I used to be so scared of the episode where charlie , lola , lotta and marv had a sleepover and I saw the picture in the creepy castle moving 😭

This show is the reason why, to this very day, my mom and I still call strawberry milk pink milk. Also the fact that pink milk was just milk with red food coloring and not strawberry milk blows my mind. This show caused my strawberry milk obsession, and all this time it was just milk with food coloring. I feel like I’ve been lied to.

I absolutely adored this show as a child! I remember reading some of the Clarice Bean books but not putting that it was Lauren Child who created them together 😭 Glad to see that Lauren is still creating books and art even after all this time ☺️

I think Charlie also directly speaking to the viewer at the beginning of every episode/chapter could also signify the self awareness we acquire as we grow older, Lola is still in the age where she’s so infinitely curious of the world and at the same time has that stubbornness that little kids are known to have

32:29 this is a thing i actually did in primary school. I think i did when I was like 5-8 because then they stopped. But with the whole school we gathered at the playground and released balloons with our information. A couple months later we would held a “school meeting” and the people who got a response got a little prize. Granted it was in Europe, i think it was fairly common in the 2010s

I saw the episode they go to the zoo and the oranges they eat and the fact Lola ate her shit and Charlie shares with her is engraved in my mind

charlie and lola really gave me an early love for color and clutter and whimsy. gosh, i remember being so crazy entranced by the settings and objects and the artstyle of lauren child. art is such an intrinsic part of my life, and i think this show was where i first really recognized that art doesn’t have any limits. i remember thinking her last name being child was very fitting. and learning about her love for dollhouses and miniatures is so happy to me, those being two things i also really adore. i really need to read her princess and the pea book. im applying to art schools in january, and ive been thinking a lot about art and where i can push envelopes. i really loved this video, it’s really getting the gears in my head to turn. thank you very much for this nostalgia trip!
