Sorted George Garage
Великобритания
Добавлен 28 апр 2007
Hey guys, thanks for tuning in! The channel is about the servicing and repairing of Old American Iron. I'm not here doing full-on restorations, I'm a guy in a garage finding ways to keep these old American cars here in the UK running and rolling and fixing stuff that needs fixing. It's fun getting them up and running and bringing them back to life, sometimes with a bit of Make-Do-And-Mend, and as one drives away another one arrives. It keeps me busy and I enjoy the hobby, and hopefully my videos will help you out. You may even learn a trick or two ;) Please hit that subscribe button - it's free this week! Enjoy the videos and thanks for stopping by :)

Great no nonsense video Julian! Thanks.
Thankyou Kenneth, I hope it helps in some way 😃👍🏻
Hi George! Just subscribed glad to find your channel. I'm in the UK as well got New yourker 1976. Need some help\ advice from you if possible to start it something strange with ignition. Would you mind if Ask your contact? Kind regards, Stepan
@step8153 Hey Stepan, thankyou for your subscription bud, I appreciate it 🤘🏻😎 You can email me at sortedgeorgegarage @yahoo.com and we can go from there 👍🏻
A devoted fan will always be here
Thankyou I appreciate it 😀👍
At around the 29 minute mark, I decided to put this video in my "repair videos" playlist for when I tackle something similar because seeing what you're doing and your explanation is very helpful. Not sure why I'm seeing it so late, but I'm super glad I caught it. Dave's car is awesome. So are homemade tools that work!
Thankyou Patrick, I appreciate it bud. I love a homemade tool that works 😁 Glad the video will come in handy Sir 👍
Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more fettling! All the best! 🍻
Cheers Jas, more fettling coming 👍
Love the car, by chance was it originally from the state of Virginia?
Yes Patrick it was 😃👍🏻
You're welcome, my friend! Have a blessed Christmas and an amazing New Year. Looking forward to watching new videos!
Thankyou Eder, have a great holiday season break my friend 🙂👍
I need one of those pinch bolt or clamp bolts. Anyone happen to have one lol?
you did great camera work on this ....many thx.
Thankyou Mack, glad it helped 😉👍🏻
Thank you so much for helping me understand the detents better, this video is helping me immensely. I’m almost done rebuilding my A727 in my 75 Dodge B200. It has the 318 V8 5.2L engine and stopped going into reverse. Along with the detents being out of place, I found the top of the Low Reverse band adjustment arm assembly had broken off and cracked my billet piston servo.
Sorry to hear about adjustment arm, but glad the video helped you out 😃👍🏻
You never showed any of the pins or connections to the new carb besides the darn fuel line. Doesnt help me at all it’s pretty self explanatory when there is only 4 bolts to remove and re install something.
Sounds like captain jack sparrow
Thanks Steven, I've had that compliment before 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
Definitely have your work cut out for you
Tell me about it bud!!! It never ends 🤣🤣🤣
My 1972 dodge motor home alternator is overcharging, marks 18 on the volt meter gauge. All components are new, including the voltage regulator
Julian, you are an artist! I didn't think you could do all that! And to be honest, in the beginning, I was curious if it would turn into that decent of a job... especially using such basic tools as you do! You do deserve some sponsorship! The first Episode of Watcher's Wheels was great. I'm looking forward to having my Dorothy and Vesper featured, even if they aren't as pretty as this stunning Dave's '66 Newport!
Thankyou Eder I appreciate it Sir. I do my best with basic tools to show people that it can be done on a low budget. You don't need all the expensive tools to get the work done, or have much in the way of experience either 😀👍
Nice one dude, the var is slowly losing its flintstones look 😂, and what a gorgeous Chrysler Newport. 🤠
Yes it's getting there bud! You're right I think the last time this had a good floor was before Fred Flintstone!! 🤣🤣🤣
The die is a great idea! If I can suggest a refinement, imagine routing a channel into the wood block to create a female die….Enjoyed Watchers Wheels - Dave’s got a beautiful, well traveled Newport! Cheers, until next time!
