    I was having a heck of a time spraying a transparent blond without getting streaking/striping - even with a 50% overlap - with - speced 5.5” fan using an LPH 80 with a 1.2 E4 tip. I found that when I backed up a bit and move the gun faster, it was more even. But then finished up being a bit dry and “dusty” which I was able to sand slightly and remelt with clear. Any suggestions for keeping transparent dyes and semi-opaque’s more even? Thank you

    • @JNcolor
      @JNcolor Месяц назад

      Using an lph 80 can be a little more challenging than a larger gun when it comes to painting the entire guitar. Something you might want to try is over reducing your paint making it thinner. That will weaken it and it might take more passes to get the level of opacity you're looking for but it helps the paint to flow out rather than be dry. Another thing to try is using less air pressure. I like to use just enough air to atomize the paint. And if you spray from farther away and move slower, spraying it just to where it starts to look wet, then do you over laps, it helps to all blend together.

    • @JNcolor
      @JNcolor 5 месяцев назад

      I wish I could just give you a number. But there are so many variables. with rattlecans you can put 10 - 15 coats. it's pretty thin stuff. With lacquer (if that's what you're using) sprayed from a gun you can put 4 or 5. you might even want to sand that once it's dry then add more. typically with clear lacquer you wait 45 minutes or so between coats.

    Pear white--imagination kicks in. What if we did an Inca Silver base color with a very translucent white-blonde overcoat (sort of like what would be on a '50s Fender ash body), topped with clear? e.g. Much like CandyApple Red--red tinned transparent over a silver or gold base color coat. //I don't know... finding the perfect ratio or opacity of clear to white tint so the finished color looks like pearl white might be very difficult, maybe impracticable. "White eats silver" might still be a problem.

    • @JNcolor

      The white blonde would kill it. It would mute that inca silver like crazy. But ideas like this and others are what's fun about this.
