    smh if only autodesk went thr route of unity or unreal as far as price, even lumberyard and cryengine have superior licensing ....should of known they would just give up but its harder and harder to justify paying for a game engine.

    When I took a picture of a brick texture, I put it in the normal map, but it looks all metallic. I tried to move with all the sliders, but it still looks the same...

    Stingray has the best workflow I've ever seen. To make Stingray best it should be with C# instead of LUA, and it must have licensing politics like UE4.

    I have replicated what you have done and I have a question. Do you know why the grid is appearing in front of the material in the Asset Preview window, and in the scene?

      I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but you can turn the grid off any time you like. The preview window is just loading a level in the back ground, you can change that as well to any level you like or create your own.

      Thanks. Yes, when I turn the grid off with G, the material (applied) looks normal. It is still behind the grid floor and in front of they sky area in the asset preview for the material.

      you may need to reload the preview window. you can do that by right clicking on the tab and hitting reload

    Any chance you update this now that set_color is deprecated. I have no idea how to handle vector4 which now should be used.

      The VR templates have updated flow nodes that show how to do this. You can copy the nodes and put them in any project. Should be pretty straight forward.

      the video above is outdated but will still work. there is now a plugin in Stingray to allow for screen capture and output.

      it doesnt allow to render frames as jpeg format i can just render as exr and has a file size of 55 mb at 1920*1080 resolution also takes 30 minutes of rendering time for a 22 seconds video

      First guess is syntax. You have a lower case "f" in ProjectFlowCallbacks. Fix that and try again :) The function you list and call in your .script_flow_nodes must match exactly the function you list in your flow_callbacks.lua

    The new Stingray version was advertised that it could export and convert VRay Materials aswell, is there a chance for converting other render engines to Stingray / DirectX Materials too?

    thanks . I used to import maps made in "Substance painter 2" to "3Ds Max" and they appear washed out in the view port, but now the appear the same way as Substance painter view.

      Maps are very easy to make, that's why I never posted them :) 1. Create photoshop file, 512 x 512 2. use cloud filter 3. use normal map filter 4. duplicate layer and blur slightly and set to overlay 5. do last step as many times as you like 6. make seamless by using 'offset' filter at 256 x 256 7. use clone tool to clean up any lines 8. done

    Hi there Dan Matlack, Your video is great and easy to understand. I just stuck at one point and still trying to find out. If you could help me, much appreciated : - I start an "empty_project" and try your guide in the video, also update the flow for v1.1. When at the end i test my level, it's just that there is no F2 to press to let me walk around like a character. I'm still trying to find out what happen but no go yet. Could you give any clue ? Thanks.

      "Empty" template has none of the pre-made requirements for this. If you had used Project Expo to bring Revit to Stingray, it will use by default a "basic" template. You should use the "basic" template to put your project in and the functionality will be there. "Empty" is more for programmer types who want to write their own systems, therefore it is pretty empty. :)

    How about filter/search string for nodes in Flowgraph ? If u have many nodes then u will have difficulty with the selection of the desired node.

    Inserted a abiente architecture in FBX in stingray, set up the con floor phisycs actor as static, but when I generate the simulation does not happen collision, my character goes through the floor. How to solve?

      If you gave your floor a physics actor and your character is spawning above the floor, it will collide

      +Paulo Fábio Belesa if you copy and pasted nodes or script from a project, delete the node and try placing it from the menu in Flow and compile again. Set Active Camera is a valid flow node and should work with no warnings or errors. If you are still seeing this issue, please make sure you are on the latest version of Stingray first, then visit the public forums for direct support.

      my character started moving and detecting colision, but once it goes up in a ramp for sample it lock the Z positon, if i get out from the ramp i stay in the air. as if there was no gravity

      +Paulo Fábio Belesa There is no gravity. The title says "non-physics" which means no gravity. :) If you want a basic character with movement and gravity, use the character inside the basic template and just replace the mesh with your own or if you have an animated character you want to see, use the character template and replace the character with your own.

    Thanks again for these Dan. Problem for me in max though - every material i am building is showing up VERY metalic - the color map gets really washed out. Even though i am plugging through the steps, i feel as though i am missing something.

      +DavidRBeach Just set your metallic value to 0. Those will get set based on values from 1 to 0 if you do not have a map in the slot and the box is not checked to use that map.

      +DavidRBeach I'm fairly certain in standard shaders we don't import any tiling and you'd have to set it up yourself. This may be true of directx shaders as well unless you set up a multiplier in the shader graph itself -- which is what you would do in Stingray as well. do a multiply out to the uv coordinate node and make it vector 2 and then set your UV tiling, ie: (2, 2) for double tiling.

      That seems to be another indicator of something going wildly wrong for me then. In the video i put together you will see tiling right from the very start of applying the texture.

    Hi Dan - In Stingray i notice that you are navigating around like a boss. Is there something you use (hardware or software tool) other than the wheel mouse to move/zoom in and out of your spaces?? Thanks!

      +DavidRBeach Just using mouse and keyboard. Hold right mouse button and use wasd to fly around. You can use the scroll wheel to slow down or speed up your movement in the editor space while moving.
