"Oush, a-hurt a-your face off. There it is my ouch it you." ~ My autistic son
So I was wondering what you think about adding an aftermarket exhaust on the KPX and doing an O2 sensor delete with an pod air filter? I’m just nervous about the bike running like shit after the O2 senor delete and new exhaust/muffler system I don’t think there’s any exhaust or air in take tubes out there for this bike
@@cooach6614 check the Facebook group for the KPX.. it's been done with an O2 dummy signal. No proper tuning yet though.
5200 after taxes in canada ill stick with used japanese bikes for cheaper 😂😂
Ya that's a rip compared. We picked one up a month ago for 2850 brand new. And used with a few hundred miles they're in the low 2000s.
'23 KPX250, Love it! All the mods but the sprocket ratio is good for me. I gave up on Dual Sport Tires.. I couldn't handle the wierd lean handling and swapped to street tires on the stock wheels.. Wow! Stability/Total Smoothness, no leaning into a corner and going too far into incoming traffic. Love it so much, I'm going full 17" super moto w/ 120/160 tires. You can lower the KPX 2" up front, and 3-4" rear if you exend the lower link by 1 inch. It's cast steel, and welds beautifully using MIG. I got the 17 rims, spokes on order to length. Should be easy to keep same hubs. Note worthy is stock rear spokes are 8 gauge/4mm, front are 10/3.2 gauge. Other stuff: 1. Never turn the throttle backwards! I made this mistake with improper use of ratchet straps! Anyway, threw a ECU code, and took full dissassembly of the throttle handle bar assembly. Required full battery dis/reconnect to fix. 2. Power has increased substantially after 500 miles.. gradual but easily 20% more over initial start. I keep only 93 octane around, so maybe that makes a diff? Full throttle in 5th is kind of impressive in fact. Good Power! 3. Got to have Bark Busters if you keep the stock dual sport tires. I dropped the KPX several times doing slomo parking lot maneuvers.. that "lean and Pray" just doesn't work on DS tires. Broke the clutch lever OFF, and luckily I managed to make it home being very creative with the lever remains to start rolling. 4. Dropping Front forks. You will need a handlebar mount that allows you to move the bars back by ~3/4 inch and likely raise them similar. You can make up the difference likely by rotating the bars. The Shocks are dropped by loosening the front tripe clap. A solid 2" drop is possible w/o any mods. Kickstand will need to be shortened or replaced with an adjustable version. 5. Throttle/clutch cable adjustments. I diddled the throttle body idle adjustment up 200 RPM which gave me a bit more idle torque. Without slipping the clutch in idle I can now do very tight lock to lock figure 8's at idle! Idle torque was a problem when I first got it, had to slip the clutch quite a bit.. now not so much. Throttle slack.. got to have some slack. Going lock to lock w/o slack moves the throttle and clutch friction point slightly which will throw you off in slo mo maneuvers. Check your cable routing around the triple clamp to minimize cable bending. 6. The passenger (Really??) footpegs are pretty heavy.. I removed them. Just a great bike.. With a superb fuel gauge, a nice dash! The motorcycle inspection guy was impressed.. passed no problem here in Maryland. Nothing overly cheap or Chinese. Kawasaki needs to drop thier prices.. this one is comparable to a KLX230 and gives the KLX300 a run at half the price. Wish Lifan made a super moto version. The gorgeous power line right of ways around here are signed up with Private Property, No Tresspass under some USCode threat of prosecution. Love this bike.. best ever (With Street Tires) to learn on.. Indestructable (with BBusters). Complaint: Stickers coming off! KPX250.com Chinariders.org
Amazon/Ebay are your parts suppliers for the KPX.. an entire engine/trans assembly is like $700? Many parts are generic/dirt cheap.. Decent Mirrors for $15.
music is unnecessary
ARE QUADS ATVs ALLOWED And what did that sign mean there close to the entrance just after you crossed the big creek (OFF ROADING PROHIBITED) I would assume it meant just don't go off the road you are on but I wasn't sure if it might be the road you are on it was talking about.
