Since you said you are new I would suggest at the end clearly label and identify each outcome. That crucial information is missing. Take care.
I completely agree. Thank you for the feedback.
good quality video, i hope you get more subscribers!
Thank you so much🙏
130$ for delivered dirt lol that's 1998 prices big bud!
😂 East Texas gold
Why not just screw casters to the bottom of the frame? Definitely be easier.
I wasn’t that confident in the strength of those style bolts. We felt bolts straight to the rebar we’re gonna give us the best structural integrity we could get and with all this weight on an aluminum carport I felt it was the right move.
I dont know who you consulted to do this endeavor but next time, find someone who knows what they're doing.
Thanks for the support 🙏
Could he have done things differently? Yeah. Will this serve the purpose of a workshop and a shelter from the weather? absolutely. He can still button this thing up and make it more suitable but it beats the hell out of no workshop. Hope to see some awesome content come from your new shop bro! 💪
@@BrassMtn Merry Christmas Brother. Thank you. Big things coming next year!
I enjoyed the video, I'm not sure why some are so critical. Well done 👍
You feel that you can do better , prove it. Otherwise, maybe try not being a POS when you have no profile info & no content posted, because it makes you look like a BOT. What he built gets the job done and is functional
Downside to BLO Takes a longtime to cure and smells horrible. I prefer 1 part BLO, 2 parts poly or spar varnish, 3 parts mineral spirits. Dries quicker, smells better, and more durable.
Great tips. Thank you 🙏
Insulate the unit as it will be an oven n the summer
I did just that and you are correct. Texas is something else in the summer 😂
@ I’m in Florida and built a metal building and spray foamed it,looks great by the way and merry Christmas
How much did the carport cost?
It came with my property
Love this!
Wow!
Thank you
After all that work moving it. I would of just took that thing apart and rebuild it over ur slab
We thought about it
1:15 thanks for showing your "step on me harder daddy" flag in the background so I know to click off.
If you’re referring to “don’t tread on me”, I encourage you to simply google the flag. I am a proud American but this is not a politically motivated channel in anyway. God bless you.
Hey boss. Great video. Question. My painting partner and I took on a project. Using this product on a raw pine shiplap, ceiling and accent wall in a three seasons room. We sanded everything down nice. Can we apply this product with a nice clean white rag? Like wiping it on to get it into the wood? It’s a lot of square footage. And we are not spraying. Thank you very much.
I wouldn’t apply this product with a rag, they make a wipe on poly that would be perfect for this application. Hope that helps.
@ may I ask why you don’t recommend that? Just curious
A dirt floor in a shop? Not a good idea. Otherwise good work..
Totally agree. I definitely can’t use it for finish work, but it’s the best I could do on a budget. Hopefully with this design I can easily pour a floor in time. Thanks for the support 🙏
I done a lot of work in a dirt floor shop. My machine shop had a dirt floor for years. And many old shops did.
👀
🙏
Good job
Thank you 🙏
why in the heck would you use wood to hold that rebar??? you don't want wood in your concrete pad. thats a huge mistake. . might as well rip out those corners and do it right with all concrete and rebar only. jeeeezzzeeee
A lot of thought went into the design and we decided that was the best decision considering all the factors. If those corners rot out I think I will have gotten plenty of use out of this shop for the price and time frame. But I do agree, concrete corners would have been better. The challenge was “how to” tie bolts into the rebar. Trying to place a carport over the bolts in a foundation wasn’t an option. The only choice was to figure out how to place a carport over top of open rebar and tie the bolts in that way. Rather than try to drill anything into concrete. We felt this was way stronger. Thanks for the support 🙏
lost me at dry pour ..im kidding ill finsih watching ,, but seriously never do that again.. soo many vids out there testing it.. just dont..
I agree. If I felt it was structural I certainly wouldn’t have.
Not bad.
Thank you. Not bad for a budget build 😂
I give you an A for effort and for making it happen.
Thank you 🙏
Did rustoleum write that opening read?
I get this a lot. With less than 2k subs I can assure you they have no affiliation. But maybe they should if it sounds like it is 😂😂😂
Looks perfect for a lake “house”. I’d have the French door on the side though. And leave a big overhead garage door to park the boat in. What size is the car port?
