How do you fix a blotchy strip after using citristrip? I just found this video. I already stripped twice with citristrip and there's a few areas that where left blotchy and some of the old laquer still on. This is a 100 old chair that I bought on an estate sale very solid but with a very deteriorated finish. Must of the finish came out nicely after citristrip, mineral spirits with wire wool, and washing with a little water with dish soap. After letting it dry in the hot sun of a summer in Texas I noticed that there's still old finish attached, and a very blotchy backrest. I applied the stripper again and it didn't do anything more. How can I fix the blotchiness left by the stripper?

I gotta say that reading the labels on all strippers, including Cirtistrip, and they ALL read the same. They ALL recommend wearing PPE including respirators (not dust masks) and from what I can tell, have pretty much the same VOC. The MSDS for QCS is quite impressive compared to the others, but it's price is no joke.

The cocktail table looks great. Love the comments at the end about oils and polyurethane!

You mentioned that the sealant does not need to use HVLP sprayer because it comes in cans, but can you brush that same combination on? or does it need to be sprayed in some manner?

I’ve watched your other video on grain filling. Just wondering at what point in the restoration process that step would be completed? I’m planning to restore a walnut mcm nightstand set. I have it stripped to bare wood but am not sure if I follow a similar process as this video, when to grain fill.

How much stripper should you use per 100 sqft??

Using a scraper is not recommended. I know a lot of people like them, but they are not worth using. Definitely not something to teaching to beginners. You need to upgrade, simply do an acetone wash it would be done in minutes with that dry finish. You wouldn’t run the risk of damaging the piece. Scrapers have limited use in a professional setting. Definitely not for stripping a whole piece of furniture. If you want to maintain a high standard please ditch the scraper.

Hi, really beautiful result! I saw you sanding the wood but not bleach it afterwards. I thought rosewood has a tendency to turn black when sanded. or does that only happen when taking off too much of a top layer? what is your experience? thanx

Hi is it possible to get a similar finish effect without the spray gun?

For me, when using Citristrip, once I’ve scraped the excess off you have to follow up with a cleaner to remove the residual. I use a product called Afterwash. I’m doing exterior redwood trim to be painted so I think it can handle the Afterwash which seems like lacquer thinner. Doing vintage furniture I would caution against it since you want as gentle of a product as possible on delicate highly prized items

I was quite impressed and ordered the product. I am a little concerned about cleaning off the stripper using steel wool. Some think the tiny fibers will get into the wood grain. Have you seen this?

I used the strongest version of stripper on a Broyhill Brasilia. Had to set up in a small area with only a few feet to work and set up drawers fronts and cabinet. It was August in South Georgia (hot as f**k) so I was wearing gym shorts with no undies. I bent over to apply the stripper to bottom drawer while accidentally backing into the freshly applied cabinet. My left butt cheek made contact with a saucer plate size of stripper. It may as well been direct application to my butt cheek with the thin shorts only being the barrier. I immediately lost the shorts and wiped off the stripper and nuetralized the area on my butt. Twenty seconds on my skin and it looked like a race car pulled me around a hardwood floor on my ass for a few hours. It must have been 2-3 weeks before I could sit down or wear anything comfortably. Learn from my stupidity ! I’ll be trying the QSC…… On the bright side if things the Broyhill Brasilia Credenza turned out beautiful but it was a tough restore since the thin veneer doesn’t allow for much sanding. Chems was really the only option I knew at the time. I’m starting new Brasilia nightstands tonight. Anybody know of a better option versus QSC or maybe not using chems at all?

Yeah...I needed to see someone trying to strip off 100 years of many coats of paint from a garage door, not a less than 1mm thick coat of varnish...that's easy shit!

I am learning a ton from your videos. Really hoping you see these questions: First, I elected to not grain fill or glaze. (are they the same?). Do you think it is possible to go back and glaze/grain fill AFTER toner but before lacquer? Second, do you sand between toner and final lacquer top coat? If so, with what? Thanks!!!! Hi, can you please clarify? In your vid. you state that you can simply use water to clean it. But the QCS company states that after applying QCS finish remover you then must use the QCS surface cleanser. I'm hoping to restore my grandfather's old dark-armchair, which has lots of vertical slats on its back. The chair was on a veranda, thus became weathered by both sun and rain. How would you apply/cleanse the QCS on such an armchair? It has sentimental value to my BIL (but only if restored to orig. color & colorfast.

Have you tried using QCS and then covering it with seran wrap? Maybe that helps with penetration and more cost effective since your loosing less chemical to evaporation?

Thank you for this video! I would never have found QCS Stripwell without it and for me, that stuff has been a miracle. I'm refinishing two 8' solid mahogany doors and sidelights that had a thick layer of cracking marine varnish and the Citristrip was getting me nowhere. Enter QCS and their great customer service and I'm well on my way. Even though this isn't the application the product was made for, and it's taking multiple passes and lots of scraping, I don't mind spending more to use a product that doesn't take my breath away and isn't caustic. QCS is the real deal, and your demo was so helpful.

I used Citristrip and covered my pieces with plastic overnight. When I came back less than 24 hours later and scraped, the goo was liquefied and very dark black leaving my wood extremely discolored. Using Citristrip within 30 minutes caused less discoloration but still some in certain places. In my case, I am painting the wood so it doesn't matter but if I were re-staining, it would be an issue.

why is a audio so strange? Are you recording the audio at night while people are sleeping?
