13:15 How did you define the friction force into the system? Does the program detect this automatically?

Hi Arion, I'm not sure if you'll see my message, I hope you do, but I'm modeling a jaw opening device for a dairy cow (for tooth inspection), and it uses a lever arm connected to small driving spur gear, which is connected to a larger driven spur gear, for mechanical advantage. I also have a crank wheel sandwiched to the small drive spur gear and a double pawl (one for driving and one for locking) so that I can crank the lever arm through an upwards then downwards arc, 5 times to gradually open the cow's lower jaw. I am designing it in NX2306, and wish to do a motion analysis on the assembly when it's interfaced with a 3d model of a cow skull upper & lower jaw assembly. Do you think you may be able to help me set-up the motion analysis? Thanks, Scott

The calculations for bending stresses use the leg length not the throat size. Welds are analysed based on the assumption all loads are transmitted in shear. You need to use the throat length in these calculations not the leg length.

Singularity is such a bad case, it happens way too often. Also, it is always unpleasant to explain to people why the simulation is showing high stresses, but they shouldn't be worried about it...

Thank you for those detailed NX Motion videos. I have a question for you and only you can answer this: I have a mechanism with few joints lets say and I want to minimize the load at the joint 3. So, I want to iteratively move the X position position of the joint from 50 to 150 mm 1mm by 1mm and compute the simulation again and again and find the least resultant force among them. How can I do that? I can not record the results as an expression so I cannot use the "goal seek" function of the excel of NX. Thank you!

Hi, do you have any idea how to calculate friction forces in the bushings? I would write a function for resistance torque based on the radial forces in the friction, but i dont know how to extract them, i cannot even apply sensor to measure these forces.

Hi there, I tried to simulate a similar model but with the model in half. I expected the result of reaction force in z direction (x 2) to give the same answer as if I had a complete model. Unfortunately that is not the case. Any clue where the mistake could be? I cut the model with xz plane, so I created on the corresponding faces boundary contraints with fix translation in y-direction. Another question... Can I apply the reaction force (Load force in z-direction) in an another solution to double check if it give me the desired diplacement? I tried but didnt get any result. I would appreciate it if you could give advice or show a short demo on it. Thanks.
