If you like Buick, Olds, Pontiac that is primarily what I work on with a splash of Chevrolet.
1971 Buick GS 350 First Time Running In Years
This is my GS 350 Project running for the first time. I purchased it as a non runner and got it running the day after i got it home. The engine will more than likely be pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled in the car.

New Door Weather-stripping for 1979 Firebird Formula 350
I have to ask, was this from the Livonia area? I bought a 72 skylark, same exact story husband died after collecting them, wife wanted them gone, friend sold them for her. a few other skylarks and gs's left as well.
No it wasnt. In the ozarks in Missouri is where the car came from.
@larryrogers3607 gotcha, I'm just outside of Detroit and your story sounds exactly like mine. I bought an 1800 dollar 72 Skylark 350. He has a 71 gs 455 for 4500 and another clean Skylark for 7000 as well as some parts cars. This was about a year ago. Good luck with the car!
Mine didn't have ac so the oil filter no prob.got it from top
Nice car would really be nice with buckets and a console shift.
We got hit by the storm last night/ today. 9 - 12 inches of snow
Got around 1/4" ice and 6 inches of snow here. Power went out for a day but finally came back. Stay safe.
Pretty good car to fix up. Love it
Nice project there! Would be nice to see Fisher Body tag also. But pretty solid starting point. I noticed it has basic Skylark grille and 70/72 hood scoop grilles on it, but correct parts can be obtained as aftermarket items. I have 71 GS350 Convertible here in Finland and just received full floors, trunk pan and quarters from The Parts Place Inc. Good stuff!
Its a shame that Roadkill is gone, but the amount of people they influenced to get out there and get their old cars goin is great. Keep at it! 👍🏻 Edit* sounds like some major valvetrain issues.
Not sure what roadkill is but I will check it out. Thanks for the comment. And yes I believe that the lifters are clattering around probably since it sat for so long. I will more than likely pull the engine and rebuild it since it probably could benefit from it, I just wanted to see how it'd run before I pulled it.
@larryrogers3607 Most of their content was removed because MotorTrend wanted to start charging a subscription. But some episodes remain, and their best by far is them getting a 1968 Charger going that they call General Mayhem. They started their show back when all old cars had to be show cars. Just taking something that's been sitting, or rusty/beat up, making it run then having fun with it was unheard of at the time. At least mainstream wise.
Watching this old Buick be brought back will be fun to follow. Talk about getting your stuff stolen. I did Military Police at Fort Benning from 2005-2007. I was called to a storage facility on Main Post for what was thought to be a burglary of one of the units. A 2nd Lt had returned from his deployment and went to the storage unit and discovered all his items were gone and replaced with items belonging to someone else. To shorten the story. The storage facility was also available to off-post civilians and a clerk at the office rented out the unit. The civilian thought the stuff was abandoned and took all of it out into Columbus and scattered it around to various donation centers. There is a lot more to tell, but I reckon you get the gist of it. The one thing the Lt was concerned about the most was a foot locker of all his Army mementos from day one at Basic Training up his OCS; I don’t know if he ever got the trunk back.
I am really looking forward to working on this car since I am almost done with my Formula. Already ordered some parts for it. As for the Lt I would be very angry that someone's mistake led me to losing all my stuff. As for my experience, My dad was watching my house for me which was off base and after he passed away some lowlifes decided to break in and steal everything. When I got back home on leave the entire house was empty and the garage out back was empty as well. Lost a Pontiac 400 engine and Turbo 400 from the garage and all my tools. Some people are just opportunistic vultures unfortunately.
Nice ride!
Hey cool vid thanks for posting up. At 7:15 or so is that spark ⚡️ jumping off the driver side plug wires or some kind of illusion I’m seeing, lol? Check it out at night running maybe 🤔 Be cool, freezer’
It was actually a cobweb. The car's last owner passed away and the car sat for years before his son decided to sell it to me. Glad you pointed that out though because I thought I cleaned most of them off.
Awh sheesh that totally fooled me! 👍👋
What about the Trans AMs are ya gonna re build them?
Beautiful car
Hi from CALIFORNIA SoCal. Opgi here in Seal Beach CALIFORNIA has Buick stuff and look into the BCA Buick Club Of America. I've been with them over 30 years. I have a 67 Special Deluxe bought new by my great grandparents.
Thanks I'll do that.
@larryrogers3607 They both have lots of info. Opgi, just mostly parts and some stuff is so so.
Nice find. Be thankful it doesn’t have a vinyl top. I had a 71 Skylark & when I took the vinyl off. The rotten A-pillars came with it omg😮! Best of luck with Her 🫡
Thank you. The vinyl tops really do hold moisture very badly. The guy I bought this from had a 1969 Buick GS 400 for sale as well and the vinyl top had completely rotted the top of the car.
