me how a little genuine weathering will shrink up the crown on different types of felt. I wore a Todd's in Central America for about 3 months and by the time I got back I had to turn it into a low crown Derby style because no amount of steaming and stretching could bring back the height. Beaver hats hold up the best of course but it's interesting to see that even yours tapered. Probably explains why they needed a new batch for every movie.
Absolutely! Hate to think what may have happened if I took out one of my rabbit felt hats that day!
Great Video!
Thank you very much!
Where do i get a vault suit as amazing as that one?
Miccostumes! Then you buy some cheap bottles of acrylic paint from your local hobby store and weather it up!
I wonder if the Assaultron, ADA, was named after Dr. Strauss.
That would be amazing but given the lack of New Vegas references in Fallout 4, I doubt it!
I've been watching quite a few of your videos lately, and have enjoyed most of them, but I just can't get behind this one. You admitted that the cattleman's crack is the only one that you know, but if you don't know what you're doing, then you shouldn't be doing instructional videos. All newbies jerk the whip like you are doing in this video, that's a pretty normal thing, but now everyone who watches this is going to mimic your bad habits. Form good habits, and then pass what you have learned on to your viewers. Usually on social media, I get a lot of hate for offering constructive criticism, but as a fellow Indy fan, please understand that this is coming from a guy who wants to help you improve. I started learning to crack whips by watching RUclips videos, and Adam Winrich's instructional DVD. It was very hard, and I struggled mightily as a newbie. Once I figured out what I was doing, I decided to come out with my own whip tutorial series to help other newbies avoid my pitfalls, which is the most in-depth instructional series for beginners that you will find. It is on my channel, under Indiana Jones material. It will help you TREMENDOUSLY if you start with Lesson 1, which most people just want to skip. Once you have a couple of cracks down, and have formed good habits, then re-release this video with what you have learned. I really want to support my fellow Indy enthusiasts out there, and you will have my support no matter how you respond to this, and I'll continue to watch your material. But every newbie who watches this video is going to go through the same struggles that I had to go through. Let's work together to break that cycle.
I like the 10mm pistol prop, any pointers on blueprints or sources?
I printed that. Found the STL on Thingiverse. I think it was this one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:2688826
@@MickeyLeeBukowski Thank you!
When I bought my first whip from Lee Keppler, I also bought a VHS tape called The Art Of The Bullwhip. The video stated that before you start learning to crack, you should go buy a motorcycle helmet, leather jacket and leather chaps. I didn't and all I can say is that the pain was exquisite! I learned quickly what not to do. I have since gotten better at cracking. I've had several David Morgan whips (6' 8' & 10') which I sold on eBay years ago. I bought a 10' from Wall drug in South Dakota that's pretty nice. I have a custom made 9' whip from Paul Nolan at Midwest Whips as well as a 4' one from a seller on Etsy. Good video!
LOL. That's great advice! Though the Indy gear holds up pretty well under self-inflicted whip wounds!
Nice video! I bought a Todd’s 8 footer a few years ago, and now have a custom made 9 footer, LC style from Mario at MJG whips. The Todd’s is a great practice whip to see if you like it before committing to a more expensive whip. Whip cracking is definitely an art, and a lot of fun once you become familiar with it! 😃
I agree! Glad I got the Todd's first
I went to every single channel of Indiana Jones cosplayer to see to learn how to crack a bullwhip. Now I am trying to do tricks with my whip, I also went straight to 8ft and then 10ft.
There are definitely a lot of great Indy cosplayers out there to learn from. Thanks for stopping by!
“Aww man I’m so stupid, I should have never have trusted a doctor that smelled like that”
:D
Bro! As always, S Tier Indy content! Entertaining, informative… just truly excellent!
Thank you, my dude! Meant to name a few other Indy whip guys but my brain was melting under the 100 degree sun lol. Makes you wonder how HF did it when filming Raiders
@@MickeyLeeBukowski lol, he was also sick so that would make it worse in Cairo
Well done
Thank you! There's two other parts floating around out there
Great cosplay, lol it’s what I would expect if the games was irl lol
Awesome! That's what we were going for :)
Awesome skit also great cosplay
Thank you!
Haha very well done. Always loved that last line
Thank you! Everything with her is comedy gold
Love the episode! Very comprehensive, informative and entertaining. The rundown at the end is great! Gotta say, I’ve always thought that you nail the professor/adventurer look. Indy suits you to a “T”. I’m surprised that I haven’t made my wife mad, yet😂
Many thanks! It's pretty sobering when you see it all listed out at once lol
nice
Thanks!
I read somewhere (long before indygear came around but i can't recall exactly where) , that there were several hats made/used during filming by Harrison and the stunt doubles /stand ins during all the original 3 movies.
Yup that is absolutely true -- usually about a dozen per film. But they were all made the same style for each film. There are 5 Indy movies and the hat for each one is distinct.
This a dam fallout 3 dialouge. My brain!
No it's definitely New Vegas! Ada Strauss is the doctor in Novac where the dinosaur is
