The Royal Burial Clothes of Las Huelgas - 13th Century Costume
In this video, we will explore the clothes found in the royal tombs of the Monastery of Las Huelgas (Burgos, Spain). These garments belonged to Infante Fernando de la Cerda and Queen Leonor of Castile. Through these findings, and in conjunction with the illuminations of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, we will try to understand what Spanish fashion was like in the 13th century.

I suppose what you judge is the meaning of refinement. I think he was a much darker personality with rather cruel obsessions of piety and over inflated sense of self. He was limited in kindness and self truth. I pity the women forced it marry men they had nothing in comman . Yes, the throne is a lonely place, but cruelty, betrayal of others and trusting no one is a lesson he learned well from his father, who believed these were traits that a king must have and himself ruled by.

you spent too much time learning a small, anglicized Protestant propaganda version of Spanish history. I suppose if you only speak English, it’s easy to fall into that trap . However the Americans who only learn about Tudor and English history get a very inaccurate and one sided image of continental history and politics. Bc of the source

You can see the conditioning everywhere these days. Do you really believe an ancient pharaoh that was considered to be one of the most powerful and ruthless person to have ever ruled the earth look like a drag star? They compound normalizing it through our daily lives slipping it in places we least expect it, next thing you know it, your child then grows up in a world where bad is good and good is bad and then eventually becomes frustrated and confused theirselves.

Similarly, Prince Philip of Greece, who later became Prince Philip of England, having married Queen Elizabeth, his mother being an English princess, who married a Greek Prince, was separated from her as a child. one day he went out to play, and she was gone. Her family had taken her to a sanitarium in Switzerland And never told the child what happened to his mother. This was followed by a second hospitalization and she was subjected to very old-school barbaric procedures, including having her uterus removed. when she was finally let out, she didn’t dare return to England so she traveled around Europe, staying in higher end inns of the day. but she never forgot about her son and of course wanted to see him. The prince of Greece, her husband, had long abandoned her and their children. . Ultimately, she decided to enter a convent in Greece where she worked during German occupied World War II helping feed the starving Greek people, and hiding Jews . Finally, Prince Philip knew where his mother was, but he had. a very wounded relationship with her with a lot of mixed feelings given the abandonment. etc. Elizabeth invited her to their wedding, and her being the mother of the groom without a husband, walked alone in the procession, one the very last people, as a place of honor, dressed in her habit when everybody else was dressed in the finest gowns and jewels. Mother and son managed to make some reconciliation, and has her health became more fragile, Elizabeth invited her to live with them on the grounds of the palace, and so she did until she died. Elizabeth and Phillips daughter, anne, used to visit her grandmother in her cottage regularly and got close with her, as she had been completely estranged from all of her grandchildren for years. She was a real character, a chain-smoking nun who committed her life to God and and serving others, found meaning 🎉in her life and freedom from a family and culture That violated her and caused a terrible rift and fracture with her own children. She is very well loved and honored in Greece as a Greek princess who came during World War II to help them, at great danger to herself. By Her request she was buried in Israel, and her son visited the grave. He spoke fondlyof her. Her name was Princess Alice.