Perfect lake house shop 👍👍. 24x18. Thank you for the support!
What's the roof like? Any ways to improve it?
It is pretty solid right now. But I do get condensation on it from the difference in temperature inside and out. I need to fix that soon.
Hats off to you on this, that's beautiful
Thank you 🙏
That's bad to the bone!
Thank you 🙏
What kind of cedar is this? It has almost no red in it. This is the most beautiful cedar I have ever seen! I know you said it's local to your area in Texas but do you know what species of cedar?
Thank you 🙏. It’s a Texas cedar, I find that the red or pink soften the longer the wood is left out in the air.
Dispose of rags and gloves in a can of water. I’ve seen two fires start from improper disposal.
Great tip👍
How is the update on this?
Standing strong 💪, no issues
Buffing also removes rust, and the steel will not rust again easily.
Great tip🙏
Wha? Why cut the wood at all?
Smart!
nice
Thank you
It would help if you clearly label/numbered your pieces to show what produced each colour. I’m trying to darken pine so it matches the existing piece of furniture. I’m replacing the top of so it won’t be noticeably lighter.
Looking back I completely agree. Thank you for the feedback
I can't imagine why you spent so much time making wood blocks and trying to lay out bolts. I would have just poured the cement, set the building and drilled in kwik bolts. No lay out, no measuring.
This was definitely the most challenging part of the project. Fair point, probably would have worked. But, I wanted bolts tied into the rebar for more stability. We felt it would be easier to “backpour” instead of try and place it over those bolts.
@TexasArtCompany Kwik bolt's go in after the building is in place which is why it's better. No careful layout or alignment issues. You drlll the holes in the concrete right through the metal frame and drive in the anchor. If the concrete is any good, they are as strong as anything.
INTERESTING :) THANK YOU FOR SHARING :) THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
Bless you guys 🙏
Thanks!
Thank you for the support 🙏
Hello my name is LeRoy. I am starting my wood working journey and your video was helpful. I want to make an all natural nontoxic durable finish. I was thinking boiled linseed oil not store bought and bee's wax.
You got this 💪
Vinegar and molasses...you're welcome.
Hmm 🤔
@@TexasArtCompany I put 2-3 gallon regular Vinegar in an old ice chest with a lid. I add one jar molasses. For heavy items - I let soak 5-7 days. Light items overnight and check. If left in too long the mixture will start eating everything. I've restored axe heads, hammers, pliers , old rakes, garden tools.
Linseed oil has long been used for gun stocks even military. One old gunsmith book gives a system of a 70% linseed oil and 30 turpentine. Heat it just to boiling and spread it on liberally and let it lay for 10 min wipe of off excess, let sit 24 hrs and repeat until no more absorbs. The put away for a week. Then follow with thin coats and rub in well. Add coats until the desired look is achieved. They were using raw linseed.
Great info and tips
It sucks
Hmm 🤔
Does linseed oil actually create enough of a solid barrier to use sandpaper? I know you're not supposed to go above 200 grit on untreated wood.
For a polish yes but only a 2000/3000 grit polishing sand paper.
@TexasArtCompany Ah, interesting... Thanks!
Too bad you never followed up on this.
I agree. The Froth Pak insulation video is the next step in the process. I hope to be able to showcase more of the process soon. Unfortunately I have been using the space as is for now. But now that this video is starting to grow and seeing the support I’m excited to do more. Thanks for the support.