Of all the cars Ive owned, INCLUDING my Hemi Challenger, the FASTEST and FUNNEST car I EVER OWNED, was a 71 GS 350 4 speed I bought for a crisp 50.00 bill in 1984. It was a factory freak being a legit 11.90 car is 98 percent stock trim save for a set of Hooker headers and slicks. Factory cam, intake, carb etc. Great find, enjoy!
Putting a 4 speed in this car is something I will be doing. I think headers would really help as well. Thanks for the Comment.
Nice car keep footage coming 🔥🔥🔥💪💪👍💯
Thats the cheap budget model firebird. Open differential No rear sway bar No ground effects No rear discs. Etc
Need more updates ! Need to post more often
I had to stop posting due to needing a new 4k editing pc. Just purchased one and should be reposting in a day or two.
What an absolute dump that place is ! But I love that your actually doing good work and actually completing the project while working in the elements. Nice job !
First you insult where I live, then you give me a compliment. Thanks I guess.
First thanks for the great content! At time 5:00, the first part of the column is off. How did you do that please? The video skips over it.
you take off the nut that i shined the light on. then you take the steering wheel puller and use the two long bolts that come with it to pull off the piece. hope that helps.
Do i need to shoot fogger oil down the plug holes and drop the gas tank to remove old gas .. .my 85 c1500 sat 5 years.
you could try to syphon it out with a hose first. but more than likely you'll need to drop the tank.
@@larryrogers3607tks, I'm a chicka but wrenching is starting to be an awesome thing. Unfortunately, as I became a professional, I don't know many old school, guys that wrench. So, I'm starting w napa questions for basic stuff.
damn brother I like what your doing
thanks, I appreciate it. The truck really cleaned up well and drove great. I have been daily driving it and it hasn't had problems at all. Glad you like the video.
someone swapped the gold mirror t tops on my y88 before i bought it, so im just gonna put some gold mirrored tint on the underside. im not paying 1k+ for the real ones
the price on those t tops has gotten ridiculous for sure. definitely will save money using that tint, might do that in the future on my extra pair of t tops.
I remember in the 1990s walking over them in the junkyards just like my g body parts if I had known lol
How on earth did you remove the paneling!?😆
it is 5 small phillips head screws. you will need a stubby screwdriver for the back ones and if you are unlucky you'll have to pull the heater housing to get to the one in the very back. the heater housing is also only held on by 3 or 4 bolts but they go through the firewall and you might have to take them off from the engine side of the firewall.
❤ love your car will be coming back to your channel i am in the process of restoring a 1976 firebird formula would love tips
thanks, appreciate it. my number one tip would be to make sure that the cowl isnt leaking. the cowl leak causes a lot of issues and i actually have a video on my channel showing where that leak happens. the cowl leak is why so many of these cars end up rusting in the floor boards. what engine is in your formula?
If you have a good condition and fully working instrument panel that youd be willing to sell PLEASE let me know. Id be more than happy to pay for the part and shipping! Ive been searching for one for years 😂
Sadly the last good condition one that I have I used on this car. I have one that is for a stock firebird (clock in the tach location) but it would need some work as it is pretty rusty and the circuits may need replaced.
@larryrogers3607 ahhh dang, i greatly appreciate the response. Keep up the good content and ill keep following the build!
Ill be the first to say hell yeah!!!
thanks appreciate it.
promo sm ✨
Why ?
What are you referring to?
My favorite car...
It is one of my favorites too. I am a big fan of the 79-81 Firebirds.
Oh mannnnn, where is this I see some future money pits for me
I know you said that nothing feels better than your project car coming together. And I would agree... except I had a threesome once that did feel better 😉 Great job ‼️
is that a 74 vette? whats the story on that? i have the exact same car!!
it is a 74. it is a 350 4 speed car. the rear wheel bearing is bad and i will probably make a video on it before too long.
@larryrogers3607 very cool...I have the same exact car
Thank you for your service
Thanks Friend. Appreciate it.
How wide is the shank on the engine bracket to the stand?
love it,great trip. ))
Glad you enjoyed. thanks for the kind words.
Awesome Camaro dude! I love absolutely love the blue! Looks so much my very first car. My first car was an 82 Camaro with a 2.8 v6. I never got to drive it sadly because the engine was blown and it was missing the brakes and was parted out some for the use of other Camaros. I’ve had an 82, 83, 95, and an 01 Camaro and a few mustangs too. Keep making videos man!
thanks, i'll eventually get a new engine in this one and get it on the road again. but, first i have to get a 79 firebird tkx swap done and a 455 olds in my 79 trans am. sad to hear about your first camaro but at least you got to use it as a parts car.