Hey Rick 👍🏻 Yeah I thought about that after I must admit. Just need to find someone with a router or pillar drill to get the groove in the wood for me. I could use my grinder I suppose 😃🤣🤣🤣
Thank you
Can you show the alternator? I have 67 imperial only one wire from regulator, alternator has 2 fields, please help
Please check my other video "Bench Test An Alternator"
I think Dave forgot to mention that he had a 1966 Chrysler Newport when he was in high school. A gorgeous turquoise! So his heart was attached to this car before he bought this black one! Great feature!
@@colbycheeze8924 Thankyou Sir. I didn't know about the turquoise one.... that's a beautiful colour on these vehicles! I'm hoping people will continue to write in for this feature... People seem to like it 😎👍🏻
The before and after is Amazing!👍
Thanks Giggle, it took a few hours but we got there and she shined up lovely!
Dave's '66 Chrysler Newport is a beauty! Pictures are nice but to see it in person is something else! A fine example of a MOPAR in action!
It sure is Beautiful !!! It was a pleasure to have his Newport on the channel 👍
I have had the personal pleasure of riding in that beauty!! It is an AWESOME car!!!
It is AWESOME!! Absolutely beautiful! Was a pleasure to have it featured on the channel!! 😃
Thanks for the feature Julian, it turned out great!
Thankyou Sir for allowing me to share her with the rest of the world! That is one beautiful car you have there that needs to be shown off. Glad you liked the feature 😀👍
Excellent work there, very entertaining, just proves with a bit of effort and thinking outside the box what can be achieved, plus the more you do, the better you become at it and job satisfaction is very real, everything around you is a potential former for those more awkward shapes, keep up the good work and I look forward to the next episode! 🤠👍
Thanks Bearsey, I appreciate that. I love tinkering with this sort of thing. It's amazing what you can use as a former. The strangest of things can help you out no end. You'll see in another video I have coming out soon what I mean 👍
At least the Swamp Creature is giving you a lot of content! Great job!
Thanks Rick, yeah she's getting there bud 😃👍
Wish you had shown how you bolt it up from inside.
Another fab video Julian, nice to see the cleaned up and painted metal folder, cheers
Thanks Mike, you're a gem for that, thankyou 👍👍👍
Well done dude, that looks so much better. That car was definitely in some sort of bog - typical redneck I guess 😂. Love the new toy too 🤠
Get yourself a needle scaler.
Cheers Kevinm, I never thought of that!!!
A needle scaler would be good.
Malcolm someone else has just said the same thing..... I never thought of that. Great idea, but I don't think I'll get the use out of it at the moment for the cost of the item, but thankyou for the idea... I'll keep that in mind 👍
Nice work Julian you are an official influencer - I will get myself an air tool as well. Very impressive!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Guy...!!!! I must admit I was surprised how easily that tool cut around the factory welds! You still have to grind on top of the weld but hey - it's SO easy and saves so much time!! 😎👍
Beautiful work. . Excellent technique welding New thicker metal to thinner original metal. The Welds look really good. Look forward to next Video.
Thankyou Pro... Nothing like getting praise from a Pro!!! I'll take that with pride, thankyou. Especially as I'm just a Fred-In-The-Shed and not a professional myself. I just enjoy tinkering with these old girls 😊👍
Excellent standard as usual Julian. You've had enough welding practice now to fabricate a whole new car
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks bud, it sure feels that way 😂😂😂
Actually, your video went by really fast. Great work as always, nothing like discovering a tool or two that just makes everything easier!
Thanks Patrick! I loved that air chisel I must admit 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gotta love an air tool! Good bit of progress - keep up the good work! 👍
Thanks Jason, we're getting there bud 👍
George's video also applies to the G-Wagen 463 (2009 in my case), which uses similar jets although attached to the hood / vent via a different assemblies that are shaped as simple "boxes" around the jets you see in this video. To detach them, delicately pry them up /down. They are connected by 2 horizontal tabs. Note that the plastic of the electrical connectors on the jets is very brittle after a few years. Thus, unplug the water and the electric connectors (as per George's video) before you try to free the jets from the hood, this will give you a better grip.
