- In October of 2023, my wife and I travelled to London and Paris for her birthday. I asked her if we could make one stop for me.... a trip to the Swaine Flagship store so I could order a Herbert Johnson Temple Poet in person! This video documents the whole 11 weeks from order to reception!

I’m a retired Grenadier Guards colonel. My No.1 cap was from Herbert Johnson, a lifetime cap.
I’ve another from Gieves and Hawkes, bloody made in Pakistan ! Still 400 pounds!
6 months is typical! I was shocked to get this in less than 3. And such a great hat too!
TOD is my favorite movie. I ordered one of these in February 2023 and my arrived around the end of June. I just sent my Raiders Poet back for cleaning and re-blocking in the Cairo style. I also just ordered the Last Crusade and Dial Of Destiny hats to round out my collection. Congrats on your purchase!

I plan on making a video featuring all 3 of my TOD hats soon! I don't have the S&J one any longer though -- it was just too small for my head so it now has a new home (with a person who doesn't have a giant cranium like me lol)

From what I've been reading, HJ has really stepped up their Indy game in the last few years. I'm glad I've gotten to benefit from that.

If i could afford these hats. I'd buy 4,lol. One for fancy dress occasions, one for general wear around town or public events and two ...for when I'm hiking trails or rough housing in general,lol.

I got the herbert johnson cairo poet and it was worth every penny.
I can only imagine! They do a great job with all the hats from the films.
Can I ask what you think of the color? The stock ToD Poet comes in regular sable, while the others mostly come in deep sable. I’m torn between which to get. The deep sable reads a little red, to me. Just wondering what you think about yours.
I'm happy with it. It's not too far off from my Screencapped. And honestly, of all the hats HJ puts out, the TOD (and Destiny of course) is probably your safest bet for accuracy, since Michelle got to observe one in person when she was working on the hats for "Destiny".
My experience with it in different lighting conditions is that it looks similar to the felt from the film.

I've always wanted a Raiders Fedora so I bought a cheap wool felt imposter then shaped it like Raiders w/ a turn to see if I would enjoy wearing a hat out. I love it and get compliments daily! I dont leave home without it! I'm ready to pull the big, expensive trigger on an HJ Raiders w/ a turn. May I ask what the final cost to my home in Florida will be in US dollars? The site only shows pounds.

Awesome, I'm glad to hear this video helped you decide! The conversion rate changes daily, as you know, but it's probably going to be around $550 all told. Which I know, it's a lot! But if you're going to get one hat... this seems like the way to go!

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but Herbert johnson don't make hats and don't have a factory, there just a hat shop that byes there hats from other makers such as Chrisys where's your hat probably came from originally as Christy's is one of the oldest hat shops that still makes there own hats in London , so basically you vastly overpaid for a hat just for a label that Herbert johnson puts in the hats.
They literally say as much on their blog, so this isn't a revelation. But thanks for your comment.
@@MickeyLeeBukowski I've a few Fedoras made by Christy's and just had a new Adventure poet made for me by them, I find it quite bizarre that they only charge £200 yet Herbert johnson have the cheek to charge £480 for the self same hat, what's more crazy is people are gullible enough to pay it ..
Your information is very out of date. There was a period when HJ outsourced their manufacturing but quite a few years ago they rebooted their operations and began making their own hats by hand. You cannot buy a factory made poet from HJ, only traditionally made works of art.

Dude. I know the master hatter at Herbert Johnson personally, we talk all the time, we hang out, I have visited her at her workshop. She makes hats all day long. I'm afraid that you're just plain wrong today my friend.
