What about disgust based social contamination. As I have fear disgust in social situations and ERP doesn’t work it makes it worse. Exposures make disgust worse
Super helpful, man. Goddamn. Really appreciate the good doctor and this interview overall.
I cried for 20 minutes
At first it’s scary and then you learn and grow.
It goes into the direction of Greenberg’s approach, no? But with Greenberg it’s easy to not ruminate and then think about the “core fear”…
They would both say it’s different. Greenberg has a protocol for rumination focused erp and Wilson goes a more metacognitive route
@@OCDWhisperer Thanks for pointing it out. It feels similar, though.. 😅
ERP doesn’t work for everyone because people aren’t willing to practice it properly or because not all clinicians know how to prescribe it well.
Help from India.

It's so awful I always have doubts about my gender. I curently can't tell what is my gender anymore. I transitioned and stop my transition multiple times cause I was starting to feel uncomfortable in my body. When I go back to being a man I feel comfortable until the doubt comes back. And then I try transitioning so the doubt goes away. Finally I detransition because I feel really disconnected from my body compared to before. It's a never ending loop of suffering...
I’m so sorry for the challenges you are facing. And truly hope you have good support around you.
I have real event OCD…it sucks
Totally… I also dealt w that.
I found that the following cycle is often seen in OCD: first a certain imagined catastrophic outcome (example jail) will be there and around that now a whole story will be crafted and now the person categorizes all those dangerous activities that could lead to the worst possible ourcome (jail) and from there the compulsions and distrust in the own senses just fuel the whole cycle.
Yes OCD reasoning is wild
I wonder if when people with OCD have issues trusting themselves and thus having obsessive thoughts about things that in reality didn‘t happen (eventho they fully know that its unrealistic and probably just a fear), could the opposite happen also? Like for example with hit and run ocd, could one have ran over someone and then „reason“ it away? Maybe in order to not do the compulsion of checking?
Nope what is it
Hey, noticed you don’t have any videos about Schizophrenia-OCD. Would love to see a video on this.
Thank you both. This was enlightening and beneficial. Cheers.
When you say you did things what exactly did you do please
Thank you God, 🙏🏼 Thank you ma'am, God blessed you...🙌🏻✝️❤️🎁
I am getting superstitious obsessions that someone did black magic on me and I am just hallucinating everything and even this video 😂😂 but yeah trying my best to not pay attention to this
But i wish it was that easy
The work is not too complicated, but does not mean it is easy.
Ive had this from 2013 onwards its quite severe but i can go out if my mother is with me, but def want full back to my independent state !!!
This is brilliant. I’ve been doing erp with a therapist for 8 months. I’d say it’s gotten me 75% better. I’m beginning to believe Icbt is going to get me through the finish line. Thanks for the content! We need more Icbt therapists like yourself posting videos.
Great show
Great show

Great info!
Glad it was helpful!
I love your channel!!!
Thank you Armando 😊
Hey, thank you so much for this video. How would you advice someone going trough this? I have been with so many professionals but they either know about trans issues or they know about ocd and it is seems impossible to find someone who can help us in a whole way, do you have any advice?
what will we happen if we cant delay or skip
i close door like 20 times for stop my ocd attack 😂 it sound funny but it was so stressfull and i get tired
OCD is stressful.
Mark is geneious... Love from India....❤
Seemed like .fun conversation more than a worthwhile session.
Was definitely a fun conversation 😊
Thank you for doing this interview
Absolutely 😊
Sadly ATMS and TMS remain unproven at successfully treating OCD patients long term. Interesting to hear a non-clinically approved treatment being shilled on this channel.
We talk about all things OCD. Many people know of TMS and have done it and have questions. Why would I not discuss it and interview folks ?
It's helpful to know that whatever option you don't choose always seems like it would have been the better choice. It exists only in your mind, similar to fantasy, where it is not seen realistically the way that real life is seen. Every decision has both positive and negative effects, and nobody can ever know enough about anything to choose the best option for all possible outcomes. It is so important not to go back and forth and change your decisions because of OCD doubt. This is just like any other compulsion that only feeds the monster. Great video and its awesome to see the honesty and openness about your own struggles with OCD. 👍
Hi Kristina, I have perfectionism or just right OCD for repeating repasting or deleting comments on social media like Instagram and Facebook posts. I noticed every time when I posted my comments, I would go back and delete it and repasting my comments until I make sure it is correct with no mistakes. This process exhausted me and my anxiety would spike dramatically. Do you have a way for me to overcome this? Thanks!
