Typhoon Hato is now a category 4 hurricane

Rockin-n-rollin in a category 4 hurricane in Hong Kong. At 7am Hong Kong time the typhoon rolled in. By 10am she turned into a category 4 hurricane !!! It came at high tide, and the storm surge put us a metre above normal high tide. Tomorrow is going to be spent on repairs and emptying the dinghy !!! Here is a taste of my world in a hurricane !!
Hydroponic Cucumbers before Typhoon Hato 22 August 2017 Hong Kong time

A typhoon (hurricane) is headed straight for Hong Kong. Only thing we can't take down to safety is the Hydroponic Cucumbers that are in their 3nd week of growth. They are tightly secured to the "spider-web" rope we set up for their growing. Fingers crossed that they ride the storm out safely !!!

Tell us how you source power diodes and heat sinks? I recently added diodes on my charge controllers…and in one case a lot of heat was observed.
How about lamination outer part with thermal insulation laminates?
Okay when can I purchase a setup like you have for My cabin on the boat
Where can I buy me one like you have right now. I need one setup up for hot for winter and cold for summer.
Can you show us the insides?
You're so right. Most of the Peltier units we get online are fake or extremely poor quality.
Excellent project
what updates do you have for 2022..?
Do I need a dump load for 960 watt solar on 4 6volt batteries.
Alan, good question, so What would you do with excess power? If living aboard you might not have any to worry about.
I would suggest ditching the outside heat sinks and fans....instead use that massive body of liquid coolant that your boat is sitting on along with a small pump and some tubing to cool your thermoelectric devices via a liquid cooling heatsink block. There is even a commercial firm in Italy that sells an Icebox refit kit to give refrigeration to older boats using the liquid seawater pumped from outside and drained into the sink basin.
tha shoes... made a heat stink instead of a heat sink :D

I am planing of building a combiner box, my inverter required min. operating voltage of 150v for it to operate without a battery, i have ten 270w 24v panel (open circut voltage is 36v) and plan wire my combiner in series, my combiner will have PV solar fuse, surge protector, beaker switch, what wou advise on my wiring ?
Sir how much product price me.... Address.sagar veterinary clinic,H.No#S-31. near, total patio partial pump, main road korangi no.1 Karachi Sindh Pakistan
Using a heat pump to dump the heat into the seawater would be more efficient.
that needs a water block on the hot side and piping that goes into the ocean for maximum cooling
Alan about 3 years ago we chatted quite a bit starting about Troy and then onto electronics and solar. I stooped being online when I became disabled. I hope you are upbeat and doing good. If you feel like talking again I would love to. I still have the same email address or if you reply here I'll give it to you again. Peace to you and May

36v is an boat load of power . Your going to need an huge solar controler
Have you considered (Since You installed this in a boat) Using Water Cooling for the Hot Side Using A Water Block With a Water Pump Submerged and mounted to the boat? That Certainly Would Drastically Raise the COP (Coefficient Of Performance) And Allow you to achieve the same temperature using less power.
"Special" means "retarded" (breakers)
Glad you're back! I was researching Peltier cooling when I saw your videos on it. I'm sure you could combine 3D Printing and Peltier Cooling (or Solar, magnetic, etc.). People would be glad to see your ideas!
Id recommend on the Hot side getting rid of the Massive heatsink and Go to a Water Block and Run a Water Pump from the water to the water block to remove the heat, would be much more efficient.
Where did you get these and how much . Thanks let me know