I bought the same carb, cheap. Ran good a couple days. Then took a few hills, side to side. Now runs like shit. Leaking gas out the jets while off. Loading up terrible.
Sorry to hear this Michael. I'd say return it to the seller for a replacement!
Have this exact carb as well. Thanks!!! Did I miss the float adjustments part? Did learn the trick of hearing both floats “clicking” after tightening though. What is US equivalent to the Standard Thinner? Thanks for the vid!!!
You're welcome Stacy. Standard thinners are just cleaning thinners, like a carb cleaner spray can. Luckily I didn't need to adjust the floats on mine, but there will be info out there on the Internet for that, sorry I couldn't help with that, but I'm glad the video helped you out overall 😃👍🏻 SGG
you don't by chance have a breakdown of what each port is for do you? trying to confirm distributor port etc..
Go to 5.00 into the video then watch from there. You'll see the video fade then come back. When it does the vacuum hose is attached from the carburetor to the distributor's vacuum canister. Hope it helps visually. SGG.
@@SortedGeorgeGarage I wasn’t 100% sure that was the distributor line. Thank you
You're very welcome Sir, glad it helped you 🤘🏻😎 SGG
Well done dude, noce one, and respect to Rob for his welding skills.👍 🤠
Cheers fella, his welder is a heck of a lot more powerful than mine that's for sure!! 😳
Tried and tested cleaned by "HCL product" Exclusively within open the inner valve by connecting it to 12 v external battery
The fastest angle grinder operator in the west lol 😂 Nice job done there Julian and Rob
🤣🤣🤣 There's more to come that's for sure 🤘🏻😎
@@SortedGeorgeGarage it will most certainly be a safe and worthy car in the end.
Cheers fella, she certainly will be 😃👍🏻
Nice job!!!!
Thanks Rick 😃👍🏻
Actually the PP-GF30 is just the Material of the plastic Chase Polypropylene with 30% Glasfibre in
Wow! All the work and effort you put in to this project. RESPECT! And always keeping a good mood. Those crossmembers really make a difference. Two thumbs up!
Fantastic job. I love your determination. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
Hey Jon, thanks for the kind words Sir... still plenty to do on this old girl 😃👍
Julian, your perseverance is admirable. Floor work like that is a bitch to do, so here’s a couple of suggestions- get yourself a Sawzall so you can give the wheel of death a rest! Also if you rest the car on wooden wheel cribs, the body flex is more manageable and you can minimize floor twisting since the wheel cribs emulate the car resting on the ground. Crack on! 😎
Thanks Jo Daddy. I've managed to pick up an air saw like a hacksaw, so that'll help me out in the future, and I understand the idea behind the wheel cribs, I never thought of that thankyou 👍
All that work was clearly worth it. Well done! I have a small section of frame rail on the back of my '79 Dodge St. Regis in need of repair, not nearly as much as what you had to do. The big job for me will be replacing the K frame with one I got last weekend. My front frame rails are good but the original K-member rusted away where the rear passenger bushing bolts in. Your Coronet is a direct ancestor to my St. Regis.
Hey Patrick, thankyou Sir I do my best as always. I know sometimes a video can take a while to appear on the channel but sometimes there's a lot of work to do just for a half hour video. I'm sure you'll breeze that K Member replacement young Sir 🙃👍
@@SortedGeorgeGarage Young? It's been awhile since anyone has called me that! That's an old photo of me on my profile. I'm 62, young enough in my head to go out there and do it and old enough to pay for it the next morning!😜 Well, at least I won't have to soak the k member bolts for six months since replacing the bushings was how I found the rust damage. That should help at least. It's okay if videos take awhile, they're always worth the wait. 👍
This is the nicest Repair of a Torsion bar that I have come across . Nicely done. I also like the logical thought process on diagnosing the Tension on the Torsion bar. I like the way you think..... Look forward to the next video.
Thankyou Sir, I appreciate your kind comment. I hope someone doing the same job as this won't make the silly mistake I did. If they do then I hope they can diagnose it in the same way 👍