Dr Marisa is a very skillful therapist. She knows what goes inside OCD brain.
Yes she is a wonderful therapist amongst the other OCD specialists. She’s a master using ACT.
@@OCDWhispererACT is really good for OCD but patient should be open for change and willing to put effort.
@@eversunnyguy Of course. As is true with anything in life I think…
kristina you are truely an angel in shape of human , your angelic work will be rewarded if not in this world then in afterlife , i am thankful to you dear. God bless you and your mother always ❤
Wow that’s very kind of you. And thank you abt my mom… We are both praying hard - we are coming to 3 years of working on her cancer! It’s such a tough experience.
I barely made it out of drug addiction alive. I started collecting fragrances, and now they are all over the place. Looking back, it has always been something.
So glad you are here and made it out of drug addiction… It’s not easy.
Thank you. I can relate to everything.
I feel like I know what it is tho
I keep hearing myself "lie" to God. That's my OCD. Whenever I make an excuse to myself, I guess I think them "to" God. I can't explain my problem clearly. But I am fucken TIRED of confessing and apologizing. I can't do this anymore
Yes it’s exhausting
And?@@OCDWhisperer
@@johnrainsman6650Not clear on what you’re asking or expecting
Dealing from the therapeutic voice instead of the ocd voice makes a lot of sense. Then building a therapeutic voice and the space built in between the ocd voice is where we find our power and the way to create techniques and methods to recovery.
Yes, I do agree you have to go toward the anxiety, but not so into it that you get enmeshed with it either. It has to be a passive way to move into the fear.
From india
Can a reasonable doubt turn into an obsessional doubt? Like theres some evidence that my ocd thoughts/feelings are true yet my brain cant stop being obsessed about it? And when around @8:33 when the guest said "ocd clients know this isnt not happening" i dont have that, i feel and believe it is happening. Any thoughts on that please?
Inference Based CBT states that reasonable doubts are grounded in using our sensory information like how we know we are drinking tea - we know because we see it, smell the tea, taste it. Obsessional doubts over rely on possibility as its evidence and discounts information from the here and the now and makes our senses seems as irrelevant.
My OCD started to flare up this evening. I noticed I got stuck in the loop trying to reassure myself until after a couple of hours, I finally said to OCD, "Maybe, maybe not."
I have been tortured with OCD and intrusive thoughts for over 30 years. Meds helped, CBT helped but it's still there. After the death of my mom, I started researching Near Death Experiences. It lead me down the path to spirituality, but I have questions no one seems to be able to answer. The concept of Hell I have come to understand is a state of mind, if you have hellish thoughts, that's where you'll end up. So now I'm terrified. What if an intrusive thought popped in my head on the other side? What if I end up in a hell of my own making because of my thoughts? Why do I have this? Am I a damned soul? 😢
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s important to remember how OCD brains work and that it is not something we can control. OCD brain misfires and over excites the part of the brain that is responsible for being able to discern between a true real threat and a perceived threat. I hope this gives a little help. It’s tough to answer these deeper questions on this platform since this is for more broad educational purposes. Perhaps getting some help again can be beneficial. OCD does come back or can still show up even after therapy. We need to keep applying the tools.
@@OCDWhisperer Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. I had therapy (CBT) for years and take medication. It's been under great control for over 15 years... until I started watching channels about spirituality and the topic of thoughts creating reality came up. Went down that rabbit hole and well, here I am. I don't understand what purpose mental illness serves or why evolution didn't eradicate it. The suffering and damage caused is staggering. Thanks again 💗
I have the same fears
@@traces2807I’m glad that I’m not alone although simultaneously I dont wish this on anyone. Like it only puts on more pressure on me and my OCD
I think i have the same problem.. Its horrible
Oof yes hormones can trigger underlying issues and more
Great job! It is a beast ❤
It sure is!
Thank you so much for sharing these very helpful informations. I think there are not many books that can compete with only this video. From Hamburg, Germany