@@ericangela1528 these are public roads so whatever you'd drive needs to be tagged. No ATVs, no off road dirt bikes. Ya the no forwarding means just stay on the trail and don't go make your own trails.
Got about 800 miles on mine.. the list of Mods is Very Long.. turning it 17x120 Front /17x160 rear Super Moto. Dropped the rear 4", the Front 2".. Looking for another inch or two on the front. Currently sitting at a 32" seat height with stock 21/18 wheels but street tires. made ALL the difference. The much shortened kick stand drags now, but easy fix to come. The Power on my KPX just keeps climbing! The torque is way up from initial. I diddled the throttle body idle stop screw to give it another 200ish RPM at idle and a bit more torque for parking lot maneuvers w/o slipping clutch. Clutch and Throttle cable routing and slack is critical to precision clutch and throttle control. I only keep 93 octane around so it gets that. Wide open in 5th is darn good now.. I would say power (Torque!) is up 25% since new.. Break in it would seem?
It definitely breaks in a little.. it'll never be a 2 stroke but it has enough power to do all the things I want to do :) I'd be interested in your tires and whatever you had to do to make them fit. We've had a few riders ask about super moto setups - kyle@kpx250.com
Fiberglass the side of your saddlebag that leans against the exhaust, and it won't burn the saddlebag anymore. Then you could spray paint it, but nobody will see it anyway.
@@davidt1621 ya I've only used them one more time since then.. we do mostly localish road trips nowadays
How's the bike holding up?
@@teddadolphson4237 still great. No major maintenance and just oil changes, battery charging, and chain tensioning. 2800 miles.
What does the metal shavings in your oil mean?
@@iwantdog engines sometimes have very fine shavings during break in.. not abnormal.. but if you get them after breaking it can can mean something is wearing incorrectly and let you know your engine has some bad issues.
My KPX250 is Awesome.. but the stock "Dual Sport" tires are total crap on the street. Unstable at Any Lean, constant hunting.. annoying. If you want decent street handling, you need real street tires.
We've pushed the street tires pretty hard on the mountain roads (enough to drag the pegs/kickstand). I'm not willing to give up the little edge they give us offroad.. if anything I'll just go with another 50/50 tire after these wear out. 2750miles and going strong.
Nice all on same kind bike group!!!
There's 5 of us on the KPX 250 from Lifan.. we do have other bikes in the group but we all bought together to get a deal.
My KPX 250 started out whimpy.. had to rev it a lot. Very little torque at idle made it almost hard to drive. Initial opinion was "Not Great"! Over the next 400 miles, it got MUCH Better. Idle is now strong and 5th gear has some grunt. I can do tight, near full lock, low speed circles without slipping the clutch at idle. Never enough power, but really NO complaints. Could be break-in or ECU learning? Major drivability improvements regardless.
Just because that's all I keep around, I use only 93 octane.. probably doesn't make any difference on this low compression engine, but might with EFI. This KPX250 has Kawasaki nervous. I'd like to see a legit comparison between this KPX250 ($2900 Shipped) and the KLX300 which is Pushing $7K Out the door.
@@markhall3434 Always ran 87/89 ethanol free. We've never had issues from the beginning.. maybe the valves were too tight on your bike from the factory? Common issue with Chinese bike and needs checked on most. Did you get your ecu remapped?

How do you think this bike with a hold up on the TAT. The TransAmerican trail.
@@rayalway9530 I think it would do fine if you take care of maintenance. May want to get different tires for the mud/sand portions
''23 KPX250.. Wow... This bike has gained power since new.. used to have a fairly low torque idle, now much more stable and reliable, especially down low. Do you think they put a time out in the emissions tuning? Seemed about 250 miles, things were getting better.. dunno, could be break in I guess, but increased power came from somewhere.
@@markhall3434 likely just break in, the EPA would shut them down if they put a timeout in emissions.