I used the Krylon Hammered silver along with the Krylon gloss patriotic blue on my Ford Super duty 6.0. hammered silver on the manifold and detail or dress up parts. Blue on engine parts expected to get REAL hot, Heads, valve case then, stand out or, dress up parts turbo, down pipes etc. Both paints perform very admirably. Makes the engine look very dressy real clean and both paints are holding up to about 11,000 mi so far. And that's on a F-350 pulling a fifth wheel from California to Texas during July. Then, a few more States during the summer completing my 11,000 mile journey before this last Halloween in 2024. The hammered silver and the patriotic blue hold up to the heat of the compression engine, that being a diesel. It had no problems when I change my fuel filter and oil at the same time. I did spill a little fuel and Diesel is in all that good on paint but better than something like brake fluid. It dulled the blue just a little bit. Otherwise you can't notice it unless I pointed out. Just like the video says though, take your time during nice weather, a little goes a long way meaning, slow layers. I did my engine parts with about five light layers and 15 to 25 minutes in between each layer did just fine. The results are absolutely mind-blowing! My preparation was kind of Hillbilly but, I used to scrub brush and a couple of garage rags with gasoline. Put all the parts out on the driveway well I was finishing the others then, began to paint them in the order I brought them out under the driveway. Hung them from the clothesline out back and lay the paint just like the video tells you. Everything turned out really nice and still after the high heat from California to Texas there was no variation in color, no chipping no peeling, nothing bad. I know if you look on back at the directions, it tells you that it sticks to plastic ceramics, metals, glass all that kind of thing. Nowhere on the label does it mention anything about high heat engines. And we know a combustion engine gets pretty hot. Actually I touched it when the engine cooled down after the long part of the drive. And it kind of gives the metal exterior as ceramic coating feel. The heat versus that paint kind of made it harder and much more protective. I kind of saw that on the bonus side. But if you try all this and your project fails you crap all over your rubber work, fan, front window, wife and kids? Well, that's all on you! I kind of think that Krylon has all sorts of possibilities and all sorts of beautification ideas. But it also depends on the person and their abilities to use good common sense. Expect what you put into it and if you do a half ass job or run out of time that's all on you. Just use your head and you have real fine results like I did. So, for those of you wanting to know if this will work on an engine? Yes, it does a very nice job. If it can handle the heat of a compression engine it can handle the heat on your little ricer too! ✌️😉👍 If your friends have ever told you that you stupid or dumb? This may not be the job for you.
Awesome feedback! So great to have someone like you that is willing to respond so in depth. Thank you
Disappointed that there was no chrome examples. I was thinking of using this on my HD spoke rims
Great point. If you do try it on a sample let us know how it goes. I don’t have any chrome at the shop to test it on right now.
So beautiful. Did you add accelerant to your oil finish? Thank you.
For this project I did not. I was close to the bottom of the can and find it still works well without it. Just give your project more time to cure.
If you stop for 10 seconds will the nozzle for real jam? I think that info just saved me $420. Im making foam packaging inserts tomorrow but i need 30 seconds between each insert so i can lay out more plastic. I have to try and make 20 inserts so i feel it might definitely jam up. I’ll trynit but im letting the boss know. Cheers
Omg! I hope all went well. Most definitely, I actually had to edit the “test spray” because it hardened in the tip so fast. Thank you for the feedback. 🙏
Most people who move buildings or structures will add quite a few braces to keep the building from twisting. I think you got real lucky moving it with no braces!!
The repurposed trees certainly helped but I was also worried! 🙏
A little flex might've been helping, at least with a slow pull and with its weight more or less spread as it was designed to be.
If it won't adhere to itself, why a second coat?
Just to make sure it’s fully coated. Dry wood can absorb the first coat sometimes.
Did you also apply underneath? Or could you apply a different finnish?@@TexasArtCompany
How do you apply to carvings?
I guess it would depend on the size. A little goes a long way.
Can this be applied to a trucks underbody?
I don’t see why not.
@@TexasArtCompany ok I wasn’t sure if the gel would damage rubbers or seals
What’s your best recommended wood filler for finish nail holes to then stain over ? Thanks much
Minwax and DAP wood filler are good options. Wood filler for large screws can still be seen but smaller holes can certainly be hidden. You can also try filling with saw dust and glue. For smaller holes or cracks I prefer to use the saw dust method. Apply glue, add saw dust, then sand over it as it’s wet. Maybe test both with stain applied and see what works best for you. Good luck 🍀👍
@@TexasArtCompany I think saw dust and glue is best option. Titebond?
@@johnc1280 yes sir!!!
Are there any videos of this being used on rusted bolts?
I haven’t found many videos on this product, unfortunately. But the product works well on everything for me.