How many pliers of 12715 can be cooled to room 10 by 10 feet and how many 12706?
I like your polarity switch idea but wouldn't winter ambient temperature be cooling the cool side too much with the fans to give you good heat
Finaly someone who understands how peltiers work 🙃
one last comment I hope another fellow Canadian gets his liquid battery going soon.
Hi fellow Canadian here, I have EDS3 a lousy disorder started 43 years ago so I know how things can suck. I also teach Psychology with a neuropsych part and all I can say is keep going just keep going and don't let anything set you back. I feel like a idiot because I was hoping you could send me your plans for the DC AC unit and ask you if I got the more expensive peltiers if they would work better and I think the answer to that is yes for the peltier anyway. On the other side, I am in chronic pain all the time. I never have relief but I keep going. My 13 year old son helps. I still teach in China, one more year then I am going to retire and get off grid. Sorry to hear that you had to give up the boat. I hope that this finds you on a good day and that your are happy. I have to go now but I hope to hear from you no matter what the answers are on the questions. take care and keep on trucking brother.
I doubt if it will cool down a room , while you are making cooler air , you are also making warmer air on the reverse side cancelling any benefit, and consuming power
It's a test. He will mount it on a window later on discharging the hot air outside.
Are you selling these ? How do I contact you if so?
Glad to see the video, My Friend, Yes life is not always what we want. You will still offer change to those you help educate with your knowledge and experience. I know I get a lot from your perseverance and force of Gitn-R-Done. Just keep on truckin mate. Have subscribed to other channel. Give me call anytime if you want to bend someones ear. Cheers Ken
Hi Alan. Your project looks amazing. I will be glad if you could send me everything needed to build a copy of your project. My email: 4danielse@gmail.com Thanks a lot :)

Sorry to hear about your health problems, Alan. You learn to live with the changes. You might not be happy about them, but you do what you have to, to keep going. A positive attitude is key, as hard as that may be, some days. I speak from experience, as my life turned to shit almost ten years ago... I'm still here. :o) All the best, from the UK.
Thank you my friend !
This unit is sufficient for 250 sq. Ft. Room. Temp. Required 22 •c.
Hi, your software work with mpp solar/axpert inverters?
Thanks Alan....Pls how "COLD" in Celsius did it make your cabin......say within 1hour....and can you run it for 10hours non-stop ?
Hello, I have them on "Dawn to Dusk" censors all powered from solar panels, so as the sun is out (10 to 12 hours a day MAX) it will cool the forward cabin. Here in Hong Kong it its the humidity I try to eliminate. When the temp is at a hight of 38C during the day with 98% humidity it will stay at 29C and 63% humidity. At night time we just have a 24v DC fan moving air and we sleep like babies.
@@alanmarine7608 Outer temp of 38C cooled to 26C inside is good but.....wished it could go lower though . Im more particular about the temperature. If i can achieve 15C inside at 38C outside during the day and less at night, i will be excellent. Im in Nigeria, you cant move Aircons about for rural projects and the grid isnt stable. This your model will simplify life if it can achieve low temperatures.
@@lekefemi9685 I designed the unit for low power consumption and basic needs. In NO way would I get the same cooling as a compressed Refrigerant system. In your area I would assume that it is a very dry climate. I would use the Swamp Cooler theory of moving air over a sponge that is saturated with water. You would drastically change the comfort of the air in a dry climate as Dubai, Egypt, Australia, and Arizona USA.
@@alanmarine7608 I will give this model, the big fish. i will build my local model this weekend and see first.
@@lekefemi9685 GREAT !!!! So much fun and rewarding to build these projects ! Have fun my friend !

I want to buy you 7 units
For 28amps of current this is highly inefficient. Other than I guess space savings this seems kinda nuts. I can't see it putting out enough btu's to really do anything
@AlanMarine, you are using this on a boat, perhaps you can use the cold water underneath your vessel to cool the hot side of the peltier using water pump. Perhaps place a radiator under the vessel that is enclosed (so it wouldn't rust) but still got cooled by the water. Perhaps it's more efficient than using fans. I am curious how you would design this tho.
Your information is really awesome as well as it is very excellent and i got more interesting information from your video. hemgreenenergy.in/earthing-equipments
Which charge controller can be use with this 36v panel?
Abhilash D M Pallom - any controller that is made for 12v or 24v. A 36v panel works best for controllers set to 24v. A 18v panel works best for 12v controllers.
@@alanmarine7608 I have another doubt, if my inverter is 48v system, then how we can use these 36v panels.? I think as you said above, that's one panel out put is connected to 24v charge controller. Then 36v is filtered to 24v. And then second panel also connected to another Charge controller , there by we get two 24v output.then that 2 connections are connected series there by geting 48v for the inverter.. Am I correct?
@@abhilashdavidmathoor - Yes you connect two in series. Then that can be one string into a combiner box to a MPPT Controller.
@@alanmarine7608 does it mean that with a 36v PV, one can still use a normal pwm solar charge controller to power one 12v lead acid battery without any problems?