@@dadbodbikers Yeah.. this bike is AWESOME for what it is.. Kawasaki's KLX300 at twice the price is a total RIP OFF.. Love my bsr raven, i was planning on upgrading to a CRF, but with the 6-speed and true 249cc engine, i might just have to buy a new kpx instead of a used Honda 🔥🔥🔥. I wish there was a cheap US made dual sport, but all the American bike manufacturers are intent on pricing out the poors 😢
agreed.. buddy just picked up a klx300 and was into it for almost 7k new. He could've bought 2 of these with money left over.
I’m surprised nobody has added a small windshield it makes a huge difference! Might even make you faster or more fuel efficient.
Oh people have done the windshields. Honestly most of our 'cruising' is at lower speeds or in the woods. We did do a giant road trip but that's not our common style of riding.
I’m about to buy the kpx for running around town and some trail ridding around Tucson. We’ve got trails all over the mountain. Just have to wait till it cools down a little! How difficult is it to pick up off the ground being that weighs 333 lbs? That was a epic trip you guys took!
Depends on how strong you are and if you use the proper technique :) I'm 6'3, 205 so I can yank it up off the ground when it falls fairly easily. You'll love it for trails and around town, that's what this thing is built for!
Thanks for the info…I’m going to purchase the Lifan. Looking for a starter bike to ride around town.
It's perfect for that! A few of my buddies I ride with are using this and the TBR7 as their first bikes.. low cost to start up and you don't feel bad if you don't ride much because you don't have 10k tied up in a paperweight in the garage :) Enjoy!

Nah you can make the tbr7 or the kpx work at 5'8... but if it's your first bike, I'd find a way to lower it, or practice on a different bike. It's a lot easier to ride a tall bike once you have motorcycles figured out.. it's hard to learn when you can't flat foot the bike.

I can't tell you guys how great it is to see the rides you do. I've been saying for years that the knock people put on Chinese motorcycles is undeserved.
No real issues yet, just standard issues like a battery or breaking a lever when we fall. And our hobby is much cheaper because of it :)
I just got my 2023 date of manufacture KPX250. Just got it running yesterday. Idle seems rather weak.. no torque at all till maybe 1800 RPM. It might be improving over time, or I'm naturally adjusting to it. I only have 15 miles so far. I may have a newer flash version from the factory? Should I look into a Reflash? One stickey clutch/No Friction Point to start.. I slipped it a bit, and is better now. The engine braking when you let off the throttle is something you need to anticipate, especially at low RPM. Brakes need some breakin too.
You can email to ask if yours was flashed before selling, i believe they track it. No torque till 1800 is worrisome.. these things are like little tractor engines for me.
There are no places in Florida
It is rather flat there :P There are places to ride, just not as pretty as North Georgia. Take a trip!
It will go a bit faster once the motor is broken in.
We've put a few thousand miles on them, no huge change, maybe 1 extra mph on the top end.
Are all the Chinese made dual sports basically the same? My buddies all have Dual Sports KTM, HONDA etc. I'm not rich and want to ride.. I know these type of bikes can't compare to their bikes but.. It is what it is.. I'm 5'7 and suggestions..Thank You For Your Time..🤜🏻⛈️🤛🏻🤘🏻😎🫡
The same? Nah, they equate to 5+ year old Japanese technology. The quality isn't always up to snuff compared to nicer ktms and Hondas.. and you'll end up doing basic maintenance yourself because they don't have a ton of dealers around. Worth it? Ya! At 5'7 I'd recommend a Tbr7 or magician 250 as a starter bike.. the kpx is much taller and may be harder to get started on. That being said, we ride all the same trails and group rides as those guys!

Im trying to decide between the Hawk 250 DLS vs lifan kpx 250. Any advice? I would really like to talk deep into this decision. Its alot of money and i dont want to get the wrong one.
I don't think either is a bad decision. The dlx is a good bike but the kpx is slightly better in quality and performance. You pay extra for the kpx so that makes sense. As the DLX has been around longer there is slightly more aftermarket support. Ive been a big fan of Lifans support so I'll stick with them but the hawk DLX is a good bike too!
