I have to admit, having access to a whole world of potential players who are even remotely interested in the most esoteric RPGs outweighs even a few bonuses in the “pro-in-person” category. My problem is navigating through Discord, a message board so up its own digital butt regarding the user interface, I can’t tell what’s going on. My other problem is the lack of audiovisual contraptions to be even slightly presentable, but I’m working on that. There should be a Starter Set for online play, complete with tools and advice on how to successfully manage an online session. Hey Kickstarter, ya listening?

While it has utility, it doesn't matter how good a hat looks on you once you add a chinstrap to it. No one except maybe Victorian era women can make hats with chinstraps look good

My second worst dnd horror story was an invite i got on a dnd discord to join a campaign that was close to it's start i finally after 3 years of trying found a group to run with i was good to go set up everything they even helped me make my d20 account and for the first time got past what I'd say was the introduction phase then 37 minutes in a new guy joined says in text chat "I'M HERE" i was immediately kicked i tried to rejoin twice then dm'd the DM and was told "we just needed a 6th because we thought guy wouldn't be able to join this campaign thanks for your understanding XD" I was never told this i was TOLD I'd be TAUGHT HOW TO PLAY I haven't logged into any discord in 3 years IRL & Online never worked for me 7 years and still barely understand how feats work because i learn best the hard way and by having to do it with an example to compare by like a dark souls teaching style I tried self taught it never works

You're answer to the question about another west march - "make it easier for other people to help me." was a really good answer. I think that building a system that resilient to you getting tired and taking a break is a lot easier when there are other people around to support you.

Yeah, I've been running in person games consistently weekly for a year now but it's been at a bar. Which is fun, but as you might tell even in the private rooms that we use it's still very loud, especially when we have to share that room with another group Before that, I was exclusively running games online and I've literally had players fall asleep mid-session so I decided that the campaign that I'm running next and any other campaign will all be exclusively in person for full engagement
